  1. That is a nice flow hood. If I were a noob who was planning to upgrade to a flow hood then I'd buy it. It's professionally made and it has a nice big area to work in.

I notice that you're also selling a flash looking Ethereum rig. It looks really well made compared to some other rigs I've seen. Why are you getting rid of it?

  2. It's been a while since I've logged in but the fruit is still connected to the plant. It looks about ready I think. The plant that has the fruit on it really needs to be repotted but I won't do that until I have picked the fruit. I'll just have to attempt to grow from seed and learn from any mistakes if I make them. I've successfully made cuttings in the past.

Sadly, my only b.caapi plant has died and I'm gutted :'(

  3. Dear Plant Lovers,

Does anyone know the best way to grow iboga from seed?

I was able to pollinate one of my two indoor iboga plants using a cotton bud (the flowers are tiny) and I have my first and only fruit pod growing. I know iboga is a fussy and sensitive plant so I don't want to mess this up. I have a heated propagation chamber I can use as well as a fluorescent grow light.

  4. If you have the cash then these flowhoods are great. I paid a bit to buy it and have it shipped here but it was totally worth it and it saved me a lot of fucking around. I bought it when the dollar was at parity (or close to) with the American dollar. You can make the HEPA filter last a lot longer by buying a furnace filter and using it as a pre filter where the air intake is.

To use Signal do you have to give them your mobile phone number? Or can you create and use a unique username to connect with people, rather than the phone number of the device? I'd feel much better being able to use a messenger service that didn't require my phone number and that I could always only use when connected to a VPN.

I know WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, and their terms of service state they will share data with their parent company, including your phone number. That's information I don't want to give a corporation like Facebook. Seems to defeat any reasons to use that particular one. If anyone paid them enough, FB would sell your data in a heartbeat.

Wickr doesn't reveal your phone number to other people and you can add people by username on Telegram instead of using a phone number.

  6. Signal is hands down the best for privacy and security.

As you mentioned, Telegram doesn't encrypt chats by default so you have to start a separate secure/secret chat if you want a chat that uses encryption and gives the option of having self deleting messages. Another annoying thing is that you can't use the same secure/secret on multiple devices at once as you can with the other apps so you can end up in a situation where you're creating numerous secret/secure chats to speak with the same person just because you decided to use another computer, phone or tablet.

Whatsapp encrypt the chats by default, however, it doesn't have the option to have self deleting messages. Moreover, it makes it easy for people to back chats up to cloud services and these can be read by anyone who has access to the account (such as hackers, a jealous or jaded lover or even a cop with a subpoena) as the backed up chats aren't encrypted. There was an article I saw this month which stated that Whatsapp chats on iPhones that are uploaded to Apple's iCloud are encrypted but so far it seems as if it's limited to iPhone users only who choose to backup to iCloud. No news on if/when encrypted backed up chats will be available if one uses other cloud services or phones. In addition to the aforementioned points, Whatsapp stores more metadata than Signal and it has started sharing Whatsapp data with Facebook.

There's also Wickr but its code hasn't been publicly audited and it's a buggy piece of shit. It also has fewer features than the other apps.

Signal encrypts all communication by default, it has self deleting messages, people can't backup the chats and a minimum of metadata is stored. You can also use the same chat on your phone and PC at the same time. If you value privacy and security then use Signal.

  7. Putting colonised jars in the fridge is fine. They last for months in the fridge but make sure that your fridge isn't so cold that it freezes the mycelium.

Storing colonised jars in the fridge can save you time too because you can set aside a day to prepare and inoculate lots of jars, refrigerate the colonised jars you don't need immediately and then take them out of the fridge when you need them. It sure beats having to set aside more days in the future to cleaning your work area, soaking, simmering and sterilising your grain and everything else you normally need to do.

  8. A worm farm for an ongoing supply of free worm castings and worm tea.

A compost tumbler/bin for an ongoing supply of free compost. Furthermore, having a compost bin and a worm farm gives you a handy way to re-use old spent potting mix.

Charlie Carp fish fertiliser because it works well on everything, including cacti and natives, and it's environmentally friendly. The manufacturer claims that the natural oils help deter pests and act as a wetting agent too.

Dish washing liquid to make a cheap and garden friendly pest spray. Works wonders on aphids.

  9. Pere is the easiest thing to grow and it grows like a bloody weed. Just stick a cutting in soil and you're good to go. You can even stick it in water and get it to root that way. I was surprised by its ability to grow hydroponically in a glass of water.

I'd recommend putting your cuttings in a bigger pot to start with so you can produce a lot more yourself and once you have a bunch of new growth you can use the tips to make cuttings for grafting.

  10. Yeah, the lack of leaves worries me but I'll see how it goes. The cooler and more humid weather in my area might help it bounce back. No pics at the moment but if I'm feeling up to it I'll take some.

    Thanks for your input, people.
