    The Stratocaster,a personal history.

Cheers IPTOS I picked up a Strat knockoff yesterday for $70. It was a baby shit green/blue Aria stg series. It seemed like a kid or non technical minded idiot had "fixed" it or fucked with it trying to fix it at some stage. It was missing a bridge saddle and a few strings. The nut was a really soft plastic piece of shit and the strings were bound in the slots, so it was hard to tune. If anyone has a spare bridge saddle or whammy bar for a Strat tremolo bridge I'd love to hear from you. I pulled it all apart and planned to give it a sunburst paint job but I'm not sure if that will work out because of the colour mismatch of the timbers used to make the body.I might be able to fudge it in and work the sunburst around it. It had about 4mm of filler under the baby shit duco and the body was basically deadened by all the extra layers of crap plastic filler. Now after I've stripped it I can get a nice ring out of it when I knock on it with my knuckles. By the time I put an aluminium nut in it and iron out all the little problems I should have something for the kids to bash around and get the hang of the Strat design. If they stick with it I'll get them a good one in a year or so. Here's a picture of it before I fully stripped it.

That's gratitude for ya. The trump campaign used info garnered from the leaks as part of their ammo against killary and rode into office on the back of it. It seems like trump has been put in his box and is doing what he's told like any good president should.

I'm in the same boat @FancyPants , I wish I'd learned to play when I was younger, it seems to take me ages to learn how to play new stuff & milliseconds to forget if I don't practice every day. No-one in my family (except my younger brother) ever played any musical instruments, so I just wasn't exposed to it as a kid. I was nearly 30 before I ever played a note. The idea with the 3 & 4 string setups is you can put them in an open tuning and be belting something half decent almost straight away. If I can get my kids on them they won't really learn much except how to get a groove going and maybe it will spark an interest in music. I got a cheap shit effects pedal with a looper and basic drum machine built in, so I'll have my kids laying down loops and rocking on soon. I'm looking forward to messing around with that myself. So I got my shit together for my 3 & 4 strings after waiting for parts from China for what seemed like forever. A bit more painting and finishing and they'll be ready to go. I made a few mistakes along the way but I learned a lot and got a few tools together to make the next project easier. I've found a lot of Fender knock off shit on ebay while I was looking for parts - necks, bodies & full kits etc. I also saw an aldi knock off Fender on youtube that seemed almost respectable (except the colour) . I'm thinking of building my own fender knock off after seeing how cheap all the gear is. Does any know how the "Chinacaster" Fender copies play ? I wouldn't expect them to be great but they would agree with my limited budget.

I love the way the media is beating this up. Trump is being depicted like a responsible parent & kim dik suk is being portrayed like a naughty little boy who needs a good spanking for stepping out of line. Both trump & kim dik suk are megalomaniac/psychopaths but the media chooses to ignore the atrocities committed in the Korean war by the yanks last time. They decimated that country, bombed hospitals, wiped out half their cities, destroyed dams that flooded villages and basically wholesale mass murdered a large percentage of the population. It was one of the largest scale war crimes of all time. I can understand the Korean hatred for the yanks given what the US has done to them in the past, To the Koreans the yanks would be no different than Hitler was to the jews. I can't help thinking that kim dik suk would have an ace up his sleeve if it does come down to a nuclear shitfight. Surely he knows he'll get his arse kicked and has made plans to inflict damage in additional ways to his tin pot nuclear stockpile if they don't get off the ground. We saw recently that he will deploy operatives on foreign soil, so he probably has sleeper cells ready to fuck up America from the inside if trump starts carpet bombing in Korea.

Syria - RIP North Korea - look out It could be a dangerous game trump is playing, Russians in Syria & North Korea geared up with nukes. Game on. Now I know what he meant when he said he'll make America great again. Yee-ha

I ended up settling on a 23" scale length for the first one. I'm making a 4 string next, so I'll set it at 25.5" to get them ready for a fender if they stay interested. I'm enjoying working with wood, Half the fun is making the guitar for me. Is that 24" Fender a Jaguar IPTOS and how does the tone compare to a Strat?

Cheers Horus, that thing must be a natural resonator being made out of a tin. I bought them full size acoustic guitars a few years ago but they haven't used them much at all until lately. They have been more interested in video games until recently. They were cheap shit aldi pieces of crap that loose their tune before you finish tuning the fucking things. They never spent enough time to learn any chords either and the little time they did try to it just sounded fucked because the guitars had already lost their tune. It only seems to be the nylon string acoustic guitars that were a problem, I got a steel string myself, it was the last one and it was reduced to $30 so I thought why not. It sounds surprisingly good and holds its tune well. At least with a 3 string I can give it various open tunings and they can get something out of it that won't be as annoying as an out of tune piece of crap that they don't know any chords for.

