Serpent Posted March 20, 2007 I recently acquired a very old pressure cooker (almost 50years old) the main seal is great, no cracking or hardening. I have brought it up to pressure, but the thing is the seal around the valve has gone and leaks a fair amount, whistle and steams. But it still comes up to normal pressure (second band on the lifter thing). Dose that mean it's still fine to use? Or should i replace it?
ENtiTY Posted March 20, 2007 Which valve are you talking about, pics would help. Sounds like the over pressure valve is leaking. Its supposed to do that when the pressure gets to high. However its a good idea to replace it if your not sure. The over pressure valves aren't expensive so you might as well to be safe. What make and model is your PC? Serpent Posted March 20, 2007 Managed to take off the valve, was a simple screw thread and the rubber can be replaced by some generic o-ring or some rubber gasket cut to fit. There is no marking any were for the manufacture, all i know is that its old and comes from Germany and very heavy , my grandma gave it to me
