    Queensland Acacias

Hey Guys! Just helping out a friend who lives near Brisbane. He's wondering what active acacias he could scout close to or in his area. I suggested Maidenii but know from experience it's activity is sparse. Any knowledge greatly appreciated. <3

So in case anyone forgot my question, I'm just wondering what active acacias are in the greater Brisbane region. Maybe some one from the area has some helpful ideas? Cheers

    Queensland Acacias

It's a simple question, if you don't want to help - don't reply. He's knew to the scene and is simply looking for a little guidance. I have done my research and I have made my gains, I lack very little knowledge but I just don't have time to research for someone else especially when one of my fellow brothers already has the information. Is there anyone out there who understands freedom? If so, looking forward to your reply..

Ello yellow I've heard the alkaloid content of this species fluctuates throughout the year and was hoping someone could let me know when it is at its highest.. Thanks in advance!

    Acacia Acuminata

I realise acuminata is native to WA, but I've read odd post here and there around the interweb stating finds in vic/nsw. Was hoping someone could clear this up, does it only grow in WA? Thanks

    Acacia Acuminata

Cool thanks, I'll assume no knowledge is available from people who have previously tested burkittii. I also heard Wimmera supposedly harbors acuminata (?)

  19. Hey Well went out to the blue mountains today and after a few hours of searching I'm 90% sure we found the right tree, sorry for the quality of the pics but I hope you can get the idea. If you look closely you can see little buds sprouting out which to me would suggest its getting ready to flower for the dec/jan time which obtus usually flowers in, the leafs were quite thick, the margins were rough and there were usually around 2-3 main veins. Any help greatly appreciated. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30674525@N07/

    Acacia Identification pt.2

Well Im not sure about you guys but it took me around 7 months to find the tree and 4 extraction attempts with the wrong tree. I love hunting around the bush and It was allot of fun at the start but after many expeditions and bushing bashing adventures I just wanted to find it, as each spot we had to search was hours away.

No I would definietly say making it is half the fun, finding them is an utter pain in the ass.

    Acacia Identification pt.2

Yea really, have you actually been successful in finding any? Cause those things aren't always correct...

    Acacia Identification pt.2

thanks, ye they seemed quite narrow.. for future reference is the blue mountains the best place to look, or should we try some other region (for fuller older trees) - we had thought about around the illawarra area.
