Edited to add: If members aren't interested in trading with you it might be a good idea to post some pics of your cactus collection, or add to some info to some threads here, let people get to know you a bit as trading is a trust game.. People are always more willing to trade with a familar face avatar/username lol.

    1000th post freebies

Edited to show whats left. Paypaling me for postage would be the easiest option as I think bank transfers have minimum transactions etc, if this isn't possible I will cover postage myself. Everyone above will get what they requested, just making a list of where to send what.

    a potentially dangerous night

Wow, never expected this from who I am 99% sure you are speaking about. Reminds me of something I read on the nook about someone who was experienced with psychedelics snapping and having a psychotic break ending up in trouble with the police and lashing out at them. Sounds like this didn't end up as badly, I hope him and her are both alright now. Glad to hear you and others involved are too. Sounds like you guys did the best possible in this, I'm sure you all would have known if it was neccesarry to involve psych services. I haven't hung out with those two much but it was sounding like they were both pushing each other to explore further and learn more, same with what he's studying at Uni I imagine. And he's a pretty deep cat to begin with. Controlling his fire and knowing when to use his martial arts is even more impressive than knowing the techniques. Psychedelics make emotions and awareness of these emotions/vibes x1000000 right, and alcohol lowers inhibitions and can make a very crude side come out in most people.. At least I know it's that way for me. Talking and time helps with most things, also not treating someone like they are dangerous/crazy would help I imagine. I really don't know him well enough to comment any further. Hope you can all take this on in a postive way. So glad that this didn't end up a horror story. edit: oh yeah, the mind reading can be a freaky thing, careful what you let slip out or in. Anyway, enough from me, I'm starting to get confused (i know you probably know what I wrote above, bogfrog, just for others reading. If you think anythings to personal in there let me know and I will edit)

    Cactus ID

Same thing depending on who you ask man, Tricho taxonomy is an odd beast. I would call it a peruvianoid and leave it at that. Maybe Michael or EG or one of the other Trichophiles will add there 2 cents. If you are looking to obtain a cutting of this plant may I suggest what has worked very well in the past for me: Enquire about the plants heritage if possible and politely ask about obtaining a cutting. 9 times out of 10, if you express a genuine interest in the plant and are friendly and not dressed like a wook you will get a cutting or maybe even a few!

I think you have what is a clearly labelled "Cactus" in the first pic. but really, looks quite close to a plant I got labelled as T. huascha. But my plant is not a clumper.

    Crowdsourced Corroborree Cacti Book

As stated above we could get photos/pages printed. Then maybe some homemade binding, could give it a nice individual feel to each book as well. Just an idea, I guess it depends on how professional people want it to look yada yada
  13. Disgusting, makes me want to leave this beautiful country. This seems to have got little media coverage.. When they tried to pass it last year it was met with protests etc.. The bill was opposed by all the Opposition parties and even the Government's support party but still passed. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/6625136/Search-and-Surveillance-Bill-passes If mods or T don't think this should be in News & Notices feel free to move it or edit
  14. Typical San Pedro found in gardens throughout NZ When this was an unrooted cutting it threw out what I assumed was a flower bud as it resembled others I had seen (hairy, overlapping "scales") It eventually turned into this: What's going on here? Have heaps of cuttings of the same plant and this is the only one to have a hairy pup.. Edit: hmm, this thread mentions something similar http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26326 (posts #9)

  17. Hey blunt My big graft suffered badly from spidermite, neem in the evenings seemed to fix the problem.. That or it grew out of it. A lot of the grafts I took from it stalled due to mites. Smaller grafts of mine got spidermite as well, when put outside (LW caespitose on Trich) they ballooned in size and grew out of the spider mite quickly, putting on noticable new growth within a few rains. These were badly scarred all over and now look much nicer. I really, really dislike spidermites.

    Hairy San Pedro pup??

Hey EG thanks for the reply I didn't post pics of the other cuttings as they really are your run of the mill pachanoi, I usually use it all for grafting stock. I will get some pics up tomorrow of the other cuttings showing typical growth. Flowers on other cuttings of the same plant are the same as on other pachanoi I have seen.

NZ find, psilocybe weraroa or weraroa sp.?

Bluntmuffin do you know how they disperse their spores? I was told that they were primitive compared to subs etc becasue they spread there spores by snails eating the rotting pouch. I don't see how the wind could spread their spores Good luck with your hunt! I am quite jealous Edit: UTFSE centipede you noob! This is to do with P. virescens but I'm sure it applies to P. novae-zelandiae too. http://www.kaimaibush.co.nz/Fungi/Weraroa%20virescens.html
