  1. Fuck man, what is this avatar you have? I suppose you are greek from the "eleftheria i thanatos" in the signature - and live in Melbourne, right? Please explain this: haw can you be pro-communist and have such an avatar, a symbol of greek extreme nationalist fuckheads ? You [rightly so] bash the anti-cuban propaganda but you have digested all the anti-turkish propaganda of greek nationalism?

[if it all sounds ... grekk to you, explanation follows: the avatar depicts an eagle tearing a Turkish flag apart - in the background is the greek flag. yes, you guessed right, only the most extreme nationalists [from the extreme right to neo-nazis] would use such a symbol. Of course I cannot deny the possibility of extreme stupidity as well....

Well any comments, greekman from Melbourne?

  2. If you are harvesting leaves from ANY plant, you do it while they are alive and healthy.

If you wait till the leaves die, they will have nothing active in them.

Well that's not exactly true with ANY plant. Salvia divinorum leaves, which of course is illegal in any form in Australia but legal almost everywhere else, are usually gathered when they die/dry/fall off, even though I am not really sure they don't loose some of their potency...

  3. The G. spectabilis growing on the east coast of the USA are often active while those on the west coast are not generally known for activity.

I know a number of mycologists are trying to nail this one down, whether it is active or not. Do you have further info corroborating this.

If it says something, I have heard americans say this in other forums as well....

  4. Just a note

If you seriously want to try tripping on tropanes, In my long passed experinace the best way to go about it is with Avil sea/motion sickness tablets which contain Hyoscine hydrobromide.

hyoscine = scopolamine // hyoscyamine is another tropane alkaloid

Moreover, going for a delirium is not necessarily what one would want in his first or any experience with these substances, even though the delirium is what tropanes are infamous for.

  5. I have been growing some Brugmansias started from cuttings.

Well the first four ones come from cuttings from the same mother plant:

    dscn1042hi9.th.jpg

    dscn1859rt2.th.jpg

    flowering took place in august/september

    =======================

Second one was started more recently from a pretty big cutting from a yellow-flowered tree. I also have one more from the same mother plant in a big pot - both are currently forming a flower each - quite different 'sheath' [narrower from my white ones] from what I have seen so far.

From what I understand, the yellow ones must be a different species/hybrid, mainly because of the more intensely toothed leaves and also the the very bigger size of their leaves. Here's a photo of the biggest one.

    dscn1896bo1.th.jpg

    =======================

I also have some pink ones growing [also stared from cuttings], not a sign of a flower yet, but the pink ones resemble more my white ones, even though their leaves might also be somewhat more toothed.

Will be posting more photos - thanks in advance for any help :)

  6. Great photos by all contributors!

I am growing D.stramonium and D.inoxia, also Hyoscyamus niger and H.alba but these are all young now. How big containers do you thing are required for daturas to develop enough for them to flower? I might also be given some D.metel, for which I look forward!

I also have been growing three types of Brugmansia from cuttings [white, yellow and pink], but I have no idea what they are... But this is not thraed for Brugs anyway :)

  7. I also got something like seed pod that looks like that in whit3rabbit's photo, from what I can see, where a flower used to be but it doesn't really seem to evolve fast. In my occasion though, there were 3-4 small plants that flowered simulataneously. Here are my plants.

    dscn1042hi9.th.jpg

    dscn1859rt2.th.jpg

Note that all plants are from cuttings of the same mother plant...

  8. Just a note: Brugmansia and Datura flowers are atropine rich, which is not so wanted compared to scopolamine. Both are poisonous, but scopolamine causes the more 'desired' effects, compared to atropine which seems to produce mostly unwanted bodyload / unpleasant effects. Even more, Mandrake and Hyoscyamus have the additional agent Hysoscyamine which is also poisonous and similar to scopolamine and atropine, but relatively preferable, if some could find the tropane plants effects 'wanted'.

The anti-nausea pills of the market usually contain scopolamine, not atropine.

What I imply is that if one intends to work with such a dangerous plant such as datura/brugmansia, it might be preferable to choose another plant part, not flowers.

  9. Thanx for replies! Actually it came out of the soil pretty easily - even though the baby leaves are somewhat curled. Photo taken it's first day, today - yesterday the baby leaves were still in the soil. Actually I had somewhat nicked and soaked all seeds before sowing... I hope it's the Psychotria :)

mescalito, please post some baby pics if you can!

    dscn1914ib2.th.jpg

  10. Hello!

I know Psychotria viridis is supposed to be pretty difficult seed to vegetate. It looks my second attempt worked - I am still afraid it might be something that was in the soil [soil was bought flower soil, first time used, minimally exposed to enviroment] as it happened with a weed I grew & mistook for a catha edulis [that didn't vegetate] and got a disppointment at the end.

Has anyone grown the plant from seed or has experience with other psychotrias? If I post a photo is it possible that someone can confirm or encourage me that my baby seems to be the wanted one?

edit: I edited the title as it comes that my plant is propably no Psychotria

  11. I cannot believe that people take Hawk seriously. Still I have seen people in forums that do {amazing! , or just blurred sense of reality / a tendency to believe in any kind of enlightment/claim? ]. Hawk deserves to be referenced as one of the most idiotic sites on psychoactives. I don't know if he is a fraud or just 'crazy', propably both.

Hawk IS himself a 'vendor' - he just doesn't sell the material. He sells his knowledge on DVD and book, he sells his self proclaimed enlightment, he sells sessions with Amanitas [that is, IF you buy the book and DVD and make a huge depositin his bank acount], T-shirts, posters etc.

