    Considering username change

I was going to change my username to Randy Lahey. Everyone called me Randy in high-school and Lahey was my mother's mating name.

    Sydney Meet

Good work Apo! I'd love another meet. Can I just ask; you don't mind other people 'creating' a Sydney meet if they want to, do you? Sometime I feel like taking the lead and organising one, but it's always kinda been your domain. Probably only because you are the most motivated, and least social-phobic Sydney-sider on here, but either way, it has always seemed like you were our unspoken 'leader'. Anyways I'll check my roster at work tomorrow, Saturday, and let you know the next weekend I'm available. It may be a month or so away yet.... Watch this space! edit: Oh yeah, Husk. Anyone is welcome to one of our meets. Nothing illegal goes on, so we have nothing to hide. The only way you'll become an 'old timer' is by getting to know peeps.

    Considering username change

Heheh, I always thought it seemed odd that there would be an ICP-head on here too. But, what's in a name? I never judged you for it, so just go with whatever you _want_ to do. I used to go by the name 'Serial Ben', in the vein of 'Violent Jay', in my younger days. We've all got our dirty secrets.

    loofah,s

I've got a packet of seeds you can have if you want. That's if you can wait several years before you get your Loofahs.

    How awesome is Tripitaka

Yeah, I LOVE that artwork! That same postcard was pinned on the cubicle wall in my office for the past year or so. It was my little garden oasis in a sea of paperwork and 'open plan' cube-farm. Thankfully I got out of the office 2 weeks ago, but that's another thread entirely. Tripitaka is awesome! He also brews a mean Mate for his visitors.

    Sydney Meet

I'm available 24th & 25th of March. I got a new job 2 weeks ago at a Mushroom farm, and I work 2 days off, 4 days on. So my weekends are weird. That said, it's a cool job!

    An inner sanctum subforum?

It's all already been said, I came in way too late. Stupid idea. lol

problem members will now be moderated.

I am all for this Torsten, but can we solve the one problem with problem posters that seems unsolvable? The creation of fraudulent accounts, to bypass moderation, etc. But, again, cheers for looking after us all.

    Native Plant Potting Mixes

I live in the Blue Mountains, NSW, which are filled with Acacias with goodness in them. The soil around my area is pretty heavy clay-based, filled with sandstone-type rocks only one foot down. So, it's impossible to dig in, but does have a fair bit of sandy sh*t for drainage. As Alice said, most Aussie soil is pretty poor quality.

Kat was there and loved it! She came home all excited like a puppy dog. :D

    Coleus Dosage and experiences

Isn't the idea that there was at least ONE active coleus species? But with all the hybridisation by the nursery industry, for pretty colours, we've probably lost the original 'active' strain. I reckon it's deep in the jungle somewhere......

What to Keep in Green/Hot Houses

In countries where it's legal, any of the amazon-type medicinals will love it. Regardless of climate. Just put it in semi-shade. Sally lives in about 30% sunlight I seem to recall reading, in it's natural habitat. Caapi will love a hothouse, so will dragon fruit. Psychotrias. etc. Leave the door unzipped a little at the bottom during the day and they won't cook. I also put shallow containers of water in there, for extra humidity, and less wilting during hot days. Sorry this is such a scattered post, I'm at a mates place and feel a bit rude ignoring peeps.

    Any Regular Sydney (ish) meets

Cmon Bongchitis, there's been plenty of Syd meets while you've been a member. Maybe you should organise one? Where is Apothecary when you need him?

    HBWR in SW Sydney

I don't think it's warm enough in Sydney for them to really do their thing like they will up North. I reckon the Coffs area is the furthest south I've seen one in the ground, and it was very healthy! Just cause I haven't seen one in Sydney, doesn't make me right though.
  19. This thread is F-ed. Seriously. All I can say is I lost alot of respect for a few people after reading this thread. Evolution, you are not one of them. Islam is just a religion. I would also have to say I don't care why you practice Islam, because it's your choice and any spiritual pursuit improves a person. As long as it is undertaken with pure intentions. Every religion says the same thing: "be nice and loving to other living things, behave yourself". They're not bad sentiments, at all. Much props to anyone who approaches the world in a loving manner, there is definitely one or two people on here who don't.

    Cephalopods

lol@Apothecary. That was a great caption for the Cthulu beast. I have always found Cuttlefish, etc amazing since I did work experience at Sydney Aquarium in year 10. You can stand there for 1 minute watching a group of small cuttlefish, and you will probably see 1000 different colours! They change colours at a ridiculous rate, and I think a tank of them would be awesome to watch whilst

    NYE and bored?

Really Torsten? Even before you came to Australia? Here's where I spent my new years eve. My partner and I, along with 4 other mates who are into exploring old historical buildings, etc. We were out at one of the old bunkers on the northern side of the harbour opening in Sydney. That's the view from an old 9-pounder gun emplacement circle. We even set off our own fireworks. (with a permit, of course) It was a good night, but the only ethnobotanical I had was the one plant that everyone uses- nothing too exciting. The view straight down the cliff-face to the ocean, in the morning, was awe-inspiring too.
  23. I am gonna go try that right now!
  24. I haven't been a cigarette smoker for something like 2 years now, but I have noticed something that I think is unfair to smokers in Australia. When the government recently introduced their scare-tactics pictures on tobacco products; the ghastly mouth afflicted with cancer, or my personal favourite, the gangrenous foot, they opted to change the way companies were to market their cigarettes aswell. They can no longer use the words 'light', 'mild', etc. But they also removed the panel on the side of the cigarette packet that contained the 'ingredients' list. You know, it had how many grams of Nicotine, tar, and Carbon Monoxide were in each cigarette. Supposedly, the way they tested these were inaccurate, because some people would cover the holes in the filter with their fingers while inhaling, but the machines left these holes uncovered. I say, who ef-ing cares? Isn't it better to know that if you smoke Winfield Grey you will absorb approximately 0.4gm of Nicotine, and if you smoke a Winfield Blue you will absorb approx. 1.2gm of Nicotine, than to know NOTHING at all! I know they say 'light' cigarettes have just as much chance of giving you cancer, but it is a DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE! Imagine going to the chemist because you've got a headache and they offer you Panadol yellow, blue, or red. "What's the difference between the three?" you ask. "Mainly the flavour" the chemist tells you. "So, which drugs, and how much of each, will I get from one tablet of Panadol Red?" "It doesn't matter" the Chemist says, "No matter what the marketing tells you, all pain-killers kill pain, regardless of their strength." As far as I am concerned, by changing the labelling on the packet, the government have become street-level drug dealers. They are the kind of guys, who instead of selling you 100mg of MDMA, they sell you some green-speckled tablet called 'Ecstasy' containing who-knows-what. (/rant)
