Post your track of the day

Maybe Horus will appreciate this. I can't help thinking of him rattling off Clancy of the overflow (or that violin with a dubious history) whenever I listen to this.

Maybe he had a chat to David Lange and found out how things really work in NZ “An astonishing number of people have told him things that I, as Prime Minister in charge of the intelligence services, was never told…. It is an outrage that I and other ministers were told so little.” – David Lange, Prime Minister of New Zealand 1984-1989 Edit : I do realise Lange is dead

    American election, what's your call

The sad part is that people like that are the next generation of politicians here in OZ. Every university in the country is being used to groom people like that to be our future leaders. People should be gaoled over that. Dick Smith for PM - fuck the lot of these corrupt bastards pulling the strings.

    Punching Marsupials

That reminds me of one of my all time favourite words Glaukus. One time I went to the Australian reptile park and they kept their platypuses in a Platypusary It would be a travesty to be sure. If one could eat an animal from the coat of arms but one couldn't punch said animal without ramifications.

Abolish the fed, I can't see it ever happening. I'll bet the same fiat currency/debt system will prevail under the don or they will kill him. The secret is that it doesn't even need to be backed by gold. It's all been done before and was backed by the labour of the citizens and the assets of the state. They did it in Britain did it during WW1 with Bradbury notes and the USA did it during the civil war with Greenbacks. Both systems were stopped by rothschilds and there was no inflation spiral or any other deleterious effects because it was regulated. Both systems were stopped by elite bankers through intimidation or murder. The same bastards are still running the world through their illegal debt systems that can never be repaid. How to eliminate all debt and poverty Everyone in this country and the US should own their own house with an interest free loan backed by the state.

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

Are you sure that's a King Parrot in that first pic Change ? It looks a bit like a Black Cockatoo to me. Sometimes they have black feathers with red highlights others have yellow highlights. I've had King Parrots raiding the seeds on my acuminatas every day lately. The birds I'm seeing look like this.

Thanks for that link WB, it worked for me. In the preface the author writes about how restrictive modern life has become and how our options for exploration into alternative states have been removed in many areas. He goes on to write this. It seems like he'd fit in well around here.

    Home made mead

The laundry tub is a good way to keep brewing temps down in summer. Put the demijohn in & fill the tub with water to just below the level of the mead in the demijohn. Glaukus hinted at this, you might be able to fit the demijohn in the fridge when it's finished fermenting, that will help settle the trub before you rack the brew or pour it off etc. It's well worth buying or making a racking cane and racking it rather than pouring it off. Some people put their brew in a deep freeze for a few hours to get the sediment to completely settle onto the trub and clear it up before racking. Racking is just siphoning the brew off the trub (yeast that has settled) to get a clearer end product.

    Loph Seed Storage (long term?)

Seeds stored in a freezer generally need to be dehydrated first so the ice crystals don't rupture the cell walls of the embryo. If the cell walls get ruptured the embryo will turn to mush when it's thawed out. I store all my seeds in the fridge double bagged in ziplock bags so they don't dehydrate.

    Home made mead

I might have to give that a go one day. I've brewed everything else so why not. I don't know if this applies to Mead Bardo, but when brewing beer it's a fairly well accepted that the yeast should be pitched below about 28 deg C. preferably a bit lower around 26 Deg C. Some purists pitch the yeast at even lower temps to allow for the exothermic reaction that occurs when the yeast digests the sugars in the wort in an effort to keep the brewing temp in the ideal range. The theory is that yeast pitched at higher temps will create more undesirable esters and fusels that are not ideal to have in the final product. Some of those esters and fusels are said to contribute to headaches and hangovers the next day after drinking.

    Help with Ross River Fever

Seeing that I was the one who suggested Ashwagandha, I'd just like to qualify that with a warning. Any time you start taking anything new (this includes pharmaceuticals prescribed by doctors as well) if you notice any new symptoms arise your first suspicion must always be that new substance is the cause. This seems to be totally lost on many GP's and natural therapists and they can often get into a cycle of treating symptoms caused by their own treatments with more prescriptions or herbs etc. More than likely the Ashwagandha will be safe and effective for a large sample of people from most demographics as it's been studied extensively for years, but a few people experience adverse effects. So listen your bodies an be prepared to eliminate anything new that you feel may be causing other symptoms. If the symptoms subside after eliminating the herb/prescription and re-emerge shortly after beginning to take it again then you have a smoking gun.

    Help with Ross River Fever

I never really considered the immunological effects Zedo. It makes sense that antibodies would be produced and give protection after the original infection as you say. , I've never looked into it & I haven't been diagnosed either, I was just speculating as I get those symptoms each winter. I thought it could have been similar to an outbreak of cold sores where the virus goes into dormancy and becomes more active at times of stress etc. Chicken pox is an interesting one too, after the initial infection has manifested and the immune system produces enough antibodies to overwhelm it we are said to have immunity for life but then years down the track other effects can emerge in the form of shingles which affects nerves ect. So it seems with some viruses we never really get over them we just adapt to them. The mechanisms responsible for reactivation of viral infections is only partially understood as far as I know.

