I found that sclerota forming mushrooms didn't form a nice sclerota on wheat. The sclerota was spongy and full of wheat with no defined margins. Red Milo yielded excellent sclerota that were well formed and dense without being full of grain, they were pebble like and nuggety. Added to that I got 3 flushes out of the red Milo grain where the wheat was not fit for recycling.

Rye seed would do nicely, although I would take red sorghum if it was considerably cheaper, Ill have to give them a call or drop by this week.

Hyphal tells me that it can be found down Bussleton way but I was looking for something a bit more local to Perth. Apparently its not great in bird feed and is used to bulk up,but most birds leave it, its not that nutritious. I might try a stock feed place next time I'm down south for work. I believe its shape and lower nutritional value make it more suitable for certain strains.

I had a san pedro purge in Peru, it was after a week in the jungle purging on Aya. I ate the raw cactus as there was no other way for me to prep it (by myself in the highlands), I felt the purge coming and strangely the masticated cactus with its sliminess was really easy to purge, it kind of just slid out without and discomfort, best vom ever :-) I felt fine for the next 12 hours then finally got some sleep ( I was about 3 hours in at that point).

I have access through work to some STRONG radioactive sources and an X-ray generator and I was wondering about subjecting a growing cactus to some gamma radiation, Dr David Banner style. Everyone seems pretty keen on mutant varieties of cacti so I thought I might try and make my own. I was thinking of bringing a healthy cactus to work and irradiating it with an intense radiation burst over a short period of time to see what sort of mutations if any would occur in the growing cactus. Is this a crazy idea that will never work, or should I take the risk of using the equipment for non work related endeavours in the attempt of creating a mutant cactus. Cue evil scientist laugh, mwha ha ha ha ha ha. The test cactus will be called Dr Banner Dr. David Banner: physician; scientist; cactus. Searching for a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all cactus have. Then an intentional overdose of gamma radiation alters his column chemistry. And now when David Banner grows angry, outraged or a bit too spiky, a startling metamorphosis occurs. The cactus is driven by rage and pursued by an investigative reporter and a throng of psychonauts. ( "Mr. McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.") The mutant cactus creature is wanted for a psychedelic awakening he didn't commit. David Banner is believed to be inactive, and he must let the world think that he is inactive, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

I was following Torstens adventures with cranberry juice on FB recently, he was loosing some weight which he believed was due to the purple in the cranberries (I'm paraphrasing). I am quite partial to pomegranate juice, it has one of the highest ORAC ratings I have seen and I like the taste, you can also get it in 100% juice. After reading up on pomegranate juice & extracts it turns out that it can be helpful in managing type 1 diabetes as it ( cant remember specifics at the moment) modifies the body's metabolism of sugars. So I found a place that sold pomegranate extract, this particular store sells "not for human consumption, cosmetics only" extracts so I grabbed some and capped it up. I was hoping that the purple in the pomegranate and the awesome ORAC might also help me loose some weight. I did manage to shift a kg or two but I don't believe that it was due to the direct effects of the extract. What I started to notice was that my sugar cravings (and alcohol cravings) were vastly reduced, and because I wasn't smashing the Jersey caramels and chock buds so much, and drinking less whiskey & dry, I was able to loose some weight. I offered some to my long suffering other half & human guinea pig and she also noticed the reduction in sugar cravings . In fact the cravings have been much abated for weeks after finishing the first course of pomegranate extract. I am interested in the anti-diabetic aspects of the pomegranate as my 3 yr old was diagnosed earlier this year, but will wait for him to make an informed choice rather than dosing the little guy. Anyway, we have a blood glucose tester in the house and one day I thought I would test myself. Now the standard range for a non diabetic is around 5 or 6 milli moles/L, if my son drops below 4 we need to give him some carbs or sugar to bring his level up, and if he is above 8 we need to start treating him or at least monitor his intakes more closely. Anyway this was only 1 measurement I took on myself late one morning and my BGL was 3.9 milli mole/L so I think the extract might have had something to do with the low reading, but a sample size of 1 is a pretty poor representation. In the months previous I had tested myself a few times and usually got results around 5.6mm/L so was quite surprised to see the 3.9. Anyway I thought I would post this for interest. I was testing this on myself to see if there were any adverse side effects like intestinal discomfort but was surprised by these results. I also have a Momordica charantia extract (bitter gourd) which is purported to have anti-diabetic functions as well but haven't tried any so far. Neither myself nor my partner have diabetes and there is no recorded family history of it.

I went traveling in my younger days and I estimated it cost me around 20K a year not including the airfare and that was 15 yrs ago. Absolutely worth the adventures and experiences but took years of working and living at home and luck to pull off. I am old and much better off now but even though Im on a good wage, I have a family of 4 to support so there is sweet FA left after all the bills are paid. I spent years getting reamed in shitty jobs to gain the experience to leave it all behind and get a great job. Sometimes you have to suck it up in the present (for years :-( unfortunately) to set yourself up for a better future. A mate of mine never would put up with shit jobs for long and has no tolerance for fools, he is still working shitty jobs and is beset on all sides by fools. Unfortunately money makes the world go around, food and shelter and clothing don't usually manifest themselves from good intentions. I would love to be self sufficient with a large rainwater tank and solar and fruit trees and vegetables, that is an expensive dream, so I work and save and invest and hope for the best.

I tried wheat but it gets a bit sticky and doesn't drain that well, I had some good success with millet & sorghum.

As much as I hate to admit this, there has been an occasion when after a weeks detox and following a Saturday night Aya session, while on the way home the next day I have been overcome with a Zinger Burger Deluxe craving. Have given in to said craving I rejoiced, as no particular pangs of guilt were associated with its consumption. It seemed so wrong and felt so right.

Years ago one summer I was able to get some great colonisation on horse manure and straw in an 80L tub using a kilo of colonised wheat. Blue green mould took over and I tossed the lot in the garden under a tree, the natural environment took care of any further mould and the outer layer dried up. I gave it some water every day to keep it moist and about a week later the whole thing started fruiting. I was picking mushrooms off it for 6 weeks during the Perth summer.

I do like the lemon oil, 10 drops ingested is quite nice & smells wonderful too. I used some lemon oil with coconut oil on my dog recently as he had some fleas (as a short term preventative which kills fleas) he was super chilled out afterwards & I was worried he was tripping on limonene. He is all good now, I'm not convinced he liked the lemon fresh scent. He was much relieved from the fleas though, the mix literally killing fleas within a couple of minutes. Vaporising Basil oil could be interesting (methyl chavicol).
