    Ask the person below you

Dr Rick Strassman ;) .. Actually half of what he wrote in The Spirit Molecule is based on fact, though I did enjoy reading some of his theories, which I guess haven't really been proven to be fact or fiction. Favourite Ethno Plant?

    Kayak camping recommendations

Are you planning on hiring Kayaks from somewhere, then taking them camping? If so, I'd recommend Bent's Basin. Though I'm not sure what your definition of a 'bush camp' might be. Bent's basin is a camping ground, and there are no caravans or cabins etc. Although I think they've installed amenities since the last time I went there. Where you camp is generally a nice big clearing, but the location is surrounded by bush. There are also some really nice bush walks around the basin, with caves and look outs. However I don't think you can hire any Kayaks or Canoes at there. If you're mega keen to get amongst the great outdoors, you can canoed or kayak from Bents Basin to Penrith area over a weekend. I've done it before and it's quite nice. Definitely an awesome trip for some bonding and sleeping under the stars along side a river (not at a 'camping site' though). You would have to pack very light, with a 6 year old though, as last time I did it, we had to carry the Kayak over a few rocks. Actually, because of this it might not be suitable for the little guy. If you're looking for a place that allows you to hire, and camp in the same area you could try the Royal National Park. I know there is a place there you can hire Kayaks and Canoes from, though I'm not sure what it's called or if there are camping areas near the river. Hope you find what you're looking for Marcel, sounds like you're in for a nice trip with your son.

    MHRB

If it was possible to source MHRB within Australia, would there be any real concern having such an item posted via regular post to your house? Given it can and would be as a dye. Or is the item seen as illegal, and as such, there is risk involved?

    Tagetes lucida

I've only purchased some seeds recently, but definitely something I'll be investigating in the future as well. The following is an extract from herbalistics.. "Traditionally smoked by the Huichol Indians of Mexico either with Nicotiana rustica or alone to induce visions. It is still used today as an incense in Mexico. Also called Yuauhtli, Tumutsali or Pericon. Tagetes lucida contains salvinorin-like substances whose structures have not yet been fully clarified (Ratsch, 1998)." Sounds quite interesting. I'd also love to hear about anyone's experiences with this plant.

  8. Hey guys, In an attempt to tidy up and shrink my collection, I'll be selling a T.Bridgesii var Psycho0, and a Rosei #1 (See pictures below). As i've seen a quite a few auctions / bidding sales as of late, i've also decided to run with that option. No bids via PM, and bidding will finish Sunday week the 25th of September at 9pm Bidding price does not include postage. (Cacti will be sent from Sydney, and i'll update tomorrow with approximate weight, so you have a rough idea on postage) Psycho 35cm (rooted) The Psycho0 has been de-spined, although it has a solid root base and is in great condition with no scaring, damage, pests or disease. Rosei # 1 20cm I wish I could say Rosei was also in great condition, but she's got quite a lot of scaring (Impulse buy, without seeing pictures = bad idea). Happy bidding to all Cheers, Justler

vegan parents starve baby to death

I'm all for the concept of Veganism and completely against cruelty to animals, but that story is just ridiculous! There is no excuse for a baby to die in a country like the US from starvation.

    Digitaria species

Sounds interesting, though according to "Plant alkaloids: a guide to their discovery and distribution" - By Robert Francis, quite a few of the species are also inactive, though they may still have nutritious seeds. See page 100 and 101 http://books.google.com.au/books?id=qxjEWPlFOc4C&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=Digitaria+species+alkaloids&source=bl&ots=CTXw4rt5K9&sig=bExkXvMM3mQSoj11kO5sLNwxWGA&hl=en&ei=VoZkTvrlGa6fiAfWsb3ECg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CEEQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=Digitaria%20&f=false

  16. Hey Jebus, Can't help out, but i'm pretty sure some will be popping up on the SAB store or over at herbalistics in the next month or so, now that its finally SPRING!!!!! All the best on your mission though
  17. Hi everyone, I've recently purchased an Erlenmeyer flask from SAB, with the hopes of using it as my vessel for agar creation. However due to the lameness of my PC, the flask wont fit (its to tall). As such I was hoping to simply fill the glass with my agar mix, and pop it on the stove (with a foil lid), until it starts boiling to sterilise everything. Just wondering if it would be safe to place directly on a gas burner? Tonight I've tried placing it in a pot with an inch of water; however bubbles kept forming under the flask, causing it to bounce around. Would placing it straight into a pot, without water be a safer option, than directly on the flame? I've done a quick google search and read mixed reviews. Also not sure if this was the right section to post this question, though it's related to my first ever batch of agar and entry to the wonderful world of mycology Cheers, Justler *Edit Typo

Agar Creation - Erlenmeyer Flask - Gas Stove

Sweet thanks for the reply NSK, i'd read mixed things online about using them directly, but I also assumed they were designed for that purpose. I'll give it a try anyway. My PC is electric, and that's probably the only decent thing about it. It's fine to set and forget. I PC at night, crash and turn it off in the morning. Electric PC's are massive though (well atleast mine is), unfortunately the usable space inside isn't close to what the machine appears to hold. So be prepared for a beastie space eating monster if/when you upgrade. Had my first glove box experience today, and researching flow hood construction. Tripsis you're a lucky man!

Agar Creation - Erlenmeyer Flask - Gas Stove

Haha your comment... "When I got into mush cultivation I went a bit crazy and bought way more equipment than I needed. This was done partly out of enthusiasm, and partly in the belief that somehow, pro looking gear would give me pro looking results. It seems like your flask may have been such a purchase." ... describes me to perfection, you a psychic? Just got back from the shops actually, picked up a four pack of ginger beer bottles, that will fit perfectly into my PC, and should be sweet to pour agar from. I'd be really interested to see the pre poured agar tek! I've been wondering why it's not a common method? It seems to me, one less step, means less chance of contamination. Haha saw you last tek about the monotubs; and was glad you posted it, as i'm still a n00b and hadn't heard of them before. It's definitely something I'll be looking into in the future. Still lots more researching to be done, but this is definitely turning out to be an interesting and wicked hobby.

Agar Creation - Erlenmeyer Flask - Gas Stove

Yeah I meant as a vessel for sterilising, and pouring into petri dishes. I've got a few of those Chinese containers to use for BRF cakes though, number 5, autoclavable ;)

Agar Creation - Erlenmeyer Flask - Gas Stove

Yeah, I've just done that with an old pasta bottle. My PC is tiny :S .. It just fits my petri dishes, so it would be easier if I can prep the agar on the stove in the flask, to save me from having to PC twice. PC only hits about 10psi as well, so it takes a bit longer than most TEK suggest.

    P.nexus issues?

Haha, I was about to say, that nexus looks kinda caapi like. My caapi appears to have the same concerns, though it's smaller. Old growth appears fine (as with yours) and newer growth appears to slump over and be dying off. Your real nexus looks quite healthy to me, though I too still consider myself a n00b. The browning at the end of the older leaf tips is something my little nexy and psychotria also suffer from. Would love to know what causes it.

    HAPPY HIGH HERBS Cherry Pop

Pretty sure you can't get it online; it's only available in happy high stores to my knowledge. Be careful with Cherry Pop, I've tried it twice before and had a bad reaction. I'm guessing it's related to Octopamine, which appears to be the active ingredient; as similar legal products containing it also have the same effects on me. For myself, it basically starts off as a lovey-dovey euphoric rush, which only last 30mins or so, followed by a massive crash, with intense/dangerous overheating, exhaustion, and vomiting. Really not worth it in my opinion. Stay safe, Justler
