Renewable City

Recommended Posts

New book by Prof Peter Droege well worth checking out.

Renewable City addresses the issue that despite the mounting effects of climate change and the peaking of oil, natural gas and uranium supplies well within this generation, the vast majority of cities and urban communities are managed, administered and planned as if such crises do not exist. Indeed, the transition and futures of cities from fossil fuels to an evolving renewable-energy based infrastructure requires entirely new tools and frames of planning and decision-making.

Professor Droege has directed and developed SolarCity, a research development effort conducted under the auspices of the International Energy Agency. He has served in various academic roles at major universities in the United States and Japan, and is presently at the University of Newcastle, Australia and the University of Beijing, China. Professor Droege represents the Asia Pacific region as Chair of the World Council for Renewable Energy, and directs Epolis, his Sydney-based consultancy active in sustainable urban change worldwide.
