What am I?

Hi guys,

Someone bought be this broken off bit of cactus from some place they were in, in Phillip Island. Any ideas regarding ID?

I think that's what's commonly known as the mexican christmas tree cactus?

Looks just like my variegated Opuntia . Keep this one out of direct sun I'd say

I'm having trouble finding anything via google on mexican christmas tree cactus.

It does look similar to some of the Opuntia I've seen around on the net. Any chance of a species name? Or is it just too vague?

I'm trying to grow this one from a cutting; so keep it out of the sun? I guess maybe I could leave it on the patio.

it´s probably an opuntia but i´m not sure about the species. I have some of the same species but atm they are in their winter storage. I´ll check them out next time i´m there. It could take me a few days or weeks though. bye Eg

Yes, it'll be an oputunia. Possibly Opuntia leptocaulis?

This Opuntia is a cultivar and doesnt have a species name, dont think it flowers, I have a couple.

I can't remember what it's called but that thing is a monster, it should pup from every areole.
