Alot to ID - Might test your memory!!

You watch, you'll be at the park walking the dog and when you are not looking for them, you will find them. I study the pics of subs that people are downloading and look at the substrate, the background, all the information that is in the picture can be helpful. I too have been looking around and have had no luck. I have been to the old places ( 25 year old territory) and have found nothing. I don't know if they just don't occur there anymore or what. I think i found a couple of dried out ones the other day at a new spot so will go back when we get some decent rain. We use to find them along the road side around farms where they use pine (not Cyprus) as wind breaks. So you are not the only one cruising around with your camera waiting for that perfect specimen to photograph.

    Damn Pronunciation!!!

I look at it as... suba (like super), ru( like 'u' in rug) jeanie ( like 'i dream of jeanie') o ( pronounced as 'o' like in the alphabet) s, ( like ,s in the alphabet but with a slight 'z' sound to it) u ( pronounced as in um). Well that's the way i pronounce it. A lot of Latin names are tongue twisters. I learnt a lot of frog Latin names and everyone you spoke to,pronounced them different. You say castle, i say castle, tomato, tomato .Comprehendey??!

    Otways mushshroom camping/hunting

I have been looking at images of the Otway Ranges. It looks like a slice of paradise. You guys are gunna have a ball. Unfortunately for me ,i will be hosting a 9 year olds birthday party so am unable to bloody go. I will be there in spirit. I just wanted to mention a few of my favorite things to take camping... My gum boots( essential), Thermal underwear, A hot water bottle ( Very comforting)( However , regular checks need to be made to the condition of the rubber as it deteriorates over time. Wouldn't want third degree burns when your on a 'trip' away) and a new thing that i have invested in are outdoor garden solar lights. These can be a marker for tent guide ropes or even just a marker to find your tent. You can get color changing ones also. I think that they would be a real treat. I hope you get good weather. I am hoping that there is another excursion in the months to come so some of us who were unable to make it this time, can have another chance. Sweeet.

    new to the forum

Hi everyone. I stumbled upon this forum by accident (or maybe destiny). I cant believe how passionate you all are about this stuff. the last time I had 'mushies' was around 25 years ago. I have been reading about plant spirit medicine and my ears pricked up when reading about ayahuasca. Mmmm , I thought, its about time AFOAF had some mushies. Now AFOAF is older and wiser, they will have some mushrooms not for recreational use but to connect with nature etc... So now I have been unleashed and reading everything on hallucigens. Brings back memories . So I will be going to my old haunt to source some mushies ( what you guys call subs). I am excited yet a little nervous. We use to just boil them up and have the syrup in Milo. All this talk of lemon juice and so on is new to me but AFOAF is willing to give it a go. I think I will start off treading lightly.

Yeh,ah, my friend's friend , doesn't have many windows of opportunity, you know ,with the house to ones self for several hours or similar. So it makes it a little tricky ,but it will happen when it is meant to. My Friend's friend cant wait. I am surprised, given the time of year, that we are not hearing about other peoples Friend's experiences!!??

    Pet Snakes!!

I too, prefer the MDF type enclosures for snakes. Front opening (sliding glass) doors are the best. Especially with the attitude of the Jungle carpets, which are usually aggressive until you get them out. ( and then sometimes still aggressive). With the front opening enclosure you can get them out straight away before they know you are coming....any hesitation and they will nail ya!

    Pet Snakes!!

Snakes are awesome to look at especially in a natural setting. However ,when you start keeping things like Black-Headed Pythons ,i recommend that you use newspaper for the floor of your enclosure.Black-headeds can grow big, BIG snake= BIG shit. If you have paper as a base it is much easier and hygienic to get rid of the feces. As for Green pythons (the holey grail) As you probably know ,you are looking at around $5-$10 grand a piece. They are my favorite, though i never had the pleasure of keeping them. (yet). Rats get expensive too when keeping large snake specimens. If i were you, i probably would invest in more of what you have ,especially if the jungle is a good color form and breed from those.

    Essential camping food.

I was refering to the meat in those cans of 'braised steak and onion' type tinned foods( if you can call it meat) . No need to esky them. Bit heavy if you are hiking in to your camp spot.

    Essential camping food.

I have one of these portable camp stoves which i take with me on day trips so i can have a warm toasted sanga instead of the traditional picnic food. Various rice flavors come in vacuum sealed pouches that you pop into boiling water for a couple of minutes, they are always good camping food. If you eat meat ,you could get, like, some of that Chunky soup or braised steak and onion type of stuff and have that on rice??!!. But i do highly recommend getting one of those portable camp stoves. They are sometimes on special for around $12 at KMART and 4 gas bottles for $6. Bargain.

    2010 Sub season

I too have been out looking around in all the old spots but with no success . Some of the places have had other visitors which you can always tell not only by the trampled grass but by the upturned lookalikes. Now i don't know if i had just missed out or is it still too early /warm in these spots. It'll happen. soon.

    Spores to Share or Sell!!!

Hey, i don't have a PM service. I went into my profile settings and made sure the 'personal messenger options" box was un ticked which would indicate that i can receive personal messages. I also have trouble uploading an image to my profile. It says contact admin'. Been there, done that and no reply. Any suggestions. The image which i am trying to upload is under 100k and within the mega pixels range. I need a PM thingy, i dint want to miss out on anything. LATER... Well it seems that i do have a PM 'cause i've been PM'd. Thanks .As for the photo thing, think i've worked it out.

    Raising and caring for frogs.

Kiddies pool ,are you talking about like one of those clam shell pools. Most of the kids pools will break down over time and may leach toxins into the water. A bath is your best /cheapest option. Look on EBAY under ponds and you might get a bargain.
