  1. and some stats about drug use in australia taken from 2004, mentions just the usual suspects i.e. weed, meth, ecstasy, booze, cigarettes, http://www.aihw.gov.au/publications/index.cfm/title/10143 simply no reported use of dmt, mescaline, datura, or anything else on the new list may help with your submissions to fire some stats at them.. [edit]sorry, forgot the link...[/edit] [edit edit]2007 stats, probably more relevant, essentially the same thing[/edit edit] http://www.aihw.gov.au/publications/phe/ndshs07-fr/ndshs07-fr-no-questionnaire.pdf
  2. heres a list of submissions i think are related to the current proposal http://www.nationaldrugstrategy.gov.au/internet/drugstrategy/publishing.nsf/Content/NDSSubmissionsReceived i haven't read through them all yet though
  3. i predict this to be picked up by the rest of the news media in a few weeks, i guess nows the time for that charismatic leader?
  4. i hope so, i wrote to greens senator adam bandt and listed this as one of the points (that outlawing the plants will put profits into organised crime). I requested his opinion on the matter but on second thoughts i don't think he'll respond, i suppose the greens don't want a "leaked email scandal". stoked too about mx, i don't read it but it's cool nonetheless.
  5. sure. but about the drugs, the model specifically states that it's purpose is prevent the proceeds of drugs going to organised crime "The Government recently declared its commitment to target the criminal economy at the launch of the Organised Crime Strategic Framework.2 One means of achieving this outcome is by targeting one of the primary markets of organised crime – the importation, domestic production and distribution of illicit drugs." so to me, their whole proposal is based on stopping drugs, which evidently they think brugmansia and acacia are reasonable targets to prevent organised crime. at least, this is one of my arguments, that these plants are in no way used to fund organised crime. still, i do get that it shouldn't be about "legalise drugs", rather than the above.
  6. do you suppose it would be worth contacting these guys: Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation http://adlrf.org.au/charter/ seems exactly the sort of political clout we need..
  7. i noticed there was no mention of anadenanthera colubrina, seeing as the actual plant contains no dmt will it come under these laws aswell (they specifically mention peregrina, but no colubrina)
  8. hi, i was just thinking, would it be worthwhile to have an online form where you can send a template submission straight to the [email protected] email address, perhaps through the saveourpllants website or somewhere else? i remember doing this for some getup campaigns, and maybe getup wont have time to mobilise a campaign before the end of the submission date. the availability of an easy submission form may persuade some people to hit send whereby they may have thought they were otherwise too busy or whatever to do themselves.
  9. i suppose one could also mentioned the endangered/protected status of Acacia phlebophylla, or any other endangered species which may fall under the proposed laws
  10. i suppose outlawing calcium would make every multivitamin in australia illegal, not to mention milk, cabbage etc. uff, this is some of the most ill thought ridiculous crap i've read. i'll just say i'll leave the wording of the complaints to those with more knowledge than my self, but i'll support whatever proposals for combating this, do you think writing to the greens would help blocking it in the senate? i mean, they are basically a subsidiary of Labour Corp. now but still,

gold tops picked today in nnsw

sources say drying on a oil heater overnight (on low) wrapped in a shadecloth type material will dry to crisp (crumbly) with no noticable loss in potency.

    Where to begin?

i found the words of dogen to be extremely beneficial some time ago when i was experiencing "issues" theres an online free translation of the nishijima/cross translation which is one of the better translations at the numata centre (.numatacenter.com/default.aspx?MPID=81) it requires some thought and may not make sense in places, but soto zen is a blissful philosophy i've found buddhism in general really, if i sound preachy i apologise in advance best,
  14. hi, i just recently learned of canadian mining companies legal loopholing to perform destructive open pit mining on land which has been declared sacred and protected: not that a petition is going to stop this, but may help get the word out: (this is most of the info i could find, if anyone has any more links plese post) http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/proclamation-in-defense-of-wirikuta/ http://salvemoswirikuta.blogspot.com/2010/08/huichol-route-through-sacred-sites-to.html

    The Great Global Cooling/Warming Thread

i don't understand why people would argue for not trying to reduce pollution? which is what you're saying when saying nothing needs to be done,,
  16. this is more or less how i see it. the fact that the land was declared sacred and protected, then was allowed to be mined anyway says that the mexican government can and will do whatever, without consulting indigenous populations. it's about the fact that the natives were not consulted before this was allowed to go ahead, now their sacred lands which are central to their culture are going to uprooted and destroyed. I don't for a second think that the mexican government can, and will, either look the other way or sign off on dodgy environmental impact statements if the price is right. imagine the outcry that would ensue if this was to happen in australia? if no one could stand for it in their own country, i don't see why they could stand for it in another part of the world.
  17. cheers, i'll read that over coffee in the morning,,
  18. i should say after i went back to sleep the same strawberry began to grow and dissolve again in the same hyper vivid manner but i woke up when i realised what was happening.
  19. funny you should mention this, the other night i had a dream/hypnogogia which was quite interesting, I was walking though a forest/garden of some sort, with a "group" of three (it was just a group in concept, there was really only me), we came to a wall of a garden where there were these inhabitants who were the guardians (they were a type of family) of the area beyond, we requested to travel over the wall, and they went to ask the central guardian if it was OK. the "father"/central guardian appeared and was like a multicoloured metallic chrysanthemum type being, who asked "you want to pass eh?" somewhat condescendingly/mockingly. He then began to spin wildly and the multicoloured fractal fireworks began to spin from between the petals, getting bigger and bigger and encompassing my field of vision. this is where I became aware of my dream, and things got incredibly vivid. a strawberry begins to grow in my field of vision, and the red fruit begins to multiple like cells. the central strawberry kind of melts and becomes a brown/grey type thing and the father spins through bringing with it the fractal fireworks which totally engulf me. I open my eyes and I'm lying in bed and the fractals persist and are filling up my room/field of vision. the mean while a maraca type sound begins to materialise and get louder and louder, it gets really loud. at the same time these cricket sounds begin to materialise and I'm being deafened by these sounds now. when they are as loud as can be these nymph like voices speak in some mumbling language, seeming to mock me. then some people start entering my room and I'm freaking out because I thought I locked my door but theres people in my room and I'm afraid. after this light and sound show continues for a while I'm freaking out a bit and shake the dream off, and I'm lying not peacefully in my bed and everythings normal. I get up to check my door and find I did lock it, I was just freaking out.

    indoor trichocereus?

hello, i'd like to grow a little tricocereus of some sort and was wondering if they're fine for indoors? i live in a studio apartment and personal belongings in common areas are banned, plus i've had cacti in pots stolen from previous apartments. the window i have gets sun in the morning and obviously indirect light in the afternoon, when its open it's quite well lit. will trichocereus do ok indoors? thanks for help, qualia, p.s. how do you pronounce bridgesii?
