Another sydney canning jar query....

Recommended Posts

Hello all , I know this has been covered before and i've trawled though the pages here on it, but does anyone know where in Sydney I can find suitable canning jars, it's driving me crazy!

I've been to heaps of those House and Homeware shops and the like, but they only ever have canning jars with big shoulders that are definately no good. No luck in Kmart or Target either. This sux!!!!

Any help would be very appreciated before I go crazy looking.

thankyou!

I've seen them at K-mart.

But you don't need canning jars.

If one was going to do a simple casing (a good idea!) for a regular legal edible mushroom then one could just scoop the cake out (with maximum sterility) of a regular-shouldered Dolmio pasta-sauce jar.

Zing.

Yep pretty much what has been said. Forget the canning jars. Dolmio jars are good and seal well. PC. Grains [popcorn or birdseed are good], and case. Couldn't really be more simple. PF cakes bite. Casing is much easier than cakes and better yields of edibles.

Another casing/substrate method to consider is horse poo. This can increase yield dramatically by expanding your mycelial volume

Technically referred to as 'spawning'.
