nabraxas Posted March 18, 2007 http://www.marssociety.org/portal The Purpose of the Mars Society:To further the goal of the exploration and settlement of the Red Planet. This will be done by: 1. Broad public outreach to instill the vision of pioneering Mars. 2. Support of ever more aggressive government funded Mars exploration programs around the world. 3. Conducting Mars exploration on a private basis. Starting small, with hitchhiker payloads on government funded missions, we intend to use the credibility that such activity will engender to mobilize larger resources that will enable stand-alone private robotic missions and ultimately human exploration. NatureBoy Posted March 19, 2007 if there is life found there, it raises questions about 'land that people have bought' on mars. http://me.moonestates.com/faq.php there has been land sold on the moon and mars, but I found a wikipedia article last night(which is being strangely elusive right now, so I can't find it ) that gave the best information about the 'real' situation of the legitimacy of these 'land rights'. anyhow, most/all of the websites that i looked at a while ago who were selling this land stated that if life was found ('sentient life'?) then all of these land rights would be void.
