0 ENtiTY Posted March 16, 2007 What makes you say it isn't a bernhardii? The key at Erowid; "Plants with purple tinge, flowers violet. Fruit spiny. var. tatula Purplish coloring of plant weakly pronounced. Form tatula (or Datura tatula) Purplish coloring of plant strongly pronounced. Form bernhardii (or Datura bernhardii) Fruit not spiny. var. godronii" You can see there that bernhardii is characterised by strongly pronounced purplish colouring, which you can see in the pics it certainly has. The shoe seems to fit...
0 Torsten Posted March 17, 2007 when you see bernhardii and tatula growing next to each other then you will see what they mean by 'strongly pronounced'. Also, the flowers are generally entirely tinted rather than just having a tinted throat.
0 ENtiTY Posted March 21, 2007 Hmmm... Saw another patch today as I was driving to work. Its flowers were definatley violet and the stems looked almost black. Might have a closer look when I get the time.
