I thought I should introduce myself. This is Tobydoo's wife. I finally decided I shouldn't post under his log on any more. I tried to make it clear when I wrote under his name, but I fear I may have caused some confusion. So......... now those who think he has multiple personalities can tell when it is me writing instead of Jeckle and Hide. I do appologize for any inconvenience it may have caused.
I have been keeping up on reading the post, but haven't been inclined to respond yet. I have been waiting to find out about the situation that Tobydoo has telling you about. Unfortunately, no real news yet. They went yesturday morning to find out if there was enough evidence to hold him to the charges. They found there was, but now he goes back to court on 04/24/07 to answer the charges.
I'm sitting here debating on how much I want to explain all that has happened so it makes more sense.....
I guess the best way is to attempt to make a long story as short as possible.
Ok, be patient with me.....Here it goes
3 years ago my daughter (10 years old at the time) was spending the night at her best friends house. Mind you they have known each other since they were babies. My daughter and her friend witnessed my daughters friends dad having sex with his step-daughter. They heard noises and peeked through louvers into the bedroom door.
Needless to say my daughter came home that night and told my husband and I what happened. I want you to know we live in a small town and I have known both the other parents for over 20 years. I was shocked, as you can imagine.
After about 2 hours of talking about the situation, we decided she needed to go to the police and tell them what she saw and heard. The police did an investigation and found enough evidence to convict him. There was DNA evidence and all. This man had started "preping" his step daughter from the time she was 6 years old. He was getting/giving oral sex by the time she was 10. He began having incoarse with her when she turned 12. He didn't get caught until the girl was 16. This girl now has serious emotional issues. This guy had even convinced her that when she turned 18 he was going to divorce her mom and marry her.
Ok, so that is the basics, now for what was to follow. While the police were investigating, someone confronted the guy. He left work immediately and told his wife what the person said and asked her to kick my butt for starting all these lies.......
Well, his wife decided istead she would tell him she was going to talk to me, she left the house and called the police. They brought her in for questioning and then called me to bring my daughter back in a second time to be questioned. I don't know how many of you have 10 year old girls, but that is a very hard thing for them to talk about at all, even worse for them to have to tell a big guy in a uniform.
They arrested him and we were all given permanent restraining orders that stated he wasn't to come within 900 feet of any of us, our homes, or our places of employment.
But get this...... He was convicted and placed in a motel for convicts and allowed to go to work everyday. In order for him to get to his place of employment he was allowed to drive only 1 block from our house.
He was to spend 12 years in this place as long as he followed the conditions of his work release. Now only 6 months after he began doing he time, he lost his job. The ironic thing about that is how he lost his job. He called a woman he worked with a "cunt" because she told him he wasn't supposed to be outside of the building washing his truck. See, he had on an ankle bracelet and the authorities were also supposed to be monitoring were he was at all times. The place he worked also had doors that you need an elctronic id card to get in and out of. There was a loading dock that didn't have one and he figured out he could go outside undetected. My point in explaining this is that we were all reassured that there was no way he could get around the precautions they set up and he couldn't hurt anyone involved.
So even though he lost his job which would have broke his conditions, he was allowed to find another job and continue with the work release program.
In the mean time he was now on such "good" behavior he was recieving time off passes. During these time off passes and was able stay with his parents and go to the store and pretty much what ever he felt like doing.
So after feeling brave he begans asking kids about his now ex-wife (yes, she divorced him) and then he got really brave and decided to call the step-daughter at her job. So now he is facing 2 felony charges for breaking the restraining orders. I can tell you that it was made very clear to him and to all of us by the judge that he wasn't to contact anyone involved directly or through anyone else, and if he did, he was looking at doing 24 years hard time.
He was given a lienient sentence because he had no prior record, but with very strict conditions. He has managed to break the conditions on several occasions and yet still remains out of jail. He is now in a halfway house, working, and living somewhat normal. The only jail time he has done has been less than 10 days as both times he was arrested his parents paid his bail.
I worry every day that he will retaliate against my daughter as he knows she is the one who "busted" him in the act. And I worry how much more he will torture the poor girl he molested. The rest of the family moved out of this town, but who knows what he will do when he finds out where they are living. So as far as the laws here go, I don't have much confidence in them. They don't seem to care that he is asking about them and what he is capable of. All I know is that I have to worry about letting my daughter go outside to play because they keep allowing him the freedom to go where he pleases in this town. I personally would feel much safer if they would keep him off the streets and at the very least let me know when he is allowed to be in this town for his weekend family visits. Atleast then I know when I can let my daughter go to the park and when to keep her by myside.
Sorry this was soooo long, I will try and keep them shorter now, but I thought I should atleast give you the basics.
