Legend! I'm down for some seeds. PM'd

Ah bugger, would have raced there right now for it! Amazing offer focus. :D Wouldn't mind cloning a leaf if possible? New genetic stock always welcome in my garden. What species is it?

I'll be flying over to Melbourne and taking the shuttle bus in and out of EGA.
Last year I flew over and then leasurely drove all the way back to Perth, but no time to repeat this year. Only have a week to spare, so I recon I'll do the same as occidentalis and enjoy Melbourne for a couple of days before the event.
Nice BT, sounds like a wicked adventure in the making

'John' please and thank you. Trichocereus macrogonus? I'm no good at ID'ing

Thanks rahli, beaut packaging kept them safe and moist in transit. Ditto jebus on the leaves, had success cloning by leaf before, hopefully it's repeatable Cheers again.
Peace,

I'll bump it to $60

I started my farm with a handful of red wrigglers from eatfoo here on the forum, and supplemented with about twice the amount you get in a Bunnings box, which I bought from a dude on Gumtree for $20. Based on that, I'd call the Bunnings ones overpriced, even with discount. I'll happily swing you some if you havn't made it to Bunnings yet.
Also, make up the worm fattener as described in the book that comes with the farm. That stuff is amazing.

Uda

I like the look of the third from the right, will grab that one if I can mate.

VVV Gets Acacia acuminata seed, P. som (Canadian double bloom) seed, Nicotiana rustica seed, N. langsdorffii seed, a TBM segment, and anything else I might find VVV

I'll put forward $75. Loved every bit of the last EGA, definitely something worth supporting.

Not sure of any gardens that might have some to spare, besides City Farm maybe. Was just at my local Bunnings and they still had boxes of worms, $30 for 500 and $50 for 1000. Quite expensive, and they were completely dried out, could only find a few worms rummaging through them. Looked like they had been left in the sun. Poor wormies.
Eatfoo, definitely keen on any number you can spare. No rush on my setup, just trying to keep cost down. PM'd

Got a worm farm ready to go, just missing the most important bit. Anyone able to spare some composting worms in Perth? Can trade assorted seeds, or can make some PC cuts good for grafting stock? Or a few dollars? Box of worms from Bunnings is just too exxy imo for something that can keep growing off organic waste.

I'll grab the Silene if that's cool. Thanks tons centipede, very generous offer.

Jan 9th works for me, and for as long as I'm on study break so does almost anytime. Was keeping an eye on the WA trades thread waiting for a date confirmation, but I guess it makes sense to start a meet-specific thread. Looking forward to meeting some of the local scene.

So I'm in a strange city (Melb), and I'm pretty damn keen to check out Strawberry Fields while I'm here. Just wondering if any of you awesome folks might be heading down, and could find it in your heart to share 2 seats for the missus and myself? Don't have any other way of getting there :'(
Pretty please someone help us out. Will provide good company for the trip, and chip in for fuel!
Peace,
Uda

I'll be there, and so will the missus. Made the trip from Perth early, staying at Flinders Station Backpackers for another ~2 weeks. :D

Ah damnit, wanted to grab tix for this in Melb. Any way I could score 1 or 2?

Poor germ rates expected because a mate had zero of ~50 pop up, but nevermind that, I've chosen a different source. I suppose that negates the need for anything too grand like playing with GA3.
Chemically or physically attacking/weakening the seedcoat sounds like a good idea to help the seeds along. Now stored in the grey matter for another day. I could use a new hoby, and you know how to talk up amateur rocketry Harry

That's all folks

Since joining this wonderful forum I've been rather quiet, and certainly more active in Seed & Plant Exchange than elsewhere. Just wanted to say cheers to everyone for building such a great place, and to all the people that have been so generous in trades with me.
I don't have a lot to give back in terms of growing experience of seeds from my garden atm, but I have some excess Acacia Acuminata seeds. 5 packs of 20 odd seeds to anyone keen, just post here then shoot me a PM.
Peace,
Uda

I'm about to fly somewhere it would be legal and order a fair number of Lophophora Williamsii seeds, but I'm not hopeful of having good germination rates without assistance of seed treatment. So I'm curious, does anyone have data concerning GA3 treatment rates/methods vs. germination rates of Lophophora sp.? Perhaps I'm overcomplicating things, and there's an easier way to ensure decent germ rates such as plain water soakimg, cold shocking etc? Any and all input appreciated of course.
A short while searching this forum for Lophophora, or any cactaceae specific information of GA3 use turned up little. Searching for suppliers turned out well, but also left me with more questions than answers regarding it's use.
It seems I want solid/powder GA3 to mix into solution myself, as mixed solutions don't keep well. Do I want it water or alcohol soluble form? What strength should it be mixed to for Lophs; I'm reading reports of between 50 and 2000ppm for various plants? Can the solution strength be undershot and the seed tested and retreated repeatedly, or is there only one shot at germinating the seeds?
Discuss.
All done.