    Help with Ross River Fever

This thread might have attracted more attention if it was posted in the Pharmacology Chemistry and Medicine forum. Do they diagnose you by a blood test or just by the symptoms you present with these days Zedo ? I suspect that I get infected with RRV or BFV every year in autumn and the symptoms manifest through winter. I get the brain fog, lethargy and I also get rheumatoid arthritis that's almost crippling. Then in summer it seems to clear up and return again next year. Maybe there's some link to vitamin d levels there, but supplementing with vitamin doesn't seem to help me much. Maybe some type of adaptogen could perk you up and help your body recover from the lethargy. Ginseng is an old favorite and Ashwagandha is another good one. Ashwagandha is generally easier to source at a reasonable price for a good quality product but it is a member of the nightshade family, so if you have any issues with nightshade allergies or sensitivities you have to be careful there.

    Another Fukushima quake

Well that turned out to be a fart in a teacup. If you were with a boogie board you could have ridden the tsunami up the river systems.

    Another Fukushima quake

There's a bit of banter about a 7.3 quake (now downgraded to 6.9) off the coast of Japan and a 3 metre wave making its way towards the coast. They get quakes around 6.5 - 6.9 quite regularly in that region so it could all be hysteria or it could indeed generate a wave of considerable size We should see if it's going to fizzle out or if it will be big enough to breach the sea walls in the next few minutes.

    Home wart removal

Sorry about that Anodyne, I just get in a twisted mood sometimes and this place is the perfect outlet. Getting back on topic. They're a curious little entity warts, they are a blood borne condition but they seem to have preferred locations to reveal themselves. Even though our blood circulates through our entire being the outside appearance of the warts themselves is much more likely to occur on hands, feet, elbows or knees. I wonder why that is the case. Maybe cell walls damaged from pressure helps the virus get a foothold before it transforms into the wart structure ??? I've had a few warts. One was on my ankle and got chopped off by the crank on my dragster. Yes it came with a sissy bar which was fitted standard and also had those sharp fucking 3 piece cranks held on with cotter pins. That wart just got whisked away into into the aether and I never saw or heard from it again. The other one was on my index finger on my dominant hand. It drove me nuts because it was just off center from the main contact point on my fingertip & whenever I picked anything up & it would get squashed on an angle & really piss me off. I used wart kill on that one. At first the wart just went white, but after a few days it started go a gnarly brown colour. Then after about ten days the whole area started swell up and it looked like a flesh eating skin volcano that was about to erupt. It was getting pretty painful and I was seriously thinking I should see a quack and stop using the wart kill, but by chance I showed a guy who was working with me at the time (a true expert in the field, he was a Czechoslovakian Engineer/mechanic who could barely speak English) and he said "yes it is working your body will soon eject the wart" Sure enough the wart fell fell off the next day and left a huge crater almost right down to the bone. It healed very fast and never grew back. I've never had problems with warts since then - almost 30 years. I don't even know what was in the wart kill in those days, it came in a little glass bottle (the same type rush used to come in) and it had a plastic stick attached to the underside of the lid that was used as an applicator.

I can't really say my DIY job "went wrong" per se But I certainly could have done a much better job if I was sober enough to realise the stanley knife had a spare blade inside it that was actually sharp before I began.

Thanks for posting this Anodyne, I've done a bit of DIY medical stuff myself. This paves the way for me to post pics of my DIY circumcision I did last year.

Is this site dying out ?

I was just reading through some of the threads above and noticed Paradox's reconsidered post. In some ways that's indicative of the slowdown we're seeing. I often write out long answers to posts on the editor and then when it comes time to actually posting them I think do I really want that out there and then just close the thread without posting it. I normally only post after a skinfull of piss and I've put my foot in my mouth more than most, so I self censor in an effort to avoid that "what did I say last night" effect and the associated guilt when I wake up the next day. Plus the world has changed, free speech died long ago for most people. Anything you write on the internet can be used against you, so some people abstain from posting for that reason alone. It's a shame, this place has always been a bastion of free speech, it's a sad reflection on society when people aren't willing to put themselves out there like we did in the past.

Is this site dying out ?

If you are not clearing your cookies, history and flash objects (LSO's) before every facebook visit then you can rest assured someone has already made that presumptuous connection. Whether anyone gives a fuck is debatable. Most of those hidden details are for marketing purposes (that's how facebook makes it money). Your concern about the overt facebook profile does warrant some concern though if you are looking for employment etc.
