  1. If MDEC is a controlled drug as stated in the article, how did he get let off? Fair enough he could argue its not an analog because its named in the list of controlled drugs, couldn't the charges be amended to importing a controlled drug? The whole premise behind how he got off seems very odd. He got off after being found with 2 packages of cocaine at 100g each??? Is he an AFL football player or TV personality or something?
  2. I would love to know how to apply the wacko Google filter to my pics, some nice fractal google dreamed subs or cubes would be sweet.

Anyone gone sth west of WA yet??

I have some work on down in Bridgetown, I finished early today and went for an explore, one spot that I knew produced last year, one rough location from second hand info and one that was a booming treasure trove about 10yrs ago. I found a big fat nothing at all locations, its cold down here but everything was fairly dry. I did find 2 old decaying ones at the old boomer spot but they were drying up and were maybe 5days old. Two of these spots were confirmed about a month ago but its dry as a bone down here at the moment. I must have driven close to 200km today on the hunt and all I got was some nice shots of what few native local species I could find. That was tiring work and I need a beer, I'll fill the spa as well as a consolation. What a bummer.
  7. I heard a story years ago about French gravediggers during the plague who would crush up raw garlic and put it in their wine, apparently they were a healthy bunch. Some red and a tsp of crushed garlic isn't the worst thing in the world. It didn't fix my winter colds, oregano oil works much better for that.

TV series worth watching..are there any?

In the flesh is a fantastic zombie TV series. Three episodes in season 1 and 6 in season 2 and that is all. Outstanding in its ability to be way more about non zombie related issues like suicide, homosexuality and cultural intolerance. Epic British TV.

    Slippery Jacks?

I have some Polish mates and their parents would pick the slippery jacks and cook them up, we picked some one day out in the bush near Dwellingup but when it came time to eat the cooked mushroom it barely got past the tip of my tongue as the texture was so repulsive I had to spit it out. The underside looked like honeycomb sponge, and the flesh was a caramel colour, the darker brown skin on the top of the cap required removal first before cooking I think. I reckon they are only good for photographing :-)

Well what do you know! Psychedelic drug found that regenerates pancreatic beta cells From http://www.examiner.com/article/psychedelic-drug-found-that-regenerates-pancreatic-beta-cells March 9, 2015 10:28 AM MST Play The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved new diabetes drug Toujeo on Wednesday, a move that might save French drugmaker Sanofi's profits. on.aol.com Diabetes is caused by the loss of beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Dr. Andrew Stewart, Director of the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine, and colleagues have found that harmine and related compounds regenerate pancreatic cells lost due to diabetes. The discovery was reported in the March 9, 2015, edition of the journal Nature Medicine. Harmine is derived from a flowering plant called Harmal (peganum Harmala) and is known to have psychoactive properties. Harmine was found to initiate the growth of beta cells at a rate similar to the rate that is seen in children. Normally, beat cells are produced in children at a rapid rate during the first year of life. The beta cells produced should last for a lifetime except for people that develop diabetes. The scientists have identified the mechanistic and genetic pathways that harmine uses to produce a growth spurt in beta cells. The researchers identified harmine from a catalog of 100,000 potential drugs and compounds that might produce beta cell regeneration. A drug that regenerates beta cells will eliminate insulin therapy. The researchers proved that harmine works in mice that were genetically modified to have diabetes. The next step in the process is to identify the psychoactive portion of the harmine molecule and produce a compound that has the beta cell regeneration effects of harmine without the psychoactive effects. The manufacturers of insulin for diabetes will probably fight this development with the FDA to protect their profits.

