I would have to agree with everything greendreams said. Dude knows his bruggies. If you actually 'cut' the cutting, it seems to take alot longer to take off than if you snap it off downwards. I put this down to increased surface area for root growth, but who knows. I'd never heard of the shamans recommending this, just something I observed. It's also best to go for 1-2 year old growth, nothing older, nothing younger. They will take almost any time of the year like every1 said, but as GD said, just after flowering will be least successful. Try to make the cutting well over 6" long too. Good luck. edit: my method: Snap off small branch, pick off all the larger leaves, leaving new shoots only. Dip snapped end into rooting hormone, stick in pot of soil. Water daily, or as needed. Watch it start growing within 2 weeks!

I think the key thing to remember is that we, the people discussing this, are all of the 'tripper' mindset. We have had our 'heads cracked open' by psychedelics, most of us anyway, and if we were administered drugs without our knowledge, we would probably just go with it. I would be scared, but I would ride it out until I could deem how dangerous the situation was. If you took someone who has never been intoxicated, or maybe only on alcohol, and drugged them without their knowledge they would FLIP out! Open eye visuals are signs of madness to someone who isn't expecting/hasn't experienced a trip before. If you know someone who could benefit from drug use, I would point them to Erowid, and suggest they educate themselves on (drug X). Tell them you are willing to offer them some, as you think they may benefit from a singular experience. Tell them it's non-addictive, etc. Educate them, like Apothecary says, and let them make the decision. If they aren't ready, then they probably won't benefit from the experience anyway.

Two free online games I play at the moment, which are both great, but VERY different; The Endless Forest - http://tale-of-tales.com/TheEndlessForest/ "You are a stag, a male deer. So are the other players. You meet each other in an endless forest on the internet. The setting is idyllic, the atmosphere peaceful. You communicate with one another through sounds and body language." This is a screensaver, and you will want a reasonably modern computer to run it. It is just like they say, you are a beautiful stag in a beautiful forest and you just play with other stags and enjoy the wonders of the forest. There is no way to communicate with text, only the deer's body-language. It's cool, and very different! There were Amanita's popping up everywhere today! I've never seen them before. & Urban Dead - http://www.urbandead.com/ A great, HTML-based Massively-multiplayer role-playing game. No downloads, or nothing. Just create a character! The city of Malton has somehow become infected with a typical Zombie virus. The dead are rising and eating the living. You start out as either a human(various classes) or a Zombie, and whenever a human player dies, he comes back as a Zombie. Never fear, there are some classes that can 'revive' zombies back to humans. So, you're not stuck as a zombie forever. There are XP points, levels, skills, different weapons, building barricading, radio communication, graffiti, etc, etc. It's a full-on RPG and only real players. No NPC characters. I once spent 2 weeks with a group of 200 other human players holding off 500 Zombies from busting into a mall we were holding, but it got to the point where they were breaking our barricades down every 10 minutes. Eventually, after enough break-ins, we'd all been bitten and got infected so it just became a mall filled with 700 Zombies! This game is addictive, beware. edited for spelling

Sorry I missed it Ed, but a happy belated birthday. A gentleman who has done as much for the cacti-loving community as you have, deserves to have had some very good celebrations!

Not really. To be honest, IME, I haven't noticed anything that outstanding from either of them. But, stoners tend to be bad subjects fot noticing anything 'mild'. lol.

Yeah you don't have to get an ECG, but my parents decided to actually go for some kind of measurable test, rather than symptoms alone. Any paediatrician can prescribe ritalin for children, when you're over 18 any psychiatrist can prescribe it. It's up to them how much testing they want to do before giving you the drugs and many don't do any at all.

That's Lions TAIL isn't it? You want foliage from white or orange flowering variants?

Hebrew, your Peruvian friend isn't interested in making some Au$ is he? I'm sure there'd be enough people on here to warranty a large quantity. Sounds like something I'd love to try! I'll get it sent to my PO Box if you want! lol.

Yeah, my buddy in New Zealand hasn't wet the leaves in over a year, apart from when he waters it or when it rains and she only needs watering two or three times a week at the most, these days. They are super adaptive aren't they?

Yes & Yes It's undiagnosed in alot of ppl. But diagnosed incorrectly in others.

A mate I talk to on MSN grows Sally in a mountain climate in New Zealand, and he says he has them outdoors where it gets as cold as 2degreesC overnight with no ill effects. He just protects them from frost by putting them under trees. It took 2 years of acclimatisation using greenhouses and misting, but he has definitely turned his into alpine Sally. EDIT: Oh yeah, Conan, I forgot to say: Congratulate your friend for me. That's awesome!

