strangebrew Posted April 15, 2006 All those pics you've posted look like standard pachanoi to me Rev as does the 5 ribbed one Archaea posted. I like the way 5 ribbed pachanoi looks, I've got a branch myself. and I don't think that nice plant you got from Knize looks anything like a KK242 Archaea, it displays none of the wavy rib lines. As for the motherlode Rev, you couldn't find it cause I've never posted it! :D
Gunter Posted April 15, 2006 I think it looks like a KK242, that is what it is, but it is not the same as the seed grown cuzcoensis like KK242. I could, in theory, go to peru and plant some Backeberg pedros in the elevation and area that KK242 stands for and then he could take cuttings of them and sell them as KK242. Or maybe only the peruvianoids from that area get collected for that name. I don't know much about it, but I think it was from a cutting, not from seed. strangebrew Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) Yeah Phil's was good. Was it ID'd? That big one was macrogonus, alas it was butchered, and you should see that spachianus below when flowering. It's a sight. Edited April 16, 2006 by strangebrew

gerbil Posted April 16, 2006 Yeah Phil's was good. Was it ID'd? Not to my knowledge. I've cut up a few feet of it a while back, and the new pups are quite interesting, they look so different from the mature trunks. Has quite a reddish/brown spine to it. I'll get some pics up very soon. I adore the look of it on a cool morning after some rain. Am planning on getting numbers up to distribute eventually, so far 5 mother plants with pups <10cm, possibly late summer next year. Otherwise just make a visit to the generous old guy who it came from in the first place. Rev had a similar specimen I think which wasn't ID'd either from memory? strangebrew Posted April 16, 2006 I remember noticing this when it was first posted but isn't there something different on the left there in the background of Phil's? Pachanoi maybe?
gerbil Posted April 17, 2006 uh um remind me? ie which of my unidentified freaks are you referring to?? argh hard to describe, I recall you mentioning you had a similar one to some spine pics of phils one that I posted a while back. I'll get pics up soon for it, easier than words. Yeah I thought similar strangebrew, scop or pachanoi. It was a while back, but phil may have mentioned there was a pachanoi there. There was definately a small macrogonoid and a few other ones.
