  1. you cant go wrong witha good ol catha edulis tea, its better off to use the more mature leathery leaves and leave the young soft normally red shoots for goat feed. wash the older leaves like mentioned above in water to rid the basic bits of dirts and or bugs, slice them up with scissors, doesnt have to too fine as it really is just to help the leaves leech more. use a fair bit of water no real rule of thumb but you dont want it too dense. pop the stove on a low simmer, the lower the better as i dont think boiling is the right way, half an hour to an hour max, if your fussy mayby strain. mayby some lemon juice and sugar to taste even a tea bag or two if you are partial to tea. milk is not really an option, a bit wrong somehow.

it actually tastes rather yummy but is a kind of aquired taste, like most things. i think cathine transfers very well to this tea, from those that have done it the older leaves always work better than younger leaves, perhaps cathinone which is most prominent in younger leaves has heat degradability, where-as cathine perhaps not. you can see thousands of years history at work here, it is as close as you can get to proper tea per se. a few cups will pick you up but certainly only comparable to normal coffee or tea, mayby a touch stronger. its not recommended to have the water too black, ie highly concentrated but urban myths highlight some very energetic an conversational experiences if you enjoy it in more quantity. it really depends, my personal theory is that catha edulis is very fickle ie the strength can vary daily, one day somebody will figure it out, at the moment my theory is that very humid days towards march april, the temp about 26-32c and about 11am picked, thats generally for goat feed, but for tea i find the fickleness even more pronounced. as with anything check your countries legal status and always enjoy in moderation.

  2. expect nasty shock ads over the weekend.

you mean like - legal drugs available online in australia

or - youth subculture experiment with dangerous unknown experimental plants

or - police target new south american drug craze

or - doctors warn of harm caused by common backyard plants

or - nurserys the new backyard meth labs

Torsten, i have never met you and probably never will, however i had a prophetic dream the other night that i met you in person and you were deep in research, you seemed more scientist than hippie. I imagine you now as blonde brown haired, thin build and 35ish but in my dream you were deep in work, 55ish grey black haired very serious but calm in nature and whilst you were occupied in work you still took time to remember me when i came to visit your place as in a tourist type location. It seemed like you said to me - do i know you? and i said yes im on your website as santiago, you paused for a second or two like you were pondering your mind database and said - ah how are you in a friendly way and how is that daughter of yours? i have imagined what that place of yours wanjina i think is like, i imagine a big place with a mountain somewhere and many cages for some reason but in the dream the office was was very govermental like, very organised, it ran strangely downhill to your office all around and there was a waterless moat kind of walkway around your main office with a walkway that went around the building like a square.

Personally i have never read much into dreams and i still dont but i think they represent subconscious underthoughts. If im wrong well then i saw your future. Your future is bright and i found you more scientific and factual than i probably may have given you credit for. But you certainly have a battle ahead of you, the wolves are at the door and i think the way life is heading things will get a lot worse before they get better. So i think your in for some problems and this community too.Im only being realisic about it. There are some narrow minded people out there in power and as JR says in the new dallas promo.... nobody ever gets just gets power, somebody has to lose it or take it and i think that represents the so called policy of a lot of current day causes we must all abide by. I think you are in for a battle and up for it, the decision is for you...whether you want to be buried in a pile of paperwork in your later years, or a kind person with a sense of humanity and spirituality.

  3. thanks indian dreaming, i suppose selling one now might be the right time cos alot of 30-50 year olds get all sentimental with that kind of memorabilia, if you hold onto it another twenty years those people who get sentimental will be 50-70 and either dead, dont care, moved on or sick or changed priorities. The next age group wont be as emotive driven towards a 64 so much, of course the rarity will be more and you would think at least a doubling of price but the demand i dont think will be huge. Emotion often drives demand. At least you have 2 i suppose so you can always keep one. I suppose i might start hoarding playstation2's i find at the dump then hahah...im not kidding either. let us know hat you got if or when you sell your 64.

