Can someone help me indentify these

Thats funny. What excuse did you give the ranger or were you caught red handed? My Friend always carries a camera with them for three reasons 1,to look like a tourist type cruising the bush for pics, 2, you can put things in the camera bag ( my Friend has a large one) ( bag that is) and 3, for actually taking photos of great specimens.

    Land Yabbies

Go outside at night with a torch ,sneak up on the burrows and you should see them. You could probably put a piece of meat on a bit of string and go yabbying in your own back yard. Catch and release of course.

    Possible Sub?

Yes , there is an edge of blue. I just get so paranoid these days as i have so much at stake. In my day i never picked a sub' that wasn't a sub'. But now with all the images i am seeing of the lookalikes just makes me want to be sure of my identification. Some of the stems look blackish. 25 years ago , i wouldn't have doubted them. I will photograph fresh ones just to be on the safe side.

    Possible Sub?

In proper light, the prints do look the same but i will suggest to afoaf trying black paper for print ID's . Also ,i do agree that the print does look like a gallerina but the mushroom it came from ,you would swear it was a sub. I will upload a photo of a fresh one in the next few days and see what ya rekon.

    Possible Sub?

I sorta jumped in on the new member Jay6785 with his opening topic of 'possible subs'(sorry mate). As i am older now and i like to think more wiser,i am extremely cautious about my Friend eating poisonous mushrooms. So i thought i would chuck my two bob in and get my foaf subs/prints looked at as well. Yeah so sorry again Jay and welcome to the forum.

    Possible Sub?

If the cap color is meant to always be different from the gills, I am confused. A Friend of a Friend had some subs drying out . Now paranoid, has gone back over the collection which were all collected in a small area. Most have distinct blue coloration on the stem. The ones that don't , still look the same as the others and have been put aside . See photos ( yes they look skanky now but remember are/were being dried out). Also are some spore prints taken when they were fresh. To the Friend of a Friend, they don't look purple/black. This person has collected many a time but long ago and is now overly cautious with all the info on lookalikes. These mushrooms do not have a annulus. I know the photos are not great, but have trouble uploading them so i had to alter the size.

    Possible Sub?

G'day Jay. It does look subish but the photo quality is not overly great so makes it harder to identify, though I am no mycologist and as yes the rule of thumb goes "If in doubt, chuck it out". I will be interested to see the spore print.

    Incog's pulled up the stumps

As i am new to the Forum i don't know Incognito personally but have read the posts. I am very confused as to what gender Incog might be. In the profile it states that Incognito is a female, so when i read the posts left by incog i am picturing a female. Now i am Reading Incog referred to as a male. ??!!#^*??. ( ya trixta Incognito).I hope to read more of your posts in the future. Edit for spelling !

    2010 Sub season

I see a little patch of subs every week day whilst walking my kids to their classrooms. Right in everyones plain view in a garden bed inside the school ground. I snicker quietly to myself every time i go past .

    sida rhombifolia

This plant is also a food plant for the larvae of the Common Eggfly Butterfly. It does have its uses but can disperse a lot of seeds.

    sawdust for mycelium

What about the sawdust from particle boards like MDF and chip board. Could the glues used in these products (which are hazardous to your lungs) be transfered to the mycelium?

    2010 Sub season

Ya walking in the bush , you see a group of golden caps, right shape, right color, right height. As you excitedly approach you realize that it is more of those little brown mushrooms and not the goods( P.sub'). I am sure most of us have been there. Some of those 'look a likes' are so similar that it is scary.

Those Amanita muscaria are such a magical looking species aren't they. They would look so great growing in the garden.

Using Bicarbonate Against the Swine Flu

I use bi-carb for ...the swimming pool, the fish tank, the kitty litter tray, in my shampoo, for heartburn, in the fridge (it absorbs smells). etc..... . I have heard that an acid Ph in ones body can be encourage cancer. So the more i read about the benefits of bi-carb, the more inclined i am to add it to my daily diet( in small doses). Thanks for the great information.
