    Aussie hip-hop

While the topic has slightly gone off topic into international hiphop groups I gotta say Ozimatli are awesome and I remember hearing some French HipHop a few years back on jjj. The song was Sex, Alcohol et Accordeon (??) by this fella called Java. I dunno who it's by but the 'we're unemployed' song always puts a smile on my face - I get that nice warm feeling of solidarity with my fellow bums. I've only ever seen the Herd twice and Hilltop Hoods once but I gotta say I really dig the whole aus-hiphop scene - Not a big Hiphop fan usually (at least most of the American crap shits me) but the aussie stuff is great!

just thought I'd revive this thread to see if any SA-ians have had any luck? it's rained a bit recently but probably not enough. Luckily though the weather is still quite warm and getting more humid it seems.

    Beksinski

It's bullshit that he got murdered during a house robbery. Very sad story - 1st his son committed suicide (as I recall) and then he got killed in a random attack. Kinda fitting though when you look at his artwork. I'd compare his work more to H.R Giger but where Gigers' work is mostly monochromatic Beksinski used some very rich colours. And somehow his works seem to trigger a deeper response (in me at least) than many other artists, just that eerie, uncomfortable, disturbing surrealist feeling - you know the one, Like a freaky nightmare.
  5. Argh I'm so pissed off! I had a chance at contributing to this when it was still in the making - but I didn't. Then when the hundreds of times this gets posted somewhere I'd feel my ego grow and Grow! hehe. It's not really the same thing but the idea was more or less taken from http://tiles.ice.org - that being the collaborative artwork idea. Pretty awesome piece I must Say. It looks weird when u zoom through it because obviously it'd be too hard to have the real perspective shfting of the 3d objects so instead it looks like a weird pinching/expanding sort of material. -umm capisci?

That's cool I can find season 2 of carnivale without any problem. But season 1 on the other hand... It's just that I missed all but one episode of season 1 and I want to see that before season 2 starts.

    Solutions to the problem

I remember Huxley was a firm believer that only an itellectual elite should use psychedelics - im sure he realised they could be used for great things and also easily misused by dumb people - they are indeed very strong substances. Leary as we all know wanted to turn the world on and wanted everyone to experience psychedelics. I'm not sure what is better. Sure if only intelligent and responsible people use psychedelics there will surely be less problems about people doing stupid shit. But then the rest of the world misses out. As it is now, psychedelics are a very niche(sp?) market. Pretty much No Dealers sell acid or mushrooms. It's just the party drugs like mdma and the nasty shit like amphetamines (and pot of course). So now it is only the very devoted followers that search out psychedelic substances and the 'lay' people stick to pot etc... This is in a way what Huxley wanted. It is us that are very interested in psychedelics that tend to research them and be knowledgeable about them - hence more responsible with them. This is in contrast to the 60's acid explosion. The only sad thing is that substances like acid are unobtainable now to many who are seeking it. I believe that psychedelics should be available to all thos who seek them but not peddled to those that never heard of them. - (Of course turning on a friend to psychedelics can be great but then you know if they can handle it etc...). On the other hand if the 60's explosion were to return and we were again flooded by an acid wave surely there will be negative consequences due to irresponsible people (and psychedelics will once again get a bad rep. - its real bad as it is anyhow) but with so many people 'turned on' there could be great benefits to our 'mental evolution' as a species... I hope. Kindof ignoring the legal issues here just focusing on what effect easily obtainable psychedelics would have. This could be either legally or through the underground.

White House intervenes in ayahuasca case

It seems you are making the destinction between narcotic and entheogen/religious sacrament - where obviously our friend gonzales is not. In the eyes of the law anything apart from the legal intoxicants and other medications that in any way is psycho-active is a narcotic - regardless of the psycho-active effect.

might b a stupid qustion but...

No one was interested because it would be hopeless - but I'm just an apathetic shmuck. I mean really once a substance or plant becomes illegal - a bunch of hippies/druggies/stoners (insert other stereotypical label) winging about it won't change anything. IMO It's silly for any plant to be illegal.