  4. going in a plane at about 2, distinctly that the lovely lady who was the air hostess gave me three slices of sweet bread, one coloured and flavoured chocolate, one vanilla and one strawberry. the most amazing thing i had ever seen in my then short life that still i remember today.

  5. nice topic nabraxas, very warm and reminiscy. couldnt help but check the bay australia and the bids are staggering. on the second line down however there was a very funky tshirt i reckon would (in a dorky sheldon like way) be totally uber cool. i wonder what the one that has 35 odd bids now for 200 will eventually go for, im thinkin 600ish.

my mates and i in about 1990 or so used to come back in from cold winter walks to climb the roofs of the local high school only to come back home to jonesys house and get looked up and down by his mummy who obviously knew what us teenagers were up to and used to drop her repeating mummy castigation - "something smells like smoke". so hurriedly we shuffled off to the bedroom whilst avoiding as much eye contact as possible and drop into the bean bags, shut off the light and plonk in a cassette.......til this day i dont know the game but it was a car game, the little car used to go around a track and do some radical little slideys around the corners akin to drifts i suppose. only a 2d top view of course but thats all we needed. and there we were totally satisfied giggling like primary school kids for hours and then riding home 4kms to get home near midnight with a massive grin on my face.

i suppose as the years went on the other games we enjoyed the best for a night in were the original top gear 1, the original mario carts, street fighter 2 and medal of honour rising sun, even though us mates still are mates and catch up regulary and one has playstation 3 kit and kaboodle with all th games for his own kids, we just cant get into it like we used too. even though the games are meant to be a million times better the common consensus is somehow by becomeing more immersive the games lack that simplistic and fun element that actually creates good fun gameplay in itself, by becoming more complicated with 10 buttons it just doesnt have simple enjoyment and intuition- sadly the games nowdays lack humanity. but then again im sure the teenagers today will be saying the same thing in 20-30 years.

  6. dont these big companies go broke from bad financial decisions or poor managagment or dodgy scamming ceo"s and bean counters>im sure most companies prolly rake in the dough before overconfidence or reckless decisions screw them up but yeh i assumed child cares are lucrative< how could they not be when small ones do minimum thirty kids a day at seventy bucks plus all the government perks thrown a bone that way

  7. i suppose its not really going to be a mystery that dance events will be targeted so if doing drugs is your thing then realistically it must be on peoples minds that there is a high percentage of coming under suspicion via dogs pat downs whatever> besides the civil liberty agument which is a real argument i suppose in my opinion its a bit nieve to even bother when the law is against you to even bother to try it< is it really worth it>if i have to act like some kind of thai drug courier just to gain entry to an event no matter how cool it may be then i think common sense isnt being followed< surely you play the percentages and cut your losses and just dont fall a sucker victim to this obviously telegraphed police tactic

  8. i suppose i was just having a whinge> seems like coroprations and governments want to speed up australia< longer opening hours and more open everything every day and night

which is fine but if your gonna force families to work increasingly longer and harder then there needs to be additional services > not everybody can rely on a subserviant wife or overworked grandparents or strain friendships with more and more babysitting if life is going to expand like new york the city that never sleeps< what do many people do its a catch twenty two situation but i suppose thats life ey> better than being slapped in the face by a wet fish i suppose : )

ps excuse my shocking grammar lately i spilt a drop of water on my laptop keypad and even a wireless keyboard or the on screen keyboard is malfunctioning most of the time< must have got into the chip or something>>need a new computer me thinkies>

  9. Probably not expecting much of a conversation from this one, in regards to an article i raed today in the newspaper the government is proposing changes to the child care act to allow more opening hours ie to 9pm weekdays and saturdays for example. Nothing set in concrete but it must be said that for those who need it, child care that is...now mainstreamly directed towards the 9-5 fratenity are only scraping in to pick up their kids by 6pm anyhow.

