  2. “I've never been lonely. I've been in a room -- I've felt suicidal. I've been depressed. I've felt awful -- awful beyond all -- but I never felt that one other person could enter that room and cure what was bothering me...or that any number of people could enter that room. In other words, loneliness is something I've never been bothered with because I've always had this terrible itch for solitude. It's being at a party, or at a stadium full of people cheering for something, that I might feel loneliness. I'll quote Ibsen, "The strongest men are the most alone." I've never thought, "Well, some beautiful blonde will come in here and give me a fuck-job, rub my balls, and I'll feel good." No, that won't help. You know the typical crowd, "Wow, it's Friday night, what are you going to do? Just sit there?" Well, yeah. Because there's nothing out there. It's stupidity. Stupid people mingling with stupid people. Let them stupidify themselves. I've never been bothered with the need to rush out into the night. I hid in bars, because I didn't want to hide in factories. That's all. Sorry for all the millions, but I've never been lonely. I like myself. I'm the best form of entertainment I have. Let's drink more wine!”

  3. We had a heat wave that began the day after I planted them & the temps in my house went over 40 deg for a few days after I planted them so I think they overheated.

mine maybe the same as nothing up yet, still waiting with patience, but i have had seed see hotter days then what ive had and germinate,.i planted mine on the 20th/11 still nothing up..sowed the seed into a mixture of coarse propagating sand on top, and mineral soil mix of gravel, coarse sand and perlite underneath which is what I usually use to line the bottom of container(takeaway tek) for the roots to grow into.I used no sterilisation either.

keeping the faith they still germinate anyday now!

  4. he has a massive drinking patio thats undercover like most ppl in darwin do they seem to put there beer drinking area before the rest of there house, so perhaps i can just deck that out with cacti....the problem with some kinda undercover shadehouse(greenhouse) is if I want something of considerable size it has to be built cyclone proof which could be $ jinka $ so it doesnt blow away in cyclone season otherwise my cacti may end up in several nearby propertys which would suck!

  5. thanks rahli, just my cacti moving, i may have to do fly in occasionally to tend to them, as my brother has been known to have a black thumb and to his property they are going as he is jungle style.....and I can put hothouses on his property which is my plan as im in a rental.....yeah shade houses sound like the go with some kinda rain protection...

  6. cheers got, i imagine it can be done and most likely cacti would thrive in these conditions with the adaptions that you say...im thinking a purpose built green house would be ideal excess ventilation and fans in the hot house to remove the excess heat...this what ive been thinking also....

  7. I wondering if there is anyone that grows cacti in darwin? and how they do with the humidity and rainfall, since im a victorian and have no experience with the tropical monsoon weather that darwin has constantly and its wet season? would humidity levels be an issue with, slowgrowing cacti such a turbincarpus, arios and lophophora and other mexican genera of cacti? are there any forum members growing trichocereus or mexcian species in the northern territory(darwin) and how do they do?

Im after this information as im considering on relocating alot of my cacti to the northern tip of Australia to preferably relocate them into a greenhouse environment ??? to perhaps deal with the rainfall that darwin receives in its wet season, I am considering this as land and space is not an issue for me, where as here ive run out of space, i have family there with acreage property.. would hate to loose my collection of slowgrowers that ive collected over the years and are acclimatised to victorian weather tho.. So if there is any darwin or related areas cacti enthusiasts I would love to hear your advice...thanks!

LCD cant use a plasma for gaming due to image burn! sony bravo make a good TV for xbox gaming thats what my mate uses and he is a xbox wizard lives on the damn thing 24/7.

  9. looks alittle like fungal rust! quarternary ammonium compounds are good for that kinda thing...but like EG says better to let plant build and fight its own infections then resulting to fungicides and chemicals...i know an old cactus grower who never uses pesticides nothing and has some amazing old ariocarps and lophs...just lets mother nature do its thing...certainly in my circumstances I think I wouldnt have collection if it wasnt for neem!
