planthelper Posted August 27, 2006 here is a photo of a tom juuls giant cutting, note the cacti is embedded with a slight inclination because a cat caused some fresh damage and the aim was to keep the effected area above soil level.
Tripitaka Posted August 27, 2006 Nice one Planthelper, I thought that Tom Juuls Giant was purely a US based phenomona! Glad to see it over here though.

planthelper Posted September 1, 2006 rev they would have to be identical, because juuls is a selected clone.
Pisgah Posted September 1, 2006 Even in the US, there seems to be some question as to whether certain botanical garden specimen may, or may not be the same as TJG.
Agamemnon Posted September 1, 2006 No problems Jeffrey, will do some glam shots of the T. Bridg this weekend!
Rev Posted September 1, 2006 (edited) rev they would have to be identical, because juuls is a selected clone. my answer is what Pisgah says TJG is a clone, but it is also prob an unamed 'species' collected on trips to S.Am but never officially recorded of named, or those details lost thus there are possibilities that it is the original from Toms old garden, or it is a hybrid descendant, or even a sister plant from teh same population in the same way i can say what is eileen? maybe she is not a hybrid at all but actually a seedling or clone from a true population bewteen peru or bolivia after all most our bridgesii is from La paz only. what forms lie outside the area? and the peruvianus story shows how a single bad batch of seed can so greatly affect what a species is though to be - KK242 ! versus the new and improved non-knize matucana collected types As i didnt get it from Tom Juul, i can not be 100% certain i will keep u posted tho Edited September 1, 2006 by Rev