I'm still holding my breath waiting for that song/tune, maybe it's turned into an epic production like one of Axl Rose's comeback albums ? While I'm here, seeing you are the guitar man, I'll ask a few questions and see what comes back. I'm building a few cigar box guitars for my kids, the first one will be a 3 string and the next one might be a 4 string. Wot do ya reckon about scale length for a kid (One 8 the other 10) ? Should I break them in with a full scale Strat or Gibson architecture right of the bat or should I cut it down to suit their hands/fingers and arm span for them now ? These things will open tuned and playable with a single finger or a slide (preferably both) but I want to make sure that I don't need to compensate too much with the amp to get a nice sound out of them. It's going to be a cheap build process and the amp & pickup will most likely something cheap and nasty from ebay with an aim to upgrade when the cash finds itself coming my way. For now I just want to get them strumming. Any suggestions from Horus or any other muso's or musically inclined people would be greatly appreciated.

  10. Ethereal Drifting I was drifting through the ether in a dream I had last night When fractal pixelations began to overwhelm my sight Then the light grew stronger My head began to spin and that was then a wormhole opened up and sucked me in I shifted gear to hyperspace Was I dead, was I alive This journey to another place I'm sure I will survive Then I felt the universe had gifted me the keys to unlock all it's secrets I could do it as I please I opened doors, I read the signs I wallowed in the light this gift that I'd been given by the beings of the light But then a thump awoke me I was back home in my bed t'was just a dream that I had seen It was all inside my head I know it all sounds cliché While awake it seems not right my twisted dream perspective this beautiful delight but words don't do it justice could it be where dejavu comes from an alternate dimension I really just don't know But something that I know for sure with no shadow of a doubt If I can get just one more chance I know that I will go I'll be drifting through the ether with these beings that I know.

Wait a minute, I didn't agree to this...

Is that "the bucket of shit is half full" optimism ? I see it as half empty. Who do you expect to complain to the IMF, the CFR, the trilateral commission or david rothschild himself ? I'm sure they'll all give you a fair hearing. Wouldn't it be nice if the world were chocolate, la,la,la,la,la,laaaaa

    rheumatoid help

I've been looking into this again lately Dood, both of my knees have fucked up & it looks like I'm going to need to have both of them replaced & my hip as well. I was looking into arthritis treatments and read about the work of an Aussie soil scientist - Rex Newnham . He developed arthritis himself after he started eating food grown on boron deficient soils and he cured himself with supplemental boron after the drugs his GP gave him didn't work. He found a correlation to boron levels in soil and regional instances of arthritis. He developed a treatment that consisted of supplementing boron and he had a lot of success. He did a clinical trial at Royal Melbourne Hospital and found it worked much better than could be expected from placebo and not long after the government shut him down. His treatment worked for many cases of RA as well. It's well worth a read. Boron: Major Cause and Cure for Arthritis And possibly more interesting is something else I found. In 1975 ) Roger Wybum-Mason made a presentation to the International Chemotherapy Congress in London where he identified a protozoon as the cause of Rheumatoid disease. He named the protozoon - Amoeba chromatosa and he had also cured many people of the disease. For some reason his presentation was cloaked in secrecy and only came to light after his death when his wife released some of his work. Some have tried to discredit his work because it wasn't done as double blind studies but from what I can make out they didn't exist back then and no-one has proven his hypothesis incorrect. It was actually one of his students that designed the first double blind study (apparently) Wyburn-MasonHypothesis Supplement to the The-Roger-Wyburn-Mason Hypothesis Some sites are suggesting that boron also is an effective treatment for the amobea discovered by Wyburn-Mason and the symptoms during treatment seem very similar to the symptoms many of Newnhans' patient with RA experienced while undergoing boron supplementation. This is a tenuous link but I think it deserves some consideration.

Wasn't it good to see jonny howard getting a serve yesterday ! He trained soldiers to break up a union dispute, committed soldiers to an illegal unjust war & sold out workers rights forever but turnbull labelled the union members grubs for remembering and making comments about it. Fuck you howard and you too turnbul

Clearly this won't do A post about Stratocasters from Horus without any of his tunes is just a tease. It's like chang without a nang, a sausage sanga without sauce or glass of whiskey without ice. How about a tune for those unfortunate bastards unlucky enough to have never seen you play live Horus ?

Tussilage farfara coltsfoot - legal status

One study took juvenile rats and injected pure pyrrolizidine alkaloids into the peritoneal cavity and found it caused cancer. I've seen estimates that a 70kg man would have ingest almost 20 000 Comfrey leaves to get a similar dosage. The dosage makes the poison, sometimes a small amount poison can even be beneficial. I've eaten Comfrey for almost 30 years (after being diagnosed with cancer) and I'm still here. If it wasn't for that shit I wouldn't be able to walk. I've also used Coltsfoot to clear up bronchial issues that the GP couldn't deal with. Scientists base their studies on isolated alkaloids and then journalists take the findings and use their ignorance to twist and distort the findings and extrapolate them to envelope anything similar (there were many newspaper beat ups about herbs causing cancer last century and most were based on misunderstandings and ignorance) If you read through the link below there's lot's of info about people who have real world experience with long term ingestion of the actual herb and problems are basically non existent.