Some will laugh and say suck sour lemons anyhoo for being stupid enough for not using a condom and this is what you deserve. Im ok with that but on the other hand i dont think full maturity has been reached mentally by this minority of a few who express that wonderfully nieve expression of innocence. Yet those in the childcare industry express the position that they will resist an expansion of hours, due mainly to their own lives, family and poor pay. The poor pay part i dont really get because for the best part they feed kids weet bix and milk, provide some cheap paints and some salvo toys and get subsidised massive amounts up to 80% by the government. Every full time kid is 70 bucks, and ther are more child care centres than macdonald stores so thats a tell tale in itself money making wise.

So the real statement is, sunday trading, late shopping hours, getting centelink rorters and single mummies and daddies back to the workforce and contributing. I personally love shopping at woolworths at 8pm weeknights but i feel sorry as hell for the check out chicks who would be pretty much forced in many ways to make this work, for one the hours and two the family situations. Life seems to be heading towards a 24/7 style. Which is fine but we dont live in the same society as the 60's anymore. We accept, single parents, we accept gays, we accept emos, we accept facebook , we accept late night trading, we want to progress, but we dont accept single parents. On one hand they are stigmatised by being handout bums but on the other hand they cant accept most modern day jobs because ... who looks after the kids. So its a catch 22, cant work stay bums....all easily solved, many billions of dollars gained as well as lives if the 24/7 society of which humanity holds so precious equally equates to the equally selfish and lucrative child care industry.

  10. there is no chance at all of this happening, if you really believe it well let it be on the record i 100% dont and even if it does the only true reason i see the point it was so popular was to avoid certain drug testing protocols of which you can be certain will be included for example now as a main subclass ie it will be the top 6 tested for now, maybe just another way to get you the sack. plus isnt the medical jury out on long term effects already anyway, i know some will reference an equality to alcohol but at least the certain bad effects of alcohol are known, synthetics are as still as i know a big fat question mark, good luck but dont get your hopes up : )

  11. O what a generically simple but complicated question that should keep many a lost soul interested on a random internet search for the life expectancy and search probabilities of this information. Many will say procreation ie having sex and kids, but if that is the standard then why are we trying to eradicate AIDS and certain viruses. Do they not have the right to multiply too? Is the point of life transitional phases of chemical being, mayby the transition from hydrogen to helium and whatever other periodic table elements we know of. Simply a star based molecular gravitational creational god force which enables a side stream of matter to enable itself whether it is organic or inorganic. Is life based on a faith on religion? If thats the case which one of the thousands of religions should i choose? Millions of people believed in Ra the sun god or chose the aztec way of human sacrifice. If you asked them the they would say Ra snd heart sacrifice cutting was the meaning of life so im not realy sold on santa claus and jesus as my own personal meaning of life.

Mayby the best answer is that there is no meaning to life. The meaning of life is simply to exist from nothing, to balance out the positive and negative forces of life, we are simply that undefined line between black and white, a shade of grey that is neither black or white or has no meaning or some meaning. Why look for a meaning of life, what point will it serve? It cannot change anything. Its like looking for a lost set of car keys in your kitchen drawer. You have looked the first time, pulled all the papers out and decided to search elsewhere. You still cannot find your car keys anywhere so in frustration you return to the kitchen drawer full well knowing they wont be there but driven by your simplistic urges to find logic where logic does not exist you serch that drawer again and again and slowly you become more and more frustrated, surely you say you have not cheched under the wood, so finally you tear the wood apart and only damage your drawer and damage yourself. you knowe there is nothing there.

once you finally realise the keys are lost and by simple analogy you are even more lost, you finally realise that there is nothing. but dont be sad, this is the moment you finally accept that the meaniong of life, whatever you stand for, whoever you are, what you do, what you eat and shit and breath means and is absolutely nothing, nobody cares nobody really knows or wants to know, your whole being is simply a manifestation inside your head, once you accept that life has no meaning, regardless of your own learned, biased and subliminal beliefs..you can fully accept the meaning of life. Stop looking the keys are not in the cupboard. The meaning of life is life has no meaning. Simple philosophy, mathematics and religion.

