It is important for cacti to go dormant. Whoever thought of using lights in winter is mad.

Michael that first picture you put up is one of your best I think. You just captured the plant in a light that is even better than real life.

I agree its not the regular bridgesii. It looks exactly like the ones I am growing from seed. Also I count 6 ribs ;) like most of my seed grown ones.

I've been going to this particular nursery for quite a few years now and people who worked there were always cool but now they're gone, the older guy who owns it with someone else doesn't work there but you can find him at the local cactus & succulent meetings where he brings in nice plants at awesome prices for a raffle type thing now and then.
They have never shown me out back to all their mother plants even though i'm clearly interested. Yeah bit, I did have to ask about it. I get the feeling that if you work in a place like that you get desensitized to the beauty of such plants.

I went to that nursery today and picked up a rather slim cutting. I hinted at the guy I would like to see the mother plant but meh, they aren't very friendly :/

Eh? no your ID is definatly spot on. Just don't think i've seen one without spines.

Interesting that your beneckeii doesn't have any spines. The globular is very pretty but I'm unsure, I would have guessed it was a cactus.

Promise me you will grow that T. glaucus to flower and produce some crosses, then send some seed down south! such a fantastic plant.
As for M S Smith plants, well, I would call them T macrogonus... but thats obvious isn't it?

I've ordered in bulk from cactus heaven, pretty good prices, a few dud packs but I was overall very happy. Delivery does take a while I agree.

That one looks quite young and might turn out to look more like a bridgesii with age.
This one I've posted before, I think it looks quite like the backeberg clone. It is grown from seed, I have 2 others form the batch growing outside which both have even shorter spines and slightly different rib shape (also more green from being outside)
The grower told me it is T pachanoi x scopulicola and I'm pretty sure we don't have the backeberg growing down here. (zee werp?)

it is definatly a Notocactus flower. I don't collect many of this genus so i can't help with more than that, sorry.
