    eBay/Gumtree finds

I know 3 people in oz who have it now. I guess it's a matter of who you know. Those with it are propagating the crap out of it and will be sharing it with the crew. So sit tight for another year or 2, it's in good hands. I'd hate to see the kinda price gouging that happened with CSD. That's ridiculous and counter productive. Look after your mates first

    Help, diseased cacti :(

I was once told that molasses is an excellent soil wetter. I think it's because of the complex sugars or something like that. Anyway I'm sure it would be safer than the detergent based wetters. I'll be giving it a go soon. Anyone know how salts or fertilisers go as wetting agents. Diluted pee perhaps?

    What have you learnt?

I'll try to keep it short. For me it's great to be part of both a collective brain and a community of likeminded people at the same time. You can really learn from more than just answers to technical questions, but also from other people's experiences and attitudes, from accepting other people and ideas into your little world , and most of all willingness to share. The art of giving as well as recieving, with complete strangers. I guess when plants can multiply endlessly then so should our kindness and generosity to one another. If we can bring that principle into the way we live then we can build a better world for all. Helping our fellow man while enjoying in our hobbies and interests. I think that's the real idea you're paying forward when you help out a noob or throw in a few freebies etc. If you have a good thing preserve it best by sharing it. Same goes for the entire community -participate and preserve. Look after this good thing we've got, and look after each other. I keep thinking I owe it to others for all the good things I've got. Thanks y'all (I'm so high right now)LOL

    long established graft having issues

I've never grown lophs so I don't really know for sure. But I'd say that's probably a bacteria. And you could try a frw different things to address it. Maybe water it less for a stat And make sure it's not in a dank environment. Also try this product called cal-mag. I think it can be helpful for this kinda thing, but.wait untill someone else confirms this.

    Khat use!

I met a chewer who would drive a 4 hour round trip every month or two and ask for tips. He was a dark-skinned guy from Egypt, maybe a mix of arab and black. Anyway he would always knock and ask respectfully which I very much appreciated. He said he was in love with khat and the feeling was absolutely wonderful. No one else I know could ever get any feeling off the plant (pretty weird). Other full African dudes would come at night and raid it. Eventually I dug up the whole tree and gave it to the dark Egyptian guy who would always ask so kindly. It was just a stock standard red khat from SAB. I wondered if it was because he had African DNA or whatever, but he said one of his white Aussie mates was a big time chewer as well. It's a real mystery this plant. I think it may take many weeks of chewing to get the effects, but do you really wanna get hooked on something that will send you on 4 hour drives just to get your fix. The addiction seems to be quite strong, with fairly negative side effects. Plus it's illegal etc.

    regrowth study in 2019

I guess my only idea is that humans must now play a fairly major role in keeping a lot of species alive artificially. I'm not saying it's a good thing we have come to this, but now that it has, I think we should be aware that there should be an element of consevation in what we do with these plants. For example I grow a species of orchid (Laelia gouldiana) that is considered extinct in the wild (something I found out after purchasing the plant). I guess I should take it upon myself to become involved in it's conservation somehow. Same with Tricho scopulicola. I'm pretty sure I read that it is extinct in the wild. Perhaps we should be sending seed back to be scattered in it's region of origin. It may all seem a bit ridiculous but extinctions ARE an increasing problem, and humans will literally be the last hope for many species. And I know how stupid and ironic this is but we're going to have to get really serious about the conservation aspect of our hobbies. Like an added responsibility kinda thing. Anyway, just some thoughts I guess.

    regrowth study in 2019

So would it possible to grow some big bend genetics and return them to the area some time in the future? Seeds could eveb be scattered in new areas hypothetically, right?

    Tricho's EVERYWHERE! -Matucana

Pretty sure I'll be taking a stroll along that train track at some point in my life. I guess those plants can be considered wild too, as they wouldn't have been planted or dumped there. Great place to source some genetic diversity.

Awesome, we needed a little controversy to kick off the conversation. By the way, CC is a conspiracy invented by the 'Right to life' people, to appease the Reptilians who tend to Trump's cacti... Which is where he gets his face dye... you will see so clearly when you open your 5th eye to lord Zeus. Pm me if you'd like to sign up to my cult
