Anyone into heirloom varieties of veges? I am so keen to start growing things like purple carrots and beefsteak tomatoes, ordering some seeds now! -
Ahhh, crap, think I made a mistake putting it in the ground as the stock is TINY!
-
Birds took it Will have to try again. The PC pach also fell off due to birds, however the peruvianus has started to get larger and has grown new spines, so it has struck! One question, though: I've planted the peruv graft in the ground - does the stock need light or just the scion? Cheers

There are some on eBay cheap as all hell ($15 or so I believe and $30 for 1000). PM me if keen to split the 1000.

IMO order the Shulgin Index along with the other 2 from the Transform Press website. Can't wait for the index!

My peter pepper is finally beginning to flower and I am chasing some pollen of some black chilis in order to cross them with it. I am mainly after black C. annums however any species will do. Please shoot me a pm if you can help out, you will be rewarded with some of the (hilarious) results. Cheers

Thank you for that great advice! That was basically my plan of attack (will post in more detail when I re-write it, was bombed at the time). A problem I can see is the chilis not all flowering at the same time. I can not find any information on the internet about storing chili pollen, but I will try in the freezer! I plan to use a bubbleponics setup to reduce the amount of time it takes to reach flowering. Is there a way to trigger it environmentally like it is possible to do with certain other plants? Even if the Big Black Penis ® is too much trouble to do, I wouldn't mind just making some random crosses and seeing what comes out regardless. I've got a book on plant breeding from the ANU library, I will try to scan it. It's a pretty damn good resource.

That's odd. Mine all are rooted within 2 weeks of callousing usually, but that's in central QLD. I had one pach seedling graft start to bulge but a bird took it before it could do much else (bastard thing). But it looks like it worked! I've got a peruvianus tip grafted also which has done nothing but grow larger spines. Definitely keep the water up to the peres, I tread it like a normal house plant and it goes WILD!! Edit: Are you rooting in the ground or just on a bench or something? Mine did root when not in the ground but it took significantly longer, didn't have any problems with rot if they were in the ground though. Edit 2: There are also many many many MANY Opuntia around here if you are keen for as many paddles as you like!

Be careful with the one still in the ground, it might rot now that it is exposed. I think sulfur is the way to go to stop rot and such Good luck.

I have almost unlimited Harrisia Martini cuttings available, just PM me :D

Oh no!

Lol. I think they were planning to make circumventing and promoting how to circumvent it illegal as well. That being said it would still be easy to do, just difficult to get the message out.

Interesting! Here is the article: Kirkinine, a New Daphnane Orthoester with Potent Neurotrophic Activity from Synaptolepis kirkii.pdf

I'm willing to give these a shot if anyone knows where to track down seed. Willing to pay money. I tried taking some cuttings from a phleb in the national botanic gardens, but the leaves all got this weird white mould. It seems everything I try to grow in my dorm room ends up either not doing anything, or getting attacked by some sort of pathogen LOL. Going there to grab some more and will report back.

Also interested if anyone wants to offload some.
