Hi peeps. Long time, no post. I'm travelling to the south island of New Zealand in a week and a half. Being a bit out of touch with ethnobotany these days I'm not sure what is still legal over there. I'm looking for people to recommend any ethnobotanical-type products I should try while there, that I can't try here in aus. Aswell as anything cool I can view at the Bot. gardens, or even the location of a good 'head-shop' type place to procure any interesting herbs. Even beautiful hiking spots, or anything cool they don't mention in normal tourist literature. Please do not suggest anything illegal. I don't want to rot in a 3rd world, foreign gaol.

That offer sounds great but probably alot of effort for both of us considering I will only be in the Sth island, and moving around from town to town each day. I will check out the headshop though. AndyAmine: it has been too long brother. I couldn't ever forget you. Kat and I were talking about you just last week. If I find anything I can bring back I will keep you in mind. So, any confirmation on bringing Kava back into Aus? I have always loved Kava, and really miss it. I think Torsten might know a bit more about legalities???

Thanks for the input so far peeps. Fiordland was definitely on my list, but I was thinking mainly east coast for my travels. Maybe west is the way to go? So can anyone confirm that it is definitely still 2kg of kava you can bring back, and especially from NZ?

The Blue Mountains are happening. Went hunting for edibles on the weeked and netted a huge amount of saffron milky's and slippery jacks. We're eating well at my place. Saw heaps of those small golden coloured guys too but they really seem to want some decent rain. They all looked very dry and as someone else said, they were only growing in low points, or under large amounts of leaf litter. Of course I didn't pick any, they're not edible.

I only just discovered this new hybrid today myself. I was checking on my mate Darcy's shop, as I haven't looked at his stock in a while, and discovered this little gem. This is such a great idea and could well be a valuable addition to the Ethnobot community. Only time will tell, I guess. Would love to hear people's exp. with this plant. Growing/caring and otherwise.

It's been 2 years without net but I'm back. In that time I've been arrested, served a 12 month good behaviour bond, quit visiting shiva daily, moved into an apartment and watched my plants suffer from lack of micro-climates, been tattoo'd 6 times, and even had my license suspended, which I will get back in 7 weeks. I've missed everyone, and it's great to see so many new names. Just wanted to say hi to everyone, and apologise for my absence. I can't promise daily visits, but I'll be lurking....

What could one hope to get from 63gm of fresh T. Bridgesii flesh? (Monstrose, Penis Plant) Just wondering cause I scored a whole bunch of them, and have about 63gm of cuttings sitting there at the moment, callousing. I would rather plant them, but what kind of quantity of Mescaline would you imagine to be in these plants? Just a theoretical question.

Finally got a pressure cooker, Kat gave it to me for my b'day. So, I'ma grow some mushrooms! Anyone got a spore syringe of some cold weather edibles they want to sell/trade? Maybe some Oysters or something like that? I'm not really picky, just keen to try growing mushrooms for the first time, and looking even more forward to eating them. FunkyFungus has agar cultures ATM, but I don't want to have to make a syringe myself....

yeah, for preparation, dry the root, grind it to a fine powder and smoke it. Otherwise, do an extract after powdering, and smoke THAT shit! Doesn't seem to contain any Oxalic acid, not the stuff I've tried anyway.

Mine seem to have lost all their foliage. For the first time in 3-4 years. Are they just dead? Has anyone had this happen?

I've been seeing them in the Blue Mountains, NSW, for the past 3 months. They are starting to taper off now, though. You may have missed it buddy.

Biggest mushroom I've ever seen growing at the farm I work at was a mutant Flat, that weighed about 4.5kg's. That was as big as a dinner plate. But that thing is a monster! Wow! And, yeah, there's nothing wrong with picking a mushroom. As long as it's veil has broken, it's done it's job.
