thanks Ghosty I try my best
that one in the black pot is a grafted Ficus Microcarpa retusus
which is just ficus microcarpa with microcarpa retusus grafted to the top the retusus has nice smaller leaves on it but is slower growingits a pretty commonly found plant in bunnings though nowhere near as big
its a nice plant that one I was stoked to find that plant when I started to uncover the roots I was even more happy
I've been slowly revealing its roots over the last 3 years or so- 1

love the Chinese elm I have a couple of seedlings that came up in maple pots from a local nursery
they have a huge one right next where they keep all their maples so there's usually always a few seedlings in any maples I get from them
its a nice little extra bonus if you can keep em alive and be patient enough
they're awesome plants perfect for bonsai with their tiny leaves- 1

thanks mate yeh I was very happy with how the root over rock ficus came out it was only buried for about 2 yrs
I exposed it all about a year ago now and its coming along nicely its very firmly attached to the rock
Yeh the one threaded through the deadwood is another old one I've just got to I did that one probably about 3-4 yrs ago when it was very ling and thin
I havent touched it since its basically become one with the deadwood now I finally decided to prune the shit out of it and start giving it some more shape
I try to do something a little different each time I've never actually bought a bonsai before I usually just buy cheap nursery stock and see what I can do
lately I have bought a few stock plants from a bonsai nursery they're pretty damn expensive though but they do have some very nice trees- 1

Few of the new freaks from seed
this is the only one of from Nitrogens seed thats shown any real freakiness for me so far its a TPM x N1
This is a Frailea asteroides which is showing multiple heads and possibly starting to show cresting to
Not to sure about this asterias x super kabuto its showing some odd colouring possibly variegation and is also widening so hopefully it crests to
And this is the one thats got me the most excited its a Psycho x spachianus showing variegation and monstrose growth- 20

Does anyone in W.A. pick seasonal patches or just burn areas

there seems to be morels everywhere in Perth growing out of the chip filled landscaped gardens
I haven't spotted any myself but I know a few people have been finding loads of them -
i get much better success rates using a pair of tweezers, plucking pollen laden anthers and depositing them directly onto the pistils
also much easier to clean the tweezers between pollinations etc
Tweezers are the go thats exactly what I do paint brushes are annoying
-
You don't find them,
They find you -
I'm going with alutacae all the way
they look exactly the same as my finds in W.A.
-
yeh thats obviously why he was all over my find then because his guess was alutacae and he's found those himself
so thats probly why he really wanted to check them out
TimmiT is great he's always a good help very very interested to see what results he comes up with -
I may be able to spare a few I'll check out the collection

thats odd inski didnt want to look at them he was all over my find wanting to get them under the scope
although that may have something to do with wanting some sort of comparison to his own alutacae finds

are you on the shroomery theres lots of people over there who I'm sure would be very very interested in putting a couple of specimens under the microscope for a better chance at a more positive id
thats a very interesting find you have there I'd love to know what they are -
these really remind me alot of these suspected Psilocybe alutacea
theres lots of photos throughout this shroomery thread
