cool, thanks people. i just brought some seed packets from a nusersy, i got the "blaze of fire" variety and a blue salvia. does anybody know if these nursery varieties are active in any way? if so, could somebody list the varieties hey know or suspect to be active? im just growing these as practice/expeimental plants until i can work out what works best here.

    Pedro death?

actually electro is right, i study psycopharmacology as part of my degree. mescaline acts on serotonin, as can amphetamines, ecstacy is a good example. there is a state called serotonin syndrome, which can be facilitated by moving around too much of the stuff. this can occur when you mix ssri's with other anti-depressants or our good friend mescaline. there are many instances in which this could occur but this is a good enough example for us. from memory the serotonin floods the post-synaptic cleft and because there is so much it has difficulty being process and reuptake is made difficult, leaving you with all kinds of nasty side effects. also gomoas, im sure there havent been any pedro "od's" as such, but im sure some people have done some stupid things and killed themsevles while tripping. that is the nature of humans, they are stupid at points. anyway, the good news is the pedro didnt die, al this rain we've been having spurred a new little pup. so hooray!

    mugwort & wormwood

i use metho. it does the job if youre careful enough and its cheap enough to boot. i wouldnt recommend it for the smell though. you have to work with all the doors and windows open, an fans on. but if youre going to do this you should be doing all that anyhow.

    Nine Inch Nails and Absinthe

well gomaos, i dont ithnk its that hes ending up like them...but you can really hear the influence theyve had on him. i dont wanna point it out to everyone though, but whilst trent is somewhat of a geius, he has ripped a heap of people off in the past. im a huge fan, dont get me wrong, but "a warm place" is an old bowie song. not is a rip off of, IS an old bowie song, which i will find the name of. most of his song titles are similar or the same as joydivision song titles..the list goes on.-/ that doesnt stop me loving nin though

    Bill Hicks

yeah, bill definately told it as it is. i can trade for those mp3s chris. if you want a bootleg i have one called "i'm sorry folks". i cant remember the date on it, but i tihnk its 92. my personal favorite bill moments are those where he does his beast noises, like that bit on sane man where he flies off the handle talking about dick clark being satan. those are great.

    Bill Hicks

i'm assuming that this is a forum full of people with their third eyes "squeegeed open". so i will also assume that there are many here familiar with the work of bill hicks. has anybody got any cds or bootlegs theyd be willing to distribute?

    japanese cinema classics

heheh, i love anime, its great. has anyone seen the burn-up series, either burn-up w or burn-up excess? those are great, hilarious. i also have this awesome movie called zeram where this bizarre looking alien comes to earth and terrorises the streets of tokyo, the only ones who can stop it are a pretty young bounty hunter and a couple of nerdy electricians. but then again, that could be the plot for every japanese movie ever made.

    Nine Inch Nails and Absinthe

thats cool man. i myself never got into van halen. i can understand it, and i think hes an awesome guitarist, but i just dont dig it. im into anytihng related to devin townsend though, he's the only one i know that can get away with cheesy 80s elements. anyone going to see strapping when they come down?

actually mescalito i just noticed you liked sabbath. i would like to go on record as saying black sabbath are possibly the greatest band ever.

actually, there has been some stuff since "things falling apart". there was of course the aforementioned live dvd, which came with a live cd. the cool thing is though, the cd came with an optional bonus disc called "still", which was live performances of basically trent with a piano, and occasionally acoustic guitar and drum backing. it was all rearrangements of old songs like "something i can never have" and "the becoming". in essence it was quite beautiful. moving. there were some new very un-nin tracks on there too which show trents move towards his joy division/new order influences. if they weren't obvious already. the other day i bought myself the "live at pompeii: directors cut" dvd from pink floyd. that kicks a lot of arse. as does the "live volume" dvd from corrosion of conformity.

    Pedro death?

actually i have a couple of smaller cacti that aren't active i keep in order to make my san pedro look legit that are getting really sunburnt. the thing is i've had them longer than the pedro and all of them are in the same spot, but the pedro is unaffected, as is another larger cactus. so maybe smaller cacti aren't as tough?

    Salvia and growing from seed.

actually it was s. coccinea. but nothing really took off. i was surprised actually when i only got 4/20 morning glory seeds to take. generally speaking i've had bugger all luck growing anytihng from seed, i suspect i overwater. -/ thats strange about the brugmansia torsten. what would you describe the ideal conditions for brugmansia or any seed as?

    Nine Inch Nails and Absinthe

yeah it is pretty cool. i remember hearing that song for the first time and thinking "this is the greatest song ever"...well it was more like "fuckin ey!" but you get the idea. the programming in it still awesome today...but when i saw the video it melted me. it was so gosh darn cool. and thats what turned me on to absinth. it also made realise how freaky the victorian era was. but yes, nails is good. its nice to see someone with excellent tastes in music for a change. there arent many people around like that anymore.
