Looking for Brugmansia sanguinea and B. vulcanicola
Marcel replied to tripsis's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
How do sanguinea and vulcanicola handle Sydney weather? I've heard that they're prefer colder conditions than other, more common Brugmansia species. I'd love to add these to my collection. -
Yeah, I got a nice big tip cutting from this guy. My shipping was pretty quick too. I can recommend him/her, for what it's worth.

Those look more like subs than cubes. The hygrophanous cap is the dead give away.

Wow. This article is so full of incorrect information that my head hurts... That said, as a book dealer and amateur ethnomycologist, this feels like it was written for me. Nice find!

Sounds good. How big/old are the viridis? -
Incredible. I love a flower with that much pollen. Nice photos!

Yeah, I'm a newb so I go way overboard sometimes.

Nothing to it, Blood Trance. I gave the seeds a little rub on a nail file, dropped them in some near boiling water, and after about a day, I put them in some perlite, misted once a day until water ran out the bottom of the seedling pot, and when they were big enough not to be overly fragile, I transplanted them to some seedling mix, with a touch of coarse river sand mixed in. Now I water them lightly once a day, or so. All on a window sill, with indirect sun. Similar process to your Acacia, I believe. Though I would have guessed that Acacia are faster. Maybe dworx's seeds are a particularly good bunch? When these guys get out of the woods and beef up, I'll pass on the remaining seeds to interested parties.

My, how they've grown!

I pronounce it "subbies" just to be safe.

I chopped down an old hibiscus today and came across this perversity: They're stink bugs, no? Should I get to them before they get to my good plants? If so, what do you guys do to get rid of these psychedelic sons of bitches? So pretty, though...

Great news! As the overlord of my backyard, I grant them a pardon, and they may live to see another day!

I'd love to see someone on the side of the Hume Highway, holding a cardboard sign with the words "Rainbow" scrawled on it in blue crayon.

Wow, I think he was trying to sell this one a few weeks back for about $3000. Obviously, it didn't sell...

Awesome stuff Casuarius! Thanks for starting the new thread, but the thread hijack was probably more interesting than my original newbie's hysterics anyway! And for anyone still reading, the plants of the original post: i've been told that they are gone, gone, gone.

Looking very nice, indeed! 6 out of 6 seeds germinated and reaching for the light. Dworx, I think we can say that they're viable. I'll get a few more going and spread the love when they get bigger.

Funny you should ask. Aldi just released a dehydrator yesterday. Should be on sale for the week, or until they sell out. http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_16553.htm I remember hearing about them the last time they had these dehydrators and apparently they're not too bad, especially if you consider that they're only $40 . They're variable temperature, unlike the k-tel cheapo ones. The downside, I recall, is that they don't get hot enough to do good jerky, but for fungi and fruit, she's beaut.

Guys! Great advice and suggestions here. The owner of these plants had a little dig under the top layer of soil and the stems are green where they were protected from sun, leading him to conclude that its black malady is sun exposure related, not rot. Ubza, your optimism has given the plants' owner a stiffy. All of you, in fact, have given him a stiffy. Hurrah! Only time will tell whether these pull through. I'll let you all know...

Mine germinated last night! 24 hour soak and all 6 are shooting out green.

Just got the seeds today, dworx. Thanks heaps. Very generous of you!

I'm not sure I understand the rules of the game... But count me in!

Great photos, tripsis. Those blue-grey pans are gorgeous. Any idea what they are?
