  1. ^^ show me the part of what i wrote that even vaguely alludes to the idea that discourse 'in general' is something that should be stifled?

Regardless, questioning what police should do, and not blindly accepting responsibility? Not only is that far from immature, it's our responsibility as members of a democracy.Regardless, questioning what police should do, and not blindly accepting responsibility? you're going round in circles man no one is saying blindly accept police authority.

discourse is the only way forward

.. not according to history champ

It's clear that our government is not particularly concerned with civil liberties.

this is not meant as an an ad hominem refutation of your most erudite and worthwhile pontifications, but i don't like your opinions and feel that you need to travel more, and actually look into the ways we already have in Australia for changing the things you're annoyed about, instead of 'discoursing, or as it is colloquially known 'whinging'.

  2. yeh good 1that's exactly what i mean

the comparison isn't the same, this isn't a wartime, the comparison i was making was to point out that the social mechanisms regulating dissemination of information and producing change in Australia are a lot more workable than other places.

it's just my opinion but it's immature for people to be going on about police should do ... or pretend you're a moral bastion for saying violence is wrong. we aready know man. no one thinks you're edgy because you don't like police. if this incident is something you care about, do something. otherwise :wave-finger:

  3. "a single voice gives rise to the clamour of being." - all being is univocal, spoken by a single voice, there is only one 'substance'

difference is this voice, it is the productive power of asymmetry which is prior to the relations of force which are its effects

multiplicities specify the topological structure of spaces of possibility

bodies without organs are surfaces populated by intensities structured by singularities

singularities are self organising and mathematically determinable attractors, singular in the sense that they're not only irreducibly different, they're remarkable points, interesting points, what in thermodynamics are called 'phase transitions', water to ice for eg., the effusion point of energy in a cloud causing lightning, the critical value for the required weight to lift a heavy object .. they're virtual, real but without being actual, the materiality of the incorporeal ..

all matter is animate and self organising

ignore the idea of truth and falsity and instead look for the remarkable

there's no depths to be found, only series to be passed through, shades and echoes inside duration, the being of becoming is Returning or 'repetition'

"hello computer, I'd like one free internet please"

    p.s. limitless magnificence

  4. This sounds eerily close to Douglas Adams. If he's to be believed, the meaning of life, the universe and everything is 42. yet we do not know the question .. the super-computer designed to establish this is THE EARTH, i.e an

an organic computer that solves a puzzle.

science imitating art's imitation of science's imitation of life

    .. deep.

  5. cheers for the link, signal to noise ratio seems to be a bit better there

    thanks for your input obtus

.. things like this that exemplify why i get frustrated by any alignment of psychedelics with spiritual ideas. when i first became interested in ethnobotany i went with the idea that psychedelics afforded a privileged space for realisation, but i think this is naive, and i have no faith in this link. i think altered states in general are closer to being a just a beautifully degenerate form of ordinary awareness rather than an expansion of a person's ability to act in the world. ime drugs offer no greater chance for growth than any other activity, provided it's approached in a fitting way.

Why is it more palatable to people to frame ethnobotany in a Ram Dass, Tim Leary or Terrence McKenna way, rather than the Hunter S. Thompson spirit of pure delirium ?
