I'm around the following weekend.... Going home for Easter....

I have only met a few of you Sydney folk so it's time I meet some more....but if any of you feel like it you're welcome to come up to mine on Easter Sunday - having a bit of a day party thingy happening an hour or so out of Sydney up the blue Mtns nr Springwood...There will be DJ,- ( he will probs play into the night as well) short walk to a waterfall,you can camp the night, bring your kids or dogs, it's on 25 acres of bush, you can help me plant a few cacti & design my ethno garden layout or just drink beer or whatever & socialise...Pm for details or questions.....& I can Facebook invite to you or send you details, within walking distance of the train if your so inclined to catch public transport......

I wont make this Wednesday but Im keen to catch up with some of you over the next 5 weeks....

But Wednesday next week is doable

Flora, I've got 3 trees & have tried to cross pollinate. Time will tell....The genetics are so similar, ie they are all identical....Is that the same with Bunyas?

I just watched this. In my youth back in the motherland in the very early 90's there were very few deaths if any. sure maybe one or 2 ( these were mainly misadventure???)... but there was a lot of that stuff going around.Like lots of it & at high doses!! Everything back then was sold as XTC & there wasn't the differentiation but it was all MDMA. So what has changed?? I would love to find or read stats on the purity change from the 90s to now if anyone knows of such a paper that exists? This report I found fair but there was no & is no mention of RC's that are flooding the market....( Why does Md get such a bad rap???) From my limited view its the RC's & pingers etc that are causing the problem, along with dogs, fear, uneducation, being in your early 20's & steroids & shaving your chest & hard freaking whatever the genre this shite music at large festivals is out these days....Phew must have passed that period as I like dogs, respect police & have a few hairs on my chest & aint a young 20 yr old.... - I am speaking for myself here - but the parties etc I have been involved in would probably have loved to offer this... Its just a couple of $ per ticket sold would cover this...especially true for people leaving site & driving home to have a swab test at the gate & a small sample test on the way in for what they have... Im all for education!! Besides the quality of drugs I blame it on the music....;)

Yep, They have had male cones for last 4 years, & these were pollen producing guns. The female cones are rounder & started last season. Im guessing they are viable as I placed the male pollen onto the female cones a couple of times, besides nature doing what she does best.... Ill post a pic when i head back out to them tomorrow - of the trees & the cones & the male & female flowers....

So Im happy for a few people to try this: Got a few more ripe seeds left & more ripening on the trees..... This is what i've learned so far...& I def aint no expert.....Just keen to learn. My trees I got 10 yrs ago during the first release. They are planted in the lower to mid Blue Mtns in a nice gully that is eventually going to part of a food forest. No frosts & sheltered conditions....Also makes a beautiful potted xmas tree.... As the seeds contain a short chain omega 3 fatty acid, the oil will degrade at temps above 18 degrees. The seeds contain 40% oil. I think this fatty acid chain is interesting in its own right but we need to grow a whole lot more.....So best to store below 18 degrees & seed is supposedly still viable after 5 years. Ive also pulled a couple of Birch like Fungus with fruiting bodies off them in the past but I cant identify them.... These may also be interesting. Not in that sense but in a medicinal sense.... Like a soil pH of 4 to 6 Also like a cold strat period of below 10 degrees, but above 4 degrees prior to planting. Optimum sprouting temp is 24 to 30 degrees - how long ---I dont know.... so spring, summer, autumn.... Seed takes up to 42 days to sprout supposedly. pretty low germ rate, say 10% per cone.... Approx 244 seeds per cone.... I picked 7 cones this time round so you might be lucky!! I think following the above there might be higher germ rates & would be good to experiment with Agathis or Araucaria species techniques,smoke water etc etc. i dont know - its just a majestic tree! Im kinda just looking for feedback if you want to grow them & if you have success then you can trade something... If not just let me know what you attempted & what kinda or didnt work.... If any one else has some info Id love to hear it.