Pan (cope) cyans 'blue meanies' in south oz

I have no idea about Cyans. That is some reasuring news that your friends have found them. I've never found Subs at Kuitpo myself. Best luck I've had was at Second Valley and Mount Crawford (a friend of mine found the biggest patch i have ever seen over there). Subs were first found (near/at) Cleland conservation park if I'm not mistaken, so Mt. Lofty area might be worth checking out.

    Solutions to the problem

Hehe this reminds me a bit of a dream where I went to coles up to the meat and fish section and ordered a few kilos of fresh mushies - and i mean real big fuckers too! :D haha it was funny.
  15. Didn't they end up reversing this decision?

For Subs I'd say after june-ish is the best time (from memory) You could probably find some in May even. I think September is much too late. For some reason it seems (from one seasons experience) that earlier on they flush in eucalypt mulch more and then later on in pine - You can usually find them in woodchips in carparks and the like - The reason for the abundance of subs in melbourne is partly due to the common use of woodchips. As for Cyans I think the last recorded find was 1979-ish!!! :D haha. I'll still be on the lookout though, just gotta find some good cow fields.

    Smurf Trips??????

haha yeah i heard heaps about smurf trips back in the day, and even something recently. I also heard the story about someone getting real paranoid when a cop pulled him over or something and he tried to hide under the white stripe on the road - but supposedly this fella was on mushies? -not 'smurfs'. I see these rumours circulate around a lot. I don't know why being as small as a smurf would allow you to peal the white paint off the road and hide under it though.

Tough new shroom laws in the UK

Latham was great as an attacking front bencher. He had the balls to call Howard an arse licker and calling Bush the most dangerous man in the world (or stupid?). Once he became opposition leader he had to compromise on his true beliefs. He just wasn't an appropriate leader and it's a shame that he took up that position as it ultimately lead to his resignation from politics all together. I believe he'd still be a great man for the attack.

    Abortion yes or no ?

hehe re: late term abortion. Cartmans mum on southpark wanted to abort her 8 ear old child! :D On a serious note, i think the common consensus here is that if the child cannot be cared for or is unwanted it is better that they kill the unconscious fetus before birth. I agree with that. Okay we never know when a fetus is a human being or not, but regardless i think there is no real ethical issue here at all as im sure even if it has some sort of consciousness at the time of abortion it would be very limited. I don't know much about abortions but would the process be at all painful to the fetus? If it is a quick death then there is no moral issue at all IMO. Haha people are all for the death penalty, having someone suffer smelling the burning flesh of his prison mates for months before his actual killing where he can shake around a bit in excrutiating pain on that nice comfy chair, but are totally against killing the unconscious child of a rape victim. ...makes sense. Apart from the fact the person may actually be innocent the Death Penalty is an extremely archaic , primitive penalty. Besides a guilty person would suffer with the repercussions of his crime for the rest of his life if he had life imprisonment instead, if getting revenge is what this is all about... - but I digress.

Tough new shroom laws in the UK

Magic mushrooms being legal in england had nothing to do with the government being 'progressive' it was just a legal loophole. To be honest I'm suprised it took them this long to introduce the Bill. Like reville said though, it won't make much of a difference now (except for maybe more variable price and quality). They have now made a lasting impact and will continue to circulate around in the black market. - Not to mention the abundance of wild mushies that grow in that climate. Perhaps this new acceptance of mushrooms will help catalyse this global shift in consciousness we all desire. Like the original Brothers of Eternal Love believed (I think Tim Scully the chemist said this) that if enough ppl are dosed there will be a change for the better, psychedelics allow one to cut through all the hypocrisy and bullshit and can create a positive change to our planet. -I was looking for a good quote at Brotherhood of Eternal Love but it's too much reading to find that one specific quote. I suggest anyone interested check it out, it's a good read.