  12. Thats a cool and interesting article whitewind, i suppose as it suggests it really is only in the realms of science fiction but then again science fiction has prophesised more than nostradamus ever has. I forget who it was Issac astimov or aurthur c clarke or one of those similar ilk of extremely talentented sci fi authors but they said that what we cant fathom as creatons of the future due to the inherant improbability of imagination or lack of ingenuity at the time or simply the inability of the human mind to forsee future development in simple and complicated technologies, for example only 100 years ago could people forsee space fight or jumbo jets, could people forsee penicillin, or space craft, or robots or the internet or aircraft carriers, or ipads or game consoles or dna sequencing or any of the other myriad of 1912 science fiction of what we take today to be literal and common fact. its really not a matter of intelligence but the ability of the human mind to accept today what may be unbelivable will in fact be commom knowledge and technology in the future. science fiction often ends up as science fact.

  13. having gone to anzac dawn service at kings park all i can say is that i felt a sense of proudness. we managed to get all the way up to the war memorial in spite of the odd 40000 people in between, there was an american aircraft carrier in town but the amount of american soldiers who were up at the monument was really pleasing, i mean these guys have not been on shore leave for 6 months and had 1 or 2 spare days at most and they were in full ceremonial gear at 530 in the morning to pay respects to us, that really pleased me.

most of all what suprised me was the amount of 16-25 year olds who generally get a bad rap for not being respectful in general who did come, there must have been at least 10000 of them and i think thats a good show of respect.

what really moved me the most was this old fella obviously a veteran of high distinction with his medals and stuff, as the sun was gaining light and after the last post he turned to the horizen and grabbed the air with tears streaming down his face and he pulled the air to his heart and said a loving hello to his lost mates with no embarrisment at all and said he was still here and still remembered them.

we live in such a planned out and clinical society today with no sense of true meaning and i for one was so moved by the whole service due to the youth, the americans and mainly the old man i believe that us civilians shouldnt judge what some people have been through but at the very least at least we can show respect and sentiment even if we do not fully understand the whole purpose of it. its not our place to judge but at least as in society and life as a whole you can be respectful of others.

  14. hurro, whilst im not really passionate about this thread it was one of the last ones i did past recently and i cant remember much of the others i did that have any revelance to life at the mo but for some reason i still like to watch crapola reality tv for the basic reason of psuedo gambling on my abilty to predict life factors based on character.

like everyone i suppose i reckon i know alot about meeting someone and pigeonholing their character into good and bad egg for example, if nothing more in my life i self admirate about i treally do think i am an exeptional judge of character. mayby though even though if in real life somebody isnt of good character at the moment doesnt mean they never will be in the future. anyway speil over the point im getting to is another prediction on this years 2012 aussie celebrity apprentice winner.

some backgound to my predictions. i chose albert in survivor last series....he didnt win but came top 3, out of 16 competitors ill definately take that as a positive. i chose jacinta, shane and jason in celebrity apprentice aus 2011 and they ended up being 3 out of top 4 last series so far so good.

this series of aus apprentice 2012 i choose for the following reasons the winner to be Ben Dark, the 3 runners up to be Jason Akermanis, Dicko and Tania Ziatta. Ben seems to be switched on and loyal plus he is moderately succesful in a wide ranging level of society and not too up himself. As with last season i believe AFL footballers high level are used to media scrutiny and negativity which eat away at lesser souls. Dicko is and already has been the head of many varied corporations and says what he thinks regardless of backstabbing and Tania has US and India resume's which is certainly the top end of business society.

As much as i hate media as many of you do i cany help but have fun with predictions and human foibles.