I was looking into immunomodulatory herbs and diabetes and found this From http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2014/461685/ AbstractHemoHIM (a new herbal preparation of three edible herbs: Angelica gigas Nakai, Cnidium officinale Makino, and Paeonia japonica Miyabe) was developed to protect immune, hematopoietic, and self-renewal tissues against radiation. This study determined whether or not HemoHIM could alter hyperglycemia and the immune response in diabetic mice. Both nondiabetic and diabetic mice were orally administered HemoHIM (100 mg/kg) once a day for 4 weeks. Diabetes was induced by single injection of streptozotocin (STZ, 200 mg/kg, i.p.). In diabetic mice, HemoHIM effectively improved hyperglycemia and glucose tolerance compared to the diabetic control group as well as elevated plasma insulin levels with preservation of insulin staining in pancreatic β-cells. HemoHIM treatment restored thymus weight, white blood cells, lymphocyte numbers, and splenic lymphocyte populations (CD4+ T and CD8+ T), which were reduced in diabetic mice, as well as IFN-γproduction in response to Con A stimulation. These results indicate that HemoHIM may have potential as a glucose-lowering and immunomodulatory agent by enhancing the immune function of pancreatic β-cells in STZ-induced diabetic mice. Lots of interesting stuff in the middle, followed by In conclusion, HemoHIM improved the symptom of STZ-induced diabetic. The evidence of these characteristics of HemoHIM includes (1) restoration from destroyed β-cells by STZ; (2) increase in blood insulin level; (3) decrease in blood glucose level by increased insulin; (4) protection of body and organs weight from disruption by STZ; (5) inhibitition of immunological changes by STZ. On the basis of the results described herein, we suggest that HemoHIM has antidiabetic potential against increase in blood glucose levels and even immune system disruption. My little boy seems to be in a honeymoon phase where his pancreas kind of boots up again, this inevitably leads to the autoimmune response which destroys it for good. My theory was if some form of immonomodulatory herb was administered while in the honeymoon phase and continuing thereafter, that the body may be prevented from destroying the last of the functioning beta cells.

    Drink Spiking

I was at a friends party one evening and wasn't feeling 100%. He had some mulled wine on the stove and gave me a glass, about 10 minutes later he asked me how I was feeling (seeing I wasn't quite 100%) and I thought he must have spiked my drink and my head started spinning and I was freaking out and feeling really unwell. I asked him if he had spiked my drink and he gave me this "your kidding me right" look and said he would never do that. I calmed down a bit and things started going back to normal, later on that evening after a few more drinks I had relaxed and calmed down and felt absolutely fine. My anxiety related freak out had been completely in my head and he hadn't put anything in my drink. It was ok when I was mostly sober and could further relax but in a psychedelic frame of mind the same scenario can take on an unpleasant life of its own.

Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated. Gynura procumbens was the one I was thinking about, I didn't realise that St Mary's Thistle was useful for that too.

I have a work laptop running windows 8 with a W7 shell because I don't like W8. When setting up W8 it demanded a linked e-mail and I put in my password for my hotmail, now when I log into my computer, the password is whatever my hotmail password is. I tried changing my hotmail password from home and couldn't log in to my work laptop in the morning until I used the new password. How do I unlink this? I have a feeling that I am going to bail on this job in the not too distant future, they will obviously need the laptop back. If I change my password on hotmail after I leave, my employer won't be able to get into the computer. Any ideas?
  20. From https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/26031271/marijuana-firm-set-for-asx-debut/ Ross Smith's Phytotech Medical is set to make its sharemarket debut on Thursday to become Australia's first listed medical marijuana company. The company, which wants to develop medical cannabis delivery systems to help those suffering conditions including chronic pain and cancer, easily reached the $5 million target under its initial public offering prospectus and two weeks ago agreed to take an extra $932,410, also at 20c. It will give Phytotech a market capitalisation of $8.9 million. Phytotech lodged its prospectus with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in November and wanted to list before Christmas. However, its status as the ASX's first medical cannabis company provoked "an extra level of scrutiny", as Phytotech insiders described it, and probing of a partnership deal with Yissum Research Development in Israel. Israel, where executive director Mr Smith and managing director Boaz Wachtel will be based, is also a key market for Phytotech along with parts of Europe and the US which have regulated medical cannabis laws. Phytotech says it will spend $3.2 million of IPO cash on technology development.

  24. I found this really interesting. http://weburbanist.com/2015/01/11/worlds-largest-indoor-farm-is-100-times-more-productive/ "The statistics for this incredibly successful indoor farming endeavor in Japan are staggering: 25,000 square feet producing 10,000 heads of lettuce per day (100 times more per square foot than traditional methods) with 40% less power, 80% less food waste and 99% less water usage than outdoor fields." Wow the future of farming?
