bit Posted October 5, 2007 Can anyone ID this beasty, and give me some idea as to what is likely to have caused the tips to shrivel as you can see? From ground to highest tip is about 1.5 m
0 Conan Troutman Posted October 5, 2007 my guess....Cleistocactus and thats horrid, needs water?
0 bit Posted October 5, 2007 Well if it's water it needed, it sure got some this week.. rain's been pretty torrential :D I am thinking I'm best to cut the affected tips off, and just let it pup from them? I'm als going to repot it into the same pot, but with some good quality cactus mix.
0 dqd Posted October 5, 2007 looks like advanced mealy tip damage... I have some spachs that have similar damage, they killed the growing tip and the damage just spreads. Then again, may not be it in this case
0 Evil Genius Posted October 5, 2007 Hi Bit, cleistocactus are VERY vulnerable to this Disease! I saw this a thousand times in some collections! But I´m not sure if it´s mealy! I´d actually thought that this kind of damage would be caused by Spidermites but this was just an assumption! bye Eg
