    dooo it! *shakes fist* tongue.gif

I've a few massive beech and stranglers around where I am, I'll have to grab some pics too. They truly are amazing, gotta love em.

  2. Yeah I agree with tripsis on that one; $30 for a field mushroom print is, well... just a rip off!! I do however, believe that it's up to the buyer to be doing his/her research before purchasing ANYTHING from ebay, but still... thats no excuse for a $30 print... and field-ies at that. I really feel for the "history: 1 sold" customer though, the surprise they'll get when opening their mail! BANGHEAD2.gif

  3. NZ man faces jail over kava haul

    Last updated 13:44 06/08/2011

A young New Zealand man arrested for importing nearly 20kg of kava into Australia's Northern Territory may go to jail. The 23-year-old man was caught about 8pm (local time) on Thursday by a drug sniffer dog at Gove Airport in Arnhem Land, north east of Darwin, police said.

His luggage contained 19kg of kava separated into 18 different bags. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $19,000.

Kava, made from the roots of a pepper plant, is a controlled substance in Northern Australia.

It was first introduced into eastern Arnhem Land from Fiji in 1981 in a bid to stop people drinking alcohol.

Though most communities introduced a self-imposed ban on the drug it was still consumed widely in Arnhem Land. It acts as a sedative, induces muscle relaxation and can have a psychoactive effect.

The penalty for possessing or supplying a commercial quantity of kava is eight years in jail.

Police said the man appeared in the Nhulunbuy court on Friday and charged with possessing and supplying a trafficable amount of kava.

He was remanded in custody and will reappear in the Darwin court on Monday. His name has not been released.

UPDATE: Police are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who suffered a fatal heart attack after smoking synthetic cannabis Kronic Black last night.

At about 6.30pm the Hillman man was rushed to Rockingham Hospital suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.

He was unable to be revived and died at hospital.

Police believe he may have been smoking Kronic Black and are conducting an investigation.

WA recently became the first State to ban Kronic and similar synthetic-cannabis products.

However Kronic Black's New Zealand manufacturer claims the substance contains a reworked chemical compound that does not fall foul of new laws.

Mental Health Minister Helen Morton confirmed on ABC's 720 show this morning that two substances found in Kronic Black would be banned from midnight tonight, as well as another 12 others found in synthetic cannabis products.

Hospitals in Perth and in New Zealand have been reporting patients presenting with heart palpitations, high blood pressure and sickness after smoking synthetic cannabis, while the Australian Medical Association has warned synthetic drugs could cause severe paranoia, anxiety and panic attacks.

The substance is also believed to be linked to the death of a teenager in Christchurch.

Police confiscated packets of Kronic Black from a local retailer last week.

The retail value of the seized stock is about $8000.

Kronic Black Label wholesales at 40 per cent more than the original version of the banned substance but is being sold in Perth for only slightly more than its earlier version at $79.95 for a 3g pack.

It was developed on July 15 specifically to comply with Federal and State regulations banning the sale of eight synthetic cannabinoids.

A letter of compliance from the product's developer Light Years Ahead Ltd, provided to retailers, was also seized by police.

The letter claims that Kronic Black Label does not contain any of the banned substances and is therefore legal.

Those found in possession of banned drugs face a maximum 25-year jail term or a $100,000 fine under the legislation.

  6. Anyone else stumbled upon this before?? looks pretty interesting...

The Principality of Hutt River (PHR) is an Independent Sovereign State having seceded from Australia on the Twenty First Day of April 1970 and is comparable in size to Hong Kong, though the Principality is larger than many countries such as Andorra, Lichtenstein, Monaco, and Nauru to name a few.

The Principality of Hutt River is situated within Western Australia and is about 75 square km in size, consisting of approx 18,500 acres of mainly flat or undulating farmland, well covered in places with a wealth of shrubs and beautiful wildflowers. The economy is based upon agriculture, which includes the export of wildflowers as well as tourism.

    PHR%20Seal%20145x135.gif

The Principality is a constitutional, hereditary and democratic monarchy, with HRH Prince Leonard as the Sovereign and Head Of State and a Government is exercised, under the Sovereignty of the Prince, by a Minister of State, HRH Crown Prince Prince Ian, assisted by a Government consisting of as many Ministers, Vice Ministers and State Secretaries as necessary to lead the Country.

Whilst the existence of PHR as a Sovereign State was initially contested, for many years now it has been accepted and left in peace. With the same Head of State for 40+ years, the Principality is proud to have such leadership and therefore the Principality must be regarded as a very stable country.

