shadako Posted June 10, 2007 This is my first attempt at finding mushies, found on the way home, growing on chips. Think i may have seen them on the net before, so thats why I picked them. Any ideas???
0 obtuse Posted June 10, 2007 Hi Shadako, I'd say not mate. the photo isn't really clear on that close up. But to me most of the stems don't seem to have any bluing, and they are too orange/brown in colour. colour of the cap doesn't help sometimes. Here in tas, you generally can identify them by the white stem with some brown showing through and blueing. caps can be anything from brown/gold for the young ones, becomming golden yellow then pale yellow with blue stains on the older ones. In my experience colour and texture of the stem are more of a giveaway rather than then cap, as there are heaps of look alikes. The cap is usually more like a sign saying "here i am, look at me". here is a pic a friend sent me recently: It has some great examples of what they can look like at various stages of their development. remember tho I'm in tas, and what we have here may not resemble what you have there. confusing hey. cheers, Obtuse
0 shadako Posted June 10, 2007 Yeah it is confusing... still feel I know a bit more now, have a better understanding of what to look for. Pic is also a pretty good guide.
