  1. I hate amassing my posts with stupid bullshit like this thread has amounted too, as opposed to the legitimate, educational quality material i am here to absorb, learn from, and hopefully creatively and constructively contribute to, which is certainly not where chef/rumple got his post counts from.... Look through his content and see how much general bullshit banter there is!

Max Cady, I am truly VERY sorry that my anger and insolence at this whole ordeal amounted to me using a term that would be considered racist / anti-semitic, and for that i can appreciate being called a cunt! That is so far from my normal form, but i will not edit the post , for i did indeed say it!

More angry now that this thread has degenerated to the point of good reputable members now arguing with each other!

I would never resort to violence, especially over 20 Turbinicarpus lophoides seeds. But the deception is painful, especially when you are so keen yourself to try and be as kind and giving as possible, only 2 be deceived not once, but twice by the same person!

And as golttop suggested, when your down to your last $3, having 1 taken off you can be a big deal!

I am always willing to forgive, but forgetting is not so easy. My general disdain at this whole ordeal, will no doubt lead me to be cautious for the next year or so with newbies, which is purely a result of the deception that RUmple has caused!

Be a man(or woman) and be responsible for your actions! I still have fuckups within this community going on at this point but i dont run from them.....i explain myself.....how im going to fix the problem....and generally follow through with it...

Final recommendation! Hang around the forums, learn from them, fix your mistakes, stop posting so much bullshit, and giveback to the forum that gave so openly to both of you!

  2. Yeah same man...we came looking for you......me and Darkspark were up the back of the caravan park, with a really big community group that was represented by ourselves and others in the march.

I had the string on the whole wknd, along with my crocs, that gave me mad blisters after having muddy feet for 4 days straight....

Cops took 3 ounces or so of our stuff, made me try and drink from my 'vinegar pourer', attempted to make our friend eat the 'lettuce on the table', and eventaulyl told us to keep our 'pesto' out of sight lol.

All in all the officers in the town were great, and i feel that next year they may even be able to ask us for some ganja, instead of having to take it and say that "it is going to be disposed of", and there is no paperwork involved, and no one is even cautioned lol.

  3. Did he come clean because Torsten noticed same ip loggin from both accounts or something ro come clean of his own accord,,,

If of his own accord then no hard feelings, and im one of the people he forgot to trade....

Chefs Foreskin....man you could have just told me whatwas going on....we are a pretty understanding lot around here but deception is def not the way to go

While we are on the TOpic

    Joshie

    is knobbly x wax

I know it is a cross, as they are self sterile, so it has to be the cross... see this thread for more details on the plants genetics (mum and dad)

  5. lol cactuscarl that sounds so reminiscent of all my experiences at mardigrass. I missed it last year for the first time in like 7 years, but most of them are usually spent down in the camping fields within a 100m radius of tent, as im way too fucked up to do much else Really hope i can meet ya down there buddy....

All SABérs should all wear or do the same identifying mark, so when we run into each other, we know that we are chatting to a fellow SABer?

something as simple as a pen in our top pockets? i dont know any ideas?

  6. Listen to Halcyon Daze...really knows what there talking about ......I simply planted a bunch of of em (rusticia) , and within a couple of months, several species of my beloved chillis, and brugmansias fell victim to the dreaded Mossaic Tobacco Virus.

If you have beloved solonacae family plants growing, dont grow shitter solonacae plants in their vicinity, and be sure to crop rotate (ie no solonacae planting where solonacae already were)

  7. i would have given those loph/peres babies some humidity to help them take....its cold atm in NZ and east coast aus at night, and the cold might slow the graft down? I uslally graft and then into humidy domes for 14-28 days and i vent them off every day if possible to stop issues with too much moisture, but ive only ever had 2 peres grafts fail and ive now done about 100....my first was only 27/2/11

  8. Also, a curiousity I came across a couple years ago is that some leafy cacti actually employ CAM in their stems and C3 in their leaves, when transpiration becomes too excessive they drop their leaves and rely on CAM, when the conditions become more moderate they grow leaves and exploit the advantages of C3. Pretty cool!

Pereskopsis is one of these? Maybe the c3 is one of the reasons pere has exceptional growth rates for scions. I have noticed some direct corellation between stem thickness and No. of Leaves as to the rate of growth of scions, although im pretty sure some reputable members here also dispute this.

This CAM is the reason they can not adapt a 24/0 light cycle?

I do a 18/6 with my pere/loph grafts, and they seem to absolutely love it.....the humidy chamber gets closed up each night, where i beleive the CAM produces lots of warm CO2, as even though they are enarly dry, there is so much condensation on the chambers each morning, makes me think the CAM is speeding up the heating of the chambers as well.

  9. Got thankyou so much man......Multicrop Pyrethrum Spray (ready to use spray)...have a bottle of this lying around, and was just about to go hit all my trichos in the next week for scale with it, but i think ill just let the scale be.....orr naja naja naturasoap!

  10. WIll also be there with DarkSpark!

look for the guy with the big black russian hat as it gets cooler (like kyle from southpark but black)

my white vs commodore will be our mode of flying whilst down there RHA is the letters of my plate!

Cmon guys.....i want to meet some of you in the flesh.....except darkspark as i already know he is one ugly mug ;)

Ill be bringing my seed cases, but if anyone wants me to bring actual plants or cuttings down, please let me know before friday!

If anyone i still owe seeds to is going......you will be HOOKED UP if i see you there!

  11. honestly after my first attempt, which was a failure with a knife, ive never used any BUT a razor blade(just the blade too, never in a utility knife)...just make sure its new and not rusty. I basically use/go through one every 2-3 grafting sessions, and i actually add a little butter to the actual blade part when im finished, and wipe it off next time i use, as it acts as a great rust inhibitor.

*NOTE the thing with peres is the scions used are generally VERY small, young and easy to 'crush', to the MAJOR thing is to ensure you "DRAG or SLIDE" and NOT "PUSH or CRUSH" the blade through the scion. I slowly slide from one side of the blade through until i feel it very slightly cutting into my finger.

I have ALWAYS sterilized my tools, and attribute the 3 failures to the hygiene of the environment or tools, as i have had the same species that failed, also succeed.

I clean the blade, cut the peres, then cut a tiny piece to sit on top without cleaning in between, then clean, then cut scion, remove top piece of pereskopsis, sit scion off-centered on top and apply minimal downward pressure whilst making the union.

Ive never used iso-propyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol), but have heard it is the best.

I just use acetone, or vodka when i don't have any, and i ran out recently even of vodka, so i actually used raspberry vodka with great success too.....

Just remember to dry your blade after cleaning with a clean piece of tissue/toilet paper, so the cleaning agent doesn't dehydrate your stock/scion as you make the cut.