  15. vual i downloaded my local councils list of things needed and it seems really hard just on paper to get approval. i cant than you enough for a really functional thread and i really hope you follow your plan in post one and continue on with veins you proposed.

ok, im fully into this and im quite amazed at the 500bc city in that picture, when you compare it with say english buildings of a similar ilk that 500bc city looks pristine in comparison to the atypical old grey brick look. which was what i was wondering? see my grandfather built his own house back in the 50's by his bare hand, it was in bayswater WA. i have no idea how he did it as i just never really cared as a teenybopper or young adult. it was floorboard and fibro i think. but i think thats a problem with our and future generations. in my gdads day they had less council restrictions but more to the point they just got off their ass and made a home for the family skills or not....they just did it. todays people myself included would rather just pay some freak to do work so that they can go to the cricket or football instead and most importantly pay 4 to 10 times the going rate on simple tasks such as the labour alone. thats where i see most of the money to build a planned dale alcocky home, on overpriced labour alone paying for a crew of brickys and roof tilers labour costs who in pure reality are probably no better workers than you or i at the worst of times. sure the paying house buyer thinks he saves on time and that is invaluable but he pays for that time with an average of half a million dollars which you have to pay off slaving in some crap job for the next 25 years at least. the only winners are the banks so im not suprised that councils are payed off or swayed by banks to promote buying a new house off a plan vs doing it yourself. its all cross promotion if you get my gist...no conspiricy just pure self serving greed and population harnessing through pure dollars projected in the future.

but i want to be different. really how many people aged 20-50 can really hang their head held high or even go to the grave in the knowledge that they just didnt but a generic quick built home off a marketed architect plan but instead built their own and not only saved 10's of thousands but actually can leave behind and physically create a legacy. legacy is dead these days if you ask me. people would rather get somebody else to do work for them while they waste away in the office or lounge chair.

however vual, if i had a free or cheap source of bricks, as in bricks of a house but of different colours and sizes would the cob house in regards to rendering or intermixing the two still be a good option or do you think its better to go cob or adobe all the way. i frequent junk yard i know and see building materials everywhere but im kinda leaning towards clay/earth making a brick mould myself just so im part of every granule, i think you may know what i mean.

  16. without wiki or whatever i do recall something about toxicity in the leaves, possibly even cyanide im not sure. there is a person called teotzcoatl here that has a signature you should probably read. man there is no point in killing yourself for what at most will be a limited high or at best knowledge already stale from many hundreds of generations. we all like to think we are the first to find and do stuff but i assure you that you are not and there is a reason why. its the simple reason why cheese and tomato sandwhiches taste so good and cheese and avocado and tuna doesnt, even thouigh many people believe they are the first generation to achieve greatness i can promise you that your great grandfather was trying to fuck 18 year olds too.......the biggest fools in life are those who think they are achieving something new by baking bread, dont make the mistake in thinking you are different. the leaves you speak of will only bring you pain......possibly for the rest of your life.

  17. in all seriousness its a bit weird that you can only like something tho, isnt that in conflict with universal principles like ying yang, physics theory, philosophy, what goes up must come down etc etc.

there were times that a neg could self moderate a really disrespectful poster, change negative behaviours for the betterment of the group as a whole, in retrospect when i recieved likes it wasnt really as useful as the times i recieved negs, positives just re-inforce for myself at least a gloating of the ego and some falsified level of self satisfaction which is in the long term i think detrimental. at least the negs made me re-think my place and what i was trying to achieve and much like a speed camera it makes a person heed and take notice of the law, so to speak. even though there is no law here in the strictest term a serial negger will not survive and thats moderation at its most basic heart.

unfortunately if its all like like like then its a faulty system and means nothing and should be turned off until the group or the leaders decide to include negs or include nothing.

  18. yea this subject has intrigued me for a while, having the opportunity to experiment with a building is the least of my worries. see my parents are lifelong hippies and want me to do something at the back of their joint and to tell you the truth im starting to get an itch. the problem is though the council laws etc..........if it was up to me i would just get the electricity and plumbing sorted then plonk down a shipping container or 2 or 3 then encase the shipping containers in large limestone blocks, if i needed windows i would just get a large brick cutter in grinder whatever, dig myself a few undergound tunnels and seems like ill mudbrick in a games room or extensions.

its the planning that does my head in, surely in this day and age you can still work as you go right (i know im wrong) seems like you have no option but to buy one of those generic dale alcock homes from some lame high school graduates lame scketch pad.
