    Ritalin substitute

Amulte, I agree with you that Ritalin can be evil. I've been on Ritalin for about 7 years, and I'm 22 now. For the first couple of years, I didn't get much of a comedown unless I was taking a lot of it, and always had some euphoria. Nowadays, no euphoria and always have a come down even on small amounts. Apparently I have ADD, so I have been using it for concentration, but I have found that helping with that has decreased. Also, its of almost no use if there is no motivation to do something in the first place, ie. studying, etc. Now that I have finished my course, I'm over the moon that I won't need to take it anymore, hopefully. Also, there has been more than one report of children that have died from heart problems, directly attributed to ritalin use. Kinda makes me want to get my heart checked out. But its probably the same for all stimulants. Cheers, Jon

    Revenge?

When an antelope is doing it's thing and is taken by a lion doing it's thing, the lion should not be punished. I think the same goes for when people are doing their thing. I have often heard reports of crocodiles being hunted down and killed when they have taken a person (both doing their thing) and I think this is unfair. However, I also believe in capital punishment, of cold-blooded murderers of who there is no doubt that they are guilty.

    Police Radar Detection

I don't think that they can detect if you are using one or not. This would only be possible if it was emitting some kind of signal, ie. transmitting something, which I highly doubt for a "detector." As for the legality, they're probably illegal to use, but I'm not certain on this. Could be like musical airhorns, legal to buy, legal to own, but illegal to use in your car. EDIT: Let us know how it goes if you try it. I was wondering a while ago if old one's would still work or perhaps the police are using different radar frequencies now... [ 21. Superglued Grafts?

I have seen in the plant section of the hardware store they have "grafting glue." Anyone used or seen this? Perhaps this be safer than using superglue as it would be designed to be used on open plant wounds. Only one way to find out.

oh FUCK YEAH! we are going to thailand :)

Nepal is an amazing place, I trekked in and around the Annapurna Sanctuary in January and I had the most fantastic time although with the situations they have at the moment, it may not be accessible. Congrats on scoring the free trip, I also won a free return ticket to Bangkok which i am using at the end of June. Jon

    Trich pach damage?

Fluoro lights are not the way to go with mature cacti. For seedlings they're fine, but yours will need sunlight, or if artificial something more powerful such as HPS. The yellowing could be due to lack of sunlight or a deficiency, probably nitrogen. You could use a good fertiliser with trace elements, but not too strong otherwise this will be bad for its health. Red stuff

I've had red stuff like that before, and the graft has worked perfectly. I wouldn't worry about it just yet, see how it goes for a week at least. I've had grafts that lift off after less than a week due to the stock warping, but the vascular bundle connected and the graft still went fine.

    Pereskiopsis

My latest grafting experiment with Pereskiopsis has proven highly successful, and I now have a limited supply of plants, rooted and unrooted cuttings. PM me for details if you're interested. I also have rooted Sceletium emarcidum plants and unrooted Aptenia cordifolia available. Jon

    Home made Green house -

My glasshouse was purchased via the trading post, for about $300. New, this model is about $2000. Some glass was missing or broken, and as it was a "lean to" setup, an extra solid wall was constructed. The whole thing costed about $400 in the end. Even though I live in Victoria, shade cloth (included with mine) and white wash for some of the glass is a must, as my cacti/tropicals WILL burn. If you're thinking about making your own using plastic, make sure that it is durable over time against UV light, otherwise it'll just disintegrate. Cheers, Jon

    euphorbia horror

Wow Vanda, glad to see you've still got your eyesight. Your experience prompted me to do a little more research on the topic; I had no idea how dangerous it is. It's lucky for me to learn this prior to propagating a bunch of offsets from one of mine. Jon
