Chook poo has been working wonders on my cactus bed, in the last week I have noticed two pachanoi's pupping one pup has 8 ribs or so and a basasl pup is emerging from a TBM. I need to move my cactus in to a spot where they recieve full sun though I am starting to notice most of my cactus looking skinny compared to what I see here on SAB

I give my viridis and caapi the odd fert with fish emulsion, they are both in a medium of 50% coco coir and 50% sifted sandy soil from my yard my viridis doesn't seem to care whether it is regularly fertilised or not, but the caapi seems to love the stuff. In my experience the key to growing psychotria is to (I think planthelper said something like this) keep the roots moist but not soggy and they love a humid environment. I turn the hose nossle until it is spraying a fine mist and spray the entire inside of my greenhouse each morning. The zipper on my door also broke so I rigged it with some cable ties and wire, it doesn't close nice and tight but it allows fresh air to circulate as appossed to having the air go stale and this way I only need to fully open the door on the hottest of summer days.

I have the field guide to the native plants of sydney there is only a small section (11 pages) on Mimosacae plants and the index contains around 45 acacia species, although it does contain loads of other info on different plants it is not the most helpful book for identifying acacia species in the field.

I have heard of Xanthorrhoea (australian grass trees) can fetch a mean dollar when sold legally through nurseries. I have an X. arborea out the front which I collect seed from every year and have thought about eventually propagating these plants individually as part of an eventual retirement plan. Although to have a profitable business venture one must have time, patience. be willing to work hard and to part with plants that so much of your time, effort and hard work have gone in to.

I have pruned acacia plants with good results, through winter i removed all the lower branches that were dropping phyllodes from my acacias. Heck once (as part of a bonsai project) I completley topped an Acacia Maidenii and it shot new growth from the bear stem during winter, I have found Acacias are more sensitive to root disturbance rather then branch removal this why some Acacias can pump out new growth after being mauled by a whipper snipper Like micromegas said your plant has a great initial structure, as for pruning the lower branches I would say do either once that trunk gets bigger those lower branches will eventually naturally fall off.

It looks like coco coir in those pots, but if not I would also like to know what proccess was used. I filed the edges (just enough so i could see a bit of the white embryo) of 5 seeds and soaked them in warm to the touch water overnight and all 5 are now swollen and the weather is right for sowing.

I also recieved mine today thank you BF and PD so much greatly appreciated and by the looks of it they're great quality seed, I started sterilising pots and locating a source of decomposed granite in preperation also now have every thread with Phlebophylla as a tag bookmarked for refrence, I am really hoping to have a couple of them thrive. Once again I thank you PD and Bread Filter for your kidness and generosity I am sure Karma will come around and reward you two for this

It isn't november yet, And no one has had a graft flower yet. If i remember correctly the winner is to be the first person to have a graft flower from a plant sown and grafted after november 2011. I'm sure once spring comes around people will start showing off
