Edith, I don't know about Trichs, but cereus fruit turn red and split when ready. ferret, many thanks for the pollen, arrived just in time, flower opened this arvo. pm me if you want some scop pollen in return. So rev, i've done the scop x bridg cross, will see if it takes. Is there a right time to cross pollinate? should you do it straight away once the flower is open, or will it be receptive later, like later at night or early morn?

Just collected some pollen from my first flower, pm if you want some. I will post yours off tmo dodie.

I had one last week and 1/2hr later had a beer and wondered what was wrong with it, was like sguar water and this is normally a bitter beer, coopers sparkling ale. So it also turns bitter things sweet. My plant is just starting to flower and fruit. evidently there's a large miracle fruit, but it doesn't have the same properties, its a different Synsepalum species.

Thanks Bacchant, I wasn't thinking of buying, just seeing if they sold good stuff or the usual crap. As you say, opinions vary, they might be someone's favourite brand

Amulte's right, we would need a positive ID to work out if it is a bacteria or fungus, maybe rev could culture it? Overhead watering and water splash from pot to pot seem to aggrevate it and spread it.

We sell Chinese Licorice plants, Glycyrrhiza uralensis. The G. glabra herb should be available from most health foods stores (?). Chinese Licorice

Safe mozzie killer to add to water
Happy Cadaver replied to Agamemnon's topic in Australian Native Plants
you may have to change the oil once a fortnight or earlier if it goes a bit rank, remember to make it thick enough so the larvae can't stick their nose through to breathe. A more simple trick I thought of would be just to change the water every week, get the larvae just before they take off -
Safe mozzie killer to add to water

I heard about Splianthes being used to kill mosquito larvae, Spilantol is sposed to be a good insecticide. I tried it and it didn't seem to work. Tobacco leaves, perhaps chilli? Oil on the water surface should work, try an extra virgin olive oil, organic -
Yes, the new forum has my seal of approval, however vague that is ^_^ i'm not worried cause I know that one day we will log on and there will be a shining new logo to replace the IPB ad, something like....

No, nothing yet I'm pretty sure what I found is Zornia dyctiocarpa, not diphylla, so I'm not sure about that one. Will do some more research. I will have diphylla material in a few months once my plants are big enough.

Let us know how you go if you do order, preferably how many years you get Mate, please use the search engine and check out subjects related to the importation (Australia) of the materials you mentioned.

Did you find any variation in flower colour, etc with the seedlings?

I came across this cute sensitive plant recently, wondering what it was and found a pic to id it today. its really sensitive like mimosa pudica but has no thorns and has yellow flowers. Anyone have refs of what it may contain? I'll have seeds shortly.

what's the myth? That Desfontainia contains scopolamine?

I can post the following from Ratsch about kinnikinnick. The basic ingredient is bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), I don't know if you can get this out here or if it is quarantine restricted. The smoking blend sagackhomi consists of equal parts tobacco and bearberry. The ceremonial pipe tobacco of the Blackfeet contains equal parts wild tobacco (Nicotiana attenuata) and sweetgrass (Hierochloe odorata). a popular ritual blend, blackberry leaf (rubus sp) califonian poppy, catnip, comfrey leaf, mullein, raspberry leaf, spearmint and virginia strawberry leaf. no mention of quantities. another one, equal parts damiana, lobelia inflata, passiflora incarnata and mentha aquatica. it seems they used a lot of stuff for their smoking blends, not necessarily active ingredients on their own but thru the blending they were active. datura is a large part of many mixes.

did you grow the seedlings from seed you collected, or did they pop up in the pot around the motherplant? I had some little shoots pop up too (around motherplant) and thought they were seedlings, but they were actually root suckers.

community chemical testing setup thing

I just never got around to instigating it... oh well for bodo. -
yep that's the one we collected in Cairns rev. The closest thing i could find to it was Turnera ulmifolia var. subulata. I'm guessing someone has created a few varieties because of its ornamental value, they're pretty awesome flowers. I have a pic of another Turnera from Germany BG, I think angustifolia, it had that weird smell too. do you have a pic of that turnera you found rev?

perhaps a slight sense of well being, i had a slight headache before and now its gone. It has a hairy, mucilaginous taste. Not bad, would need more work as you say. We used to have heaps of bees and night moths so I don't know, I reckon it needs cross-pollination, all these plants are clones. Good luck though!

i've only found one seed pod on heaps of plants, best to separate any suckers that come up. Seeds look like the damiana ones u find in bags of herb, little kidneys. Probably a tincture would be good. I think i may go out and chew a leaf ^_^

They will tend to die down in winter, they have a really great root system, so much so that you may find it popping up out of your garden bed, etc as they do have a great ability to sucker. Tantra made a post a year or so ago and he found it to be as good in effect to Turnera diffusa for him. I reckon its got a wierd smell but you've got a fair bit of experience with real damiana so know what to look for. The flowers are probably the same, maybe nicer to eat....

LOL, I'll harvest some today and give it a try. I wonder what time of day to harvest? The cows seem to know...

plants of the gods mentions latifolia and then starts on diphylla here's some pics I took today. I noticed there may be other species in australia, so I'll do some research and see which it is. I have latifolia seeds anyway, plus some proper id'd diphylla seedlings.
