  1. I'm generally against any DMT publicity that might encourage law enforcement to clamp down on plant sources. I'd prefer that the average cop continue to remain clueless about it. Otherwise we might find our favorite plants becoming illegal.
  2. I have several thriving Acacia Simplicifolia bushes growing in my sunroom window. They grow much faster and seem hardier than my one Acacia Obtusifolia bush. While Mulga's site claims a 3.6% alkaloid concentration for the stem bark, his info on the alkaloid profile claims only 22.5% of it is DMT. Ott claims 0.81% DMT for the bark, which jives for the calculation 3.6% x .225 = 0.81%. Anyone have any experience or deeper knowledge with this plant?
  3. Some practical method of storing hydrogen in densities capable of powering cars for at least 300 miles would be much more important. High pressure tanks just don't cut it.

    Diplopterys Cabreana Germination Tips Sought

OK, here goes (I'm a lousy photographer). In the three leftmost columns the seeds are positioned with their flat side up. The rightmost column shows them rounded side up. The two seeds in the rightmost column at the bottom are totally round, consisting of two halves still stuck together. similar to the way Psychotria seeds do.
  5. Diplopterys Cabreana dried foliage is commonly sold as a concentrated leaf source of DMT for ayahuasca, but live plants or seeds are virtually non-existent in the civilized world. However, I have just acquired 20 Diplopterys Cabreana seeds in a unique one-time deal from a fellow in Brazil. They are hemispherical brown seeds similar in shape to Psychotria Viridis, except with none of the stripes typical of Viridis. And they are roughly 8x as large. I fear they may have a short fertility period and I want to get them germinated soon. Any sugestions on what I should do? Sandpaper them or almost-boiling water as per acacia seeds? Brief 50% peroxide soak.Humidity tent? I don't have a very green thunb and fear I'll kill them inadvertently...

    Scale related insect

What do you use to kill the scales? I've just tried using beneficial nematodes. Still too soon to tell if it worked. Any anti-scale advice would be much appreciated...

    Obtusifolia Cold Hardiness

I guess I'll just have to treat my Obtusifolia as an indoor house plant. Oh well, there's always Leptolobus. Since it seeds up the first year, then it doesn't need to survive the winter. Just have to tolerate the lower percentage of alkaloid...
  8. I have a 15" Obtusifolia plant with a woody stem I've raised indoors in a large pot that is now thriving outdoors this summer. What are the odds of it surviving outdoors where the winters go down to -20C with snows up to three feet deep (Northeast USA)? If I formed a cone of mulch around it, do you think it would survive to awaken in the spring? Should I bring it indoors to keep it alive? I'd prefer to plant it in my yard...

    Psychotrias

A defat is absolutely necessary to process Psychotrias. The more efficient the defat, the less goo ends up getting mixed with the crystals. SWIM had three ways to do the defat: defat the dried leaf, defat the acidified extract, or defat the re-acidified initial extraction. The first method is untried and would use the most toluene. Since the second method got him only goo the first time he extracted Viridis, he went with the third way which previously yielded crystals with Viridis. On the theory that the more concentrated the solution is, the more efficiently a given amount of toluene defats it. Undoubtedly there is some unknown degree of loss with any defat method, but since that is the only method that has worked before (on Viridis), that was his choice for Carth. SWIM has a little bit of homegrown Viridis he wants to try the dry defat method on over the Christmas holidays...

    Psychotrias

SWIM used three pulls of a 25% vinegar solution to extract the 184 grams of dried leaf, then basified and extracted with five 100ml pulls of naptha. Evapped the naptha and got a thick layer of goo as he fully expected. Re-acidified with 120ml of hot vinegar and defatted with four 30ml pulls of toluene. Rebasified, then extracted again with four pulls of naptha. Evapped to a thin layer of goo (a previous Viridis extraction using this technique had yielded trippy white crystals at this point). Disappointed, but not yet willing to give up, the goo was redissolved in 100ml of hot vinegar and defatted again with three 100ml pulls of toluene. The solution was rebasified and extracted again with three 100ml pulls of naptha. Evapped down to a very thin layer of goo. Which was mixed with the minimum possible amount of dried parsley and given the smoke test. Nada. No trip. Viridis may be a bit fussy, but at least it can produce a significant yield of goodies.

    Psychotrias

SWIM has successfully extracted Viridis in the past to trippy white crystals. He extracted 200 grams of dried Carth leaf gifted to him by a generous online friend. Got a very small amount of goo which had no trip in it at all. Carth seems to be absolutely worthless...

    Acacia confusa

I'm all ears. How would you separate the NMT from the DMT? Using a solvent to selectively separate them? If so, which one dissolves the one, but not the other?
  13. MarsOfOld

    Acacia confusa

The most important thing is not the DMT concentration. The most important thing IS the alkaloid profile. Even if this plant has 2.58% alkaloid, if only 45% of that alkaloid is DMT, then after the extraction what you've got is weak DMT. Under 50% pure. Unless you're gonna use chromatography or a bulk method of zone electrophoresis, you won't be able to concentrate the DMT beyond 45%. Better to have some other plant like Psychotria Viridis/Carth or Acacia Obtusifolia which have better alkaloid profiles. Low concentration can be overcome with the generous use of solvents, but a low alkaloid profile is much tougher to overcome to end up with a high percentage of DMT in the final product. Hypothetically speaking, of course...

    Smoking mixes

The smoking mix "Spice Gold" that is getting killer reviews from multiple forums as a MJ substitute claims to contain a mixture of: Baybean, Blue Lotus, Lion's Tail, Lousewort, Indian Warrior, Dwarf Scullcap, Maconha Brava, Pink Lotus, Marshmallow, Red Clover, Rose, Siberian Motherwort, Vanilla and Honey. It's very expensive and becoming very popular in the UK. Perhaps a good starting point for cheaply duplicating it would be to individually try each of these, then start blending.

    Indoor Viridis and Sunlight

I have a bunch of Viridis plants growing indoors. I use a circle of six 48 watt compact flourescent lights on a timer. A 1-kilowatt halide at the center of the circle that is only powered on while I'm at home boosts the total light fed to them. They are about a meter high and very bushy. Also have a pair of one foot tall Obtusifolias