Prince Leonard is a keen supporter of both the Arts and Conservation and has named parts of the Principality with such names as Lake Beginning, Mount Secession, Lake Serenity and Wild Boar Gorge. The main townsite, Nain, has been developed with buildings to provide basic facilities for tourists who visit the Province in their thousands each year, and with modest Government and Reception buildings as well as basic support for campers, inc a small ablutions block, campers kitchen and a small caravan parking area with Power also available.

Facilities include an Administration Building containing the Government Office and Post Office, a swimming pool and Tea Rooms/Function Centre and a charming Inter-Denominational Chapel as well as a small arcade housing the Memorabilia Dept. and Historical Society displays. A new Reception Office is also in operation and recent extensions to the Tea Rooms/Function Centre have now enabled that to cater for double it's previous capacity and includes a beautiful and very comfortable outdoor undercover area.

A new camping and caravan park area was established in time for the 2010 40th anniversary celebration weekend and it has created the ability to cope with larger scale visits during special occasions without cramping and a lovely, relaxed area is now available for all to enjoy the peace and tranquillity offered by a stay in the Principality.

While the local resident population is small, a large number of Overseas Citizenships have been issued to people around the globe.

The Principality also enjoys a good, active and widespread diplomatic representation throughout most of the developed world.

  7. Don't cha hate it when you get urinated on whilst passed in at a party, then your top front teeth punched out for standing up for your self.. $1500 - $4000 per tooth.. (fractured roots).. fml!

on a lighter note, dont cha hate it when your sittin on the toilet and you get an all mighty splash back?

haha this cheered me up a bit!

  8. for an ID try to post some more info if you can aye dude... i.e. flowering times, phyllode measurements etc.

measurements and flowering times have been given already.. I don't understand what your trying to say here sorry? I believe all these acacia pictured are the same species having if not the same, similar attributes as one another... although no 1, and 4 are juvenile. No. 3 is in flower now (march), but as stated in my original post; very few flowers are present.

longifolia usually flower around june/ july which rules out no. 3, as it's in flower now.. a little too early for QLD (could be wrong). also steering away from maidenii, as trunk/ bark does not resemble maidenii.. leaves are too pliable/ easy to fold etc.

looking like Acacia longifolia subsp. longifolia perhaps.. closest flowering time, description, etc.

anyways cheers for the pdf, if you haven't already, check out plantnet for ID-ing.. a little more descriptive and easy to use.

  9. I've stumbled upon many species of acacia in my travels and usually have an easy time identifying what i've found. Although these, I just can't put my finger on.

They're an attractive species, usually alone and spread out quite a distance. found close to water sources and never larger then a few metres tall. The bark is smooth and grey, sometimes rougher at the base. The stems are angular and usually hairy with larger branches having lenticels present.

phyllodes are mostly straight or slightly curved and attenuated, ranging from 15 - 25cm in length and 1 - 2cm in width. newer growth seems to have white hairs present with mature phyllodes being mostly glabrous. 1 – 4 longitudinal veins more prominent, with secondary minor veins anastomosing. Glands are usually present (2 - 3mm from base).

I've yet to see these acacia flower until today (see acacia 3) or seed, which is making this species more difficult to ID. There were only 2 - 3 Inflorescences present all together on this specific tree (acacia 3). heads cylindrical, 5 - 8 cm long, pale yellow - yellow in colour. couldn't see any new flowers on their way, not to mention on any other trees which makes me think they may be random?

My guess was floribunda, but this doesn't explain the glands being present, or the inflorescences (this time of year). Second guess would be maidenii, but the barks not fissured nor dark enough.

These trees were found in the SE QLD coastal region, though I have found similar trees up and along the ranges.. again usually close to creeks/ waterfalls etc.

any help will be most appreciated, thanks in advance.

    peace,

    fyde.

  10. I didn't mind the movie, although I was already quite educated about lucid dreaming so couldn't help but laugh in some parts..tongue.gif all in all, I think it was a decent attempt at hollywood-ising a brilliant idea.. that had allot of potential. Maybe if cronenburg directed I would have enjoyed it a bit more haha.. Was a great movie for those not yet awakened or experienced in lucid dreaming/ altered states, as it would definitely give the watcher some interesting ideas on reality. glad it came out.. at least now theres a reference when trying to explain lucid dreaming to the ordinary folk haha.
