    Perth ginseng.

it needs to be grown under a canopy of trees with high rainfall, like zen peddler said the yarra and dandenong ranges are ideal, as are the mountain propertys of tassie....my mate is trying to farm it, he cold stratifys the seeds for 12 months before planting, as he lives in a forest with high winter rainfall & ideal growing conditions, the art of patience is required to grow this one... Cheapest option for seed here:-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100-pcs-Changbai-Mount-Ginseng-Seeds-Grow-Your-Ginsengs-/180651904404?pt=AU_Plants_Seeds_Bulbs&hash=item2a0fb14d94 Or bulk here:-http://www.gssa.net.au/
  3. pm sent. These seeds are tricky buggers to germinate as they have staggered dormancy.

    Interesting find!

yeah, i think it may be ok, as the way i see it would of been treated to get into the US im thinking and the wood looks stained, so we shall see what happens, quarantine are always full of little surprises, but god bless them imagine if we didnt have them, we are a lucky country and we must be thankful for quarantine otherwise we would all have 3rd world country small pox or some kinda bizarre exotic parasitic disease lurking in our midst! Also that store has few other shaman staffs there if others are interested in them also!

    Iboga harvesting Q

I reckon the whole plant contains alkaloids, in the leaves as well, Ive chewed quite afew fresh leaves with notable effects and very noticable strong acrid alkaloidal taste, that gave me the assumption that the leaves could be valued for possible further research, also perhaps my bodys chemistry responds postive to the effects of of this plant, I found the leaves had strong sedating effect, mind you i chewed quite a few leaves over a period of hours, I ended up stripping a small waist height plant back to a bare stem as it was going to lose it leaves soon for winter anyway! Please note:I do not recommend this or can say it would work for others, as there is always dangers or risks involved on how ppl will respond to different things, i did this for my own research value on my own spiritual path!
  11. yup its possible, create the right enviroment for them they will grow, any plant given adequate light, airflow, heat and nutrients as close to there natural enviroment as possible will grow..this can become quite complex, if one wishes to do it correctly. Especially in a hydroponic enviroment one must be prepared to spend the capital needed to manage pests and diseases, power expenses, heat, lighting, nutrients,ph testers, buffers etc, all can accumulate pretty quickly in price... To grow anything hydroponically, it has to be done right(ive found) otherwise there will just be endless poor health and problems. The one thing most ppl neglect is airflow and this is one of the most important things in creating a healthy enviroment..ducting,exhaust fans etc, having adequate airflow for c02 and pest and disease management, whilst maintaining an appropriate temperature to gain maximum growth rate in the grow enviroment can become quite tricky(especially in winter) without fine tuning or spending extra cash on power consumption! but all this sure does make for a wonderful rewarding hobbie, with its ups & downs and challenges!

    watering cuttings over winter

I had some cuts goin and i was bringing them inside @ night as its getting cold and been abit of rain lately, I turn the heater on @ night and it dryed my pots out no worrys and they even formed roots ultra quick, mind you they get pretty warm inside at night with the heater going, so much so i think i cooked some cacti seeds i had in humidty dome on a heat pad as they havnt risen yet! ive now returned the cuts outside for winter in a hothouse, with nice dry pots and small roots for the winter, i think the vic winter is about to kick in, so i would lay off with the water and start drying cacti out, I have no choice as winter here is super eskimo like! Also i will probably try and root more cuts with this heater inside method all thru winter, im confident it will work....

  21. Yeah quarantine charges $42.00 dollars to return send to the sender, this is a letter i got for some seeds i ordered, or they destroy them for free(I cant decide what the better option is ) just give me the goods and i can return send for $6.00 quarantine must use those special gold sealed envelopes or stamps that cost $40.00....Actually they sent me quite a friendly letter and even gave me the seeds i wanted the most and kept the ones that were not so important...keep up the good work AQIS love ya work and a pleasure doin business with ya! Destroy the goods for free, cant get a better deal then that! I guess to light a fire costs zilch compared to government envelopes and stamps!

    Hydroponic Ethnobotanicals

my setup is in my garage its built of bricks, but still gets damn cold i only use this set up for winter, summer i let my stuff grow natural, if you are growing in a coco coir medium invest in the nutrients that are used for coco, theres tons of companys selling over priced nutrients, i use on my cacti in a medium of sand, course sand and gravel, at a dilute strength i alternate between grow and bloom nutrient formulas fortnightly to monthly, silica occasionally and a product called zone which keeps the root system healthy and sterilises bad stuff(all these are dutchmaster brand) also i give em the occasional dose of superthrive and ive also started to feed my plants nutrifield herbal boost, also which is made from the root of sophora and increases photoalexin production and i use CO2 enricha during the night time period, im also fond of of a product called halo harpin which activates a natural defense in a host plant systemic acquired resistance (SAR)....mind you all this is fed at sometimes over a period of weeks, as im growing cacti i keep there nutrients in very fair doses so as not to overkill them, which can be easy in an indoor enviroment....i run 2 HPS lights at 250w and one 14000k CFL 250W all @ 18hrs aday which is alot of stress but maximum growth rate, which I alternate and routinely trade pots under fortnightly, this lighting is kinda overkill for cacti some may say but im lighting half my garage and i need heat, i use shade cloth set ups for some that dont like to much light and nanny curtains also...im very big on building disease resistence and pest management which can cripple a plant in aweek in an indoor enviroment. ive invested alot of cash into this and im still fine tuning and open to learn more...i would post a photo but i dont know how it just comes up with http:...?????????

    Hydroponic Ethnobotanicals

there good i use a 14000k one, will work like a charm, but i found it alittle cold for my climate i have real cold nights here(far south vic), if you dont need heat these are fine, 14000k is pretty intense the 6400k may be better, they work nice though they pretty good on electricity to, my bill went up 30 bucks running 18 hrs although i may have caught the end of the electricity month when i was running it...also coco coir is the bomb. Ive never used MH lights so i cant comment on them, havnt used those HPS cooled kits either...but any one of those lights, will do the trick, its mainly about nutrients when you want the best results indoors, invest in a ph meter there pricey but will give you the benefit of maximum nutrient and uptake for the plant,...id try the 6400k CFL fluoro for psychotria and those kinda plants...

    tobacco trade

Japanese tobacco is pretty good, i smoke mild sevens(Tailors) from japan when i can get em, there cheaper even with the cost of freight, my mother inlaw lives there so occasionally i get a parcel with sake and cigs which brings a smile!...there cigs taste smoother for some reason also, perhaps because there not made by phillip morris who is trying to poison us all, with there companies secret blend of carcinogens!
