  2. Hi folks, As you may or may not know, I have just moved up to NNSW to attempt living a completely different lifestyle. Its already showing me many challenges and many rewards. I have started a little blog about it, mainly to keep my mum in the loop now I am far away from her, but also for all my friends and interested parties. A lot of what I am trying to do is very new to me and it is all a grand adventure/experiment in freedom and gardening a deprogramming my head from the city. So I am very keen for feedback, advice, assistance - anything at all really. You can follow along my blog here at : https://nigggles.wordpress.com but I will probably update it here each week too.

  7. Hey just wondering if anyone else here loves mysterious universe. If yu haven't heard of it it is an podcast from some aussie dudes focussing on strange or paranormal events and information. Theyre not true believers or total skeptics, they explore details of the ridiculous and the more plausible. It is often funny and sometimes very thoughtful and thought provoking. I have become fully hooked. They provide links to info on everything they cover from ufos bigfoot, government conspiracies, to new info on gut bacteria and how artificial fragrances can be toxic. So much entertainment. Get into it http://mysteriousuniverse.org/category/podcasts/

  10. Are you all psyched for this? Finally after years of waitingits back outdoors. Thisevent has been the highlight of the year for me in the past. I'm looking forward to meeting my community again. Seriously if you haven't been or are unsure about attending, make the investment. You just don't get to meet this group of people together at the same time in other circumstances.
  11. I was recently introduced to the Wim Hof Method by a friend, I have been getting some very interesting results... If you dont know about the Wim Hof method, its a form of breathing exercise/meditation popularised by this guy: Wim Hof. He has become famous for his ability to perform extreme feats of endurance, usually to do with resisting the cold. He attributes his achievements to his breathing method. (He currently holds about 20 Guinness world records for various things like running marathon in subzero conditions wearing only shoes and shorts, sitting in ice up to neck for hours on end and being able to consciously control his immune system to some degree) If you would like to see a Vice doco about him and his method it is here: https://www.vice.com/video/iceman I became interested as my friend claimed to have had amazing changes in his health since working with the breathing method each day - eczema and asthma apparently ceased to be a problem for him. So I started doing the breathing, (I have shared a link to a free demonstration of how to start doing this below) and started to get some really interesting results right away. Within a week of starting the course, i was able to hold my breath for 4 minutes 39 secs, without forcing it, it was easy. I started having cold showers as this is part of the technique... Now just to be clear... I hate being cold. I am moving to warmer climates because i find the cold of winter in melbourne to be crippling.. if I am not rugged up my back seizes up and i am in pain for weeks. I cant stand being in cold water. i wont go swimming unless the water is above 28 degrees. So to have a cold shower is something i would never normally dream of doing. However with use of the breathing technique I have found cold showers to be quite tolerable and after only 2 cold showers I had this realisation that all the pain i experience related to cold is actually just me reacting to the cold - not something the cold does to me .. and it is something I can choose not to do! So all of a sudden i no longer have to rug up in fear of having an injury! All it took was some breathing. (and a cold shower) My understanding is that this awareness and control of my physical reaction should be able to expanded to include my immune response.. it is possible I will be able to control my allergies and skin reactions! Whenever I do the breathing it makes me feel extremely calm in a way I have only previously been able to achieve through using floatation tanks or long meditation sessions, but now can be achieved with 5 minutes of breathing. So now I am embarking on the ten week course - I am still in the first week but I feel changes occurring already. I have had some pretty amazing and beautiful out of body experiences doing longer deep breathing sessions.. have accessed some places I didn't think that I personally would ever be able to get to without the use of some mind altering substance. I am really excited about all of this and feel like this technique has opened a whole new realm of possibilities for me. Anyone else had any experience with this? I would love to hear about it if you have! Here is the demo video: http://www.wimhofmethod.com/video-miniclass/

    R U OK? NNSW flooding

Hi there, Im not far from lismore and yeah the rain has been epic. Im ok, being up on a ridgeline certainly helps. My road has been chewed up real bad by the water and a couple of trees came down, but my garden is fine and house is fine. Looking at the road reports it looks like it will be a while before I can get to town easily, lots of landslips and roads torn away and still water everywhere, but I have plenty of food, Im all snug in bed watching the rain out the window. Internet is really suffering at the moment, Iguess because everyone is stuck at home, but once I get to town I will post some photos

    Acacia ID please?

Had to drop a couple of trees after the hectic rains up here.. both appear to be the same type of acacia.. can anyone help me ID them? Most of the seed pods were dry and empty or too green to get a good seed, but the one I found was very flat and oval shaped like the photo below.. I havent seen them flower ufortunately so I cant tell you about that. Both big trees, sorry they had to come down.

The grand EGA convoy/bum a lift thread (east coast)

Great post! Just what I need. I have a friend who is coming to her first EGA. Shes going to be in Melbourne and needs a lift up to and back from the event (shes from QLD) Anyone who can help please let me know. She is a Biochemist/scientist/fulltime uni student just bursting with information, I personally think she should be giving talks but maybe after she has attended I can push that agenda on her But Im sure you will have an interesting time whoever ends up helping.