I agree, BB sucks, but from what I have seen it is semi-sustainable living. They have little mushroom farms, that they were cooking for dinner the other night. They've got a vegie patch, and a cow that they milk. They then leave the milk in a little cupboard and it is returned, pasteurised in a bottle. (If you totally believe BB) It's kind of cool. But it doesn't make the premise of the show any more interesting.

Direction of this forum

Great works guys! Nice idea for a forum indeed. I've been trying to leave as little imprint on the earth as I can, for a few years now. As an ex-vegan, I've still got all those tree-hugging ideals, and try to help out Gaia as much as I can -
Don't worry guys, I just always explode when people start bashing Ritalin as a medication. No hurt feelings at my end, I hope there's none at yours. I also agree children should not be on it. I wasn't diagnosed till 15 or 16, as I said above, so my brain was quite well developed by that point. You should not put any developing little brain on any drug, regularly. Full-stop. My chemical levels were tested via ECG (I think it's called). Where they put electrodes all over your brain(EDIT:scalp, not brain. lol) and get you to carry out a series of mental & hand/eye tests. I think by seeing the activity of your brain-waves, they can postulate your approximate chemical levels, in ratio to each other anyway.

At one point my average, according to account stats, was over 20 posts/day. Back when I was working in an office, and before I spent like 9 months without posting once.... And, much like Ace, most of mine are full of useless data. Not much learning from my posts. But it's the crap-talking that gives the community it's atmosphere.

I think the TGA is ridiculous.

Driving from Sydney to Gold Coast this Wed, want to split costs?

WTF?!?! Are you in Sydney? And you didn't contact me? -
I've got ADHD. I find Methylphenidate/Ritalin to be the only truly effective tool at improving my attention span. I was set to drop out in year 10, I was in trouble every day and horribly underachieving. Being diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Ritalin probably saved my life. I was in a horrible self-destructive spiral and I felt I couldn't even control my own behaviour the way I wanted to. I almost instantly became a friendlier, assertive, productive young person, and years later I am still benefitting from Ritalin. But I only use it when i work. Fuck I hate Ritalin bashers. Yes, AD(H)D is over-diagnosed, but the kids who really have it can't fix it with diet. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain! It can be managed better through diet and exercise, but it doesn't make it go away. If you understood anything of the condition, you would know that amphetamines, etc, don't stimulate genuine ADD sufferers in the same way as 'normal' people either. So, yes, kids do need amphetamines if they have a chemical imbalance, that can be corrected by that drug. Do the research. I thought this was an 'academic' forum?

For me, 'Zyban' was quitting hax. I took it, stopped smoking, and didn't really crave at all. When i occassionally caved in to my physical habit, and bludged a cigarette off a smoking friend, I wouldn't get any Nicotine and I'd throw it away half way through. Drugs that block nicotine receptors are cool. I really couldn't report a single side-effect for myself either. I know friends who felt 'funny' mentally, whilst on Zyban, but for me it was just a magic cure! (I was not paid to say this, there is a less-expensive alternative to the afore mentioned drug now)

Fake accounts = poor taste. It undermines the community, in my opinion.

SBS receive 10% of their funding from the government. So they didn't spend much of our money on it. And, they started ads over a year ago now guys. I swear. They had a big campaign, explaining it at the time. Yes, they needed more funding. But, to their credit, they've got some awesome shows these days. They have, but haven't shown, the 3rd season of Chappelle's show. That must be an expensive TV program to buy. Highest selling TV DVD of all time, I believe?

A shopping centre can't legally enforce a fine. They could take you to civil court, but c'mon. I park wherever I want in shopping centre car parks(except handicap spots). I'm a money-spending customer so they can get f-ed if they want to fine me. I've already just ignored 3 'fines' from Penrith Plaza. Like they can make me pay!

Yes, I would advise doing it on it's own aswell. I've never tried 2CB, but I remember when I was overseas I got the chance to try 2CI, 2CE & 2CT7. All in some way similar in their effects, but 2CE made me vomit for 2 hours, and I then spent the next 4 hours shivering and twitching uncontrollably. This was repeatable at a lower dose aswell. So, my body doesn't like 2CE, I decided. It was still pretty amazing, as far as visuals, but the feeling of 'poisoning/a bad trip' was not worth it. Best of luck to your mate. Tell him to just wait until he comes down from the bee's and then have some MDMA. Make it 12 hours of fun!
