Hi everyone, I have had these lithops for a while now and were looking very healthy. They flowered a few months ago and were coming along nicely. Today I noticed that 2 of the 3 are showing signs of overwatering/underwatering? They dont get watered very often but may have had overspray from the watering can. These guys are some of my favourites and need your help to save them. Thanks

Are the Current Penalties for " Rock Spiders " Adequate ?
OPP replied to Heretic's topic in Chill Space
A very good friend of mine was the victim of sexual abuse many years ago and the impact on her life still remains. Noone deserves to have that happen to them. The shame of it is that most of this type of abuse happens in the home by someone well known to the family. Jail is too good for some people. -
What is the HARDEST dance music is in existance today?
OPP replied to The Resistance's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
Some songs that I'm liking at the moment. Didn't read all four pages so not sure how close they fit your request. This type of music gives me all sorts of amped up feelings. Needs to be listened to at very loud volume on big system. But this has to be one of the nastiest recently released song. Pure bass. Ridiculous. -
Saw this posted somewhere a while back and was definately interested but lost the info. Would like to attend if I can get the weekend free.

I'm a Sydney person. Did a little bit of climbing years ago and am thinking of getting back into it but don't have anyone to go with/know anywhere to go. The only place I know of is a beginners cliff in Lindfield. Would be keen to get back into it if someone can suffer a beginner!!! tripsis-that sounds pretty good. Pity I didn't read this earlier.....

I have two macro tips, both rooted well, but when any water touches the areoles they turn black. All my other cactii, all planted in the same soil mix, do not do this. Is this something that only happens to macros or am I doing something wrong? I have stopped watering them thinking that it was due to overwatering but even a tiny amnount of water turns the areoles instantly black. Anyone elso come across this problem?

Any renderers or plumbers in Sydney?? Will need some help on an upcoming job. Possibly other trades and labourers too........

I thought that with all the talented people on here who have various skills/capabilities/expertise that we could have some kind of community go to point to connect with others who have various things done. For example I am a carpenter so if anyone needs any carpentry/building works they could get in contact and I could help them out. Feel free to add your trade/skills. Could be a trade of time for plants/other skills.

A month ago I bought 3 cactus from amember on here ranging from 2m tall to 1m tall. They came out of the ground and were transported to their new home where they sat under cover for 3 weeks until they were transplanted. I potted them in big pots with a mixture of 50% washed river sand to remove the sand so only big pieces were left for good drainage and 50% commercial cactus mix. The mix was damp when it went into the pots and I gave them a small amount of water after repotting My sister (where the cactii are) called me to say that they feel soft to the touch. A search on the internet says that soft cactii can be from over watering or underwatering. Another cactus I potted recently in similar circumstances (same mix and water) is doing very well and had 6 pups. Should I pull the 3 new ones out of the pots and let the roots dry out and then try again in a few weeks or should I water them more? Or is it simply shock? I would be very upset if these lovely specimens didn't survive. Will be going over tomorrow to check them out for myself and get pics.

Transplanted cactii now going soft (updated with pics)

I didn't introduce them to sunlight slowly. Totally forgot about that. Fingers crossed that's all it is. -

Forgot to say we dug the cactus out of the ground when I arrived and then they sat for three weeks undercover. Just got back from my sisters place. There is dark discolouration on the stems from about 1/3 of the plant upwards. The wierd thing is that the bottom 1/3 of the cactus is putting out new spines and is hard to the touch. I pulled one out of the soil and the roots seemed hard and some of them even looked like they were fresh and healthy (a greeny/yellow colour). -

Zelly - They were bare rooted. Not many roots came with each plant. I was suprised at how few roots there were. There were a few finger thick roots about 10cm long and then only a few thin roots for each cactus. -

I'll check it out tomorrow. How do I tell the difference between rot soft and underwater soft?? -

Its only been a week since tranbsplanting. I didn't think root rot developed that quickly???? -
Here are two jokes that I made up. What does a prawn and a Chinese man squashed by a piano have in common? They're both crushed asians/crustaceans (say it out loud). Whats the difference between a white man committing murder and a black man committing murder? About 10 years.

Seems like too much effort for most people to bother checking with all those departments. Or maybe that is the plan........
