Gambling addicts even have unnaturaly low dopamine levels, and see an abnormal spike in dopamine levels when they 'have a win' on the pokies, etc. When they win, they feel better than you or I do, when we have a win. People with ADD have low dopamine levels, and a high number of ADD adolescents end up self-medicating (probably without even knowing it) their condition with cannabis. As Cannabis causes a short-term increase in dopamine levels. Long-term they become lower, but at the time of ingestion, you have increased dopamine levels. I think Torsten hit the nail on the head: It is fast becoming apparent that many mental conditions actually relate back to dopamine.

Oh yeah, I remember now! If only I could register for EA. Stupid glitchy software.

Best water source for cacti? eg. tap, filtered, etc

I'd really expected this to generate some interesting conversation. I guess not. Unless people want to just watch me talk to myself. :D My family finds that amusing. -
And the shape of the seed pod aswell. Violacea seem to have a pointed seed pod, with a 'spike' protruding from the end. Whereas the wild growing, hairy species that I have found locally all have a rounded ball shape seed pod. Not to mention the actual method of growth of the seed pod. The Violacea seem to have 'claws' holding the seed pod on, but the others grew differently. Hey, I said I wasn't a botanist.

I was right! That's 475 words, WITHOUT references! No way he could've done less than 300. :D Oh, to have a brain of that capacity. On a serious note: that is a wonderfully detailed explanation, yet so easy to understand. I really do need to get a copy of Trout's notes don't I?

I agree, don't click it. Unless you like nightmares.

I don't think Mr. trout could even condense any of his knowledge down to 300 words and 5 minutes. Even on a subject he doesn't know anything about. He has forgotten more than I will ever learn, I'm sure of it.

Teo: You were just excited to see Trout posting on here, and wanted him to do your assignment for you? didn't you? didn't you? :D

There was a discussion of this only last week, somewhere on here. Try a search.

metalguru! No pirating Aussie talent! They have enough trouble making money. Give yourself a smack on the wrist. :D Ghost dog sure was a great flick, I love the music especially. RZA from Wu-tang clan did all the beats for that. He also did the music for Kill Bill. Very surprising if you've ever heard any wu-tang.

Torsten, you would be my new lover if you did this! I have spent so much time trying to work out what is what with 'morning glory' species, but with no botanical training I find it really hard. I have noticed that the few species that grow wild in my area all seem to have the hairy stems, etc. But the leaf-shapes differ, flower colours differ, some set seed and some do not, it never ends. And everyone just calls them 'morning glory'! I've collected seed samples from everything I could locally, and recorded exact locations, and physical descriptions. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know, this was my first ethnobotanical plant and holds a special place in my heart. awwwwww.

Actually, while you're at it, could you edit me out of some porno's? I feel so dirty...

quote: whats teh deal with tinfoil? It's just a joke. I believe it refers to a Simpsons episode. But also alot of other popular entertainment. Occassionally 'crazy' people will wrap their heads in tin-foil to stop aliens reading their thoughts, or something like that. It's used in alot of television, but I'm sure there is no truth or factual basis to it.

If it's ready, it will just lightly twist off in your fingers. If it requires any tugging or pulling to get it off, then wait another day or two.

Most sub spots I've heard of in the mountains are actually in bushland. Supposedly in the bush around warrimoo is a good spot. (Gee, that narrows it down to about 1000 hectares)

Yeah, 2-up do that club track. It's kind of a humorous take on the 'club tracks' of American hip-hop.

Yes, subs grow in the Blue Mountains.

Caring for Lophophora in an office environment

OK, I finally got sick of having a totally bare desk at work here, and decided that perhaps I was feeling so negative at work due to the absolute lack of plants. My little ethnobotanical garden at home is my safe haven, my 'happy place', so I thought I should bring some of that positivity to work with me. So, I ordered two little 15mm buttons from Torsten and I've been caring for them at home for about a month now. They have fattened up quite considerably since I received them, and look very plump and green. Today I've just brought one of them to work, and am currently explaining to all my colleagues that it's "just some cactus from Bunnings". Little do they realise.... :D Anyways, My desk is actually so far from a window that I'm developing rickets due to lack of sunlight. Obviously, this guy wouldn't survive for hundreds of years in air-conditioning away from any sunlight, but I'm hoping I'll get a good few years worth of growth. At least until I move on from here. Maybe the harsh conditions will even make it a very potent little button? Should I give it any special care to ensure it's survival? Maybe take it home one weekend a month or something? Probably less watering than usual? Any pointers or hints guys, as I am still quite new to cacti and succulents. Thanks in advance

Yes they do, but it's best to pick them just before they open up. When they open up, the seeds kinda shoot everywhere. Normally, the stem that the seed pod is growing on turns brown and looks like it's dead, and the 'claws' holding the pod open up. Then the seed pod will just gently twist off the vine.

Yeah, I'd hoped it would be a 'mushroom wonderland' too, but it ain't. It might be, but the people in the know probably took them all before I got there. :D Happy High Herbs in Nimbin has a few live plants. I would really recommend checking them out! They've got some things that are hard to find! Apart from that, can't think of any that are open to the public. Darcy has his business up there, but he just keeps it all online. www.herbalistics.com.au SAB was the only place I visited, apart from HHH. But you gotta visit Nimbin if you're going up that way. Just get used to the expression "smoking?", cause you'll hear it about a thousand times while you're there.