There is one other thing about Hawk, though, which isn't enjoyed as often as it should. Read his site like you would read a series of really funny jokes. It gived the read another dimention! I even found somewhere his DVD. A treat!

i'm totally not bothering to read all of that argument...i gave up after a page. have fun in there.

Your loss. The are many diamonds in the pile :)

  12. Cool! I remember your post. It wasn't recent, I sent you an PM but didnt; have reply. This guy has written a great review in Erowid as well, it's propably older.

Hey, Vert, I hope I didn't say something that bothered you. I kind-of like you... :) , although I admit I understand little of your post.. you australians have pretty special slang.

    Here it is

    Tonic

    Amanita muscaria

    by Eugene

DOSE : oral Amanitas - A. muscaria (plant material)

: i disagree strongly with the person who says these amanita muscaria

: mushrooms did nothing and were not worthwhile i have had first hand

: experience with these mushrooms and would strongly urge caution in even

: picking them, these are hardcore poisons, and serious hallucinogens. do

: not take theses mushrooms lightly as they will kill you if you do not

: know what your doing with them. this is no joke.

Nonsense! I have around 30 pounds of Amanita Muscaria sitting in my freezer right now. They were first cleaned, then dipped in brandy to preserve them. I eat some nearly every day, they have an extraordinaryly rich and subtle flavor, they taste wonderful. I usually eat about 2 tablespoons per meal, maximum around 4, and I can tolerate up to about 8 tablespoons a day. Fly Shroom is roughly as toxic (when potent) as coffee. Are you afraid to handle green coffee beans because of concerns for caffeine poisoning? Fly Mushroom has roughly the same toxicity level. You could get pretty dire effects from eating a pound of A.M. , but I daresay the effects of eating a pound of coffee are equally dire!

Fly Mushroom seems to be too harsh (in large doses) for most people to use as an entheogen, but it makes a wonderful tonic when used in small amounts. It is especially welcome in cold weather. It warms you up, energizes you, and makes you feel cheerful. I know no finer tonic for seasonal depression or Christmas blues. If you have to work hard in severe winter weather, it combines very well with red ginseng. The major precaution is that it can potentiate medications whose primary effect is on the nervous system, so don't use it if you are taking this kind of pharmaceutical. Fly Shroom amplifies mood quite a bit, if you take it in trembling and dread, this mood will be amplified and you will feel sure that it is something truly demonic. Many cases of A.M. poisoning are really nothing more than amplified hysteria.

I have given it to a lot of people under relaxed conditions in food, and I have had consistantly positive results. Even when people say they feel nothing, they become much more cheerful and talkative. Your attitude reflects thousands of years of taboos against this mushroom. You are unable to undo the conditioning you inherited from the Collective Unconscious. As for me, I think Soma is one of Gaia's greatest gifts to us.

I have a passionate fondness for this mushroom! I don't use it as a psychedelic (too harsh), but it is an absolutely superb tonic. (used in modest amounts) I collect at least a dozen different types of wild mushrooms for food use, but this is my absolute favorite. You should cautiously test your reaction (like, try a teaspoon or so) before experimenting with my ideas.

I generally slice up about 2 tablespoons of fresh ( or FlyShroom preserved by dipping in brandy and freezing--it doesn't taste good dried) and sautee it in butter or olive oil. The most you should consume at any one time is about 4 tablespoons. If you feel nausea or dizzines (or hyper and nervous) reduce the dose to what you are comfortable with. You will get far better results using several divided small doses than one big dose. The flavor is exquisite and elegant (I think only the morel really compares) and a dish prepared with FlyShroom will quickly make you feel full--I think it has potential for dieting. FlyShroom also lends itself to as a flavoring agent to fine French and Italian food. It goes really well in rich sauces and with pasta. For a harmless flavor enhancing effect, add a teaspoon or so to a salad dressing or near the end of cooking to a rich savory dish.

Fly mushroom can be taken in food up to 4 times a day (don't overcook!) for a maximum dose of about half a cup. It has a potent warming/activating effect and is best used in the cooler months. If you suffer from cold weather or winter depression, I think you will find it a marvelous tonic remedy for such conditions. You can use FlyShroom in moderation continously for many days, and it will have a wholesome, invigorating tonic effect on mind and body (especially during cold weather). If you stop taking it suddenly, the effects will wear off gently in three days with no withdrawel or 'crash' type reactions. I have not experienced craving effects so I believe the habit-forming potential is low. FlyShroom combines very well with high-quality ginseng, and such a combination can give you great endurance if you face hard conditions.

FlyShroom has the potential to exaggerate the effects of drugs with strong central-nervous system effects, so it should not be used by people who are taking such medicines, especially drugs used to treat psychiatric conditions. There is no problem with using it with moderate amounts of coffee or wine; it adds considerable brightness to the 'zing' of caffeine and mellowness and euphoria to a glass of wine. The basic effect is a cheerful energy and a subtly expanded awareness that combines with a great sense of peacefulness. You feel self-confident, cheerful and serene. It seems to act primarily on the higher brain centers and is great for meditation and contemplation. There is often a subtle sense of tension in the muscles and a desire to do something physically active. At first, you may not be aware of the effect, but people around you will notice how much more talkative and happy you are than you were before. I have used Aminita Muscaria daily for months and have not experienced any tolerance effects. It seems to be wholesome and life-enhancing when used properly.

It is a real treat to read the Soma hymns of the 9th book of the Rig Veda under the influence of FlyShroom. I am convinced that this is the true Soma and not the heavy, leaden, sickliness of Syrian Rue. As it says in the Rig Veda, Soma is a good tonic for the ill. Taken when ill or tired, FlyShroom will act as a sedative/analgesic in a way that reminds me strikingly of codeine. If you take FlyShroom for the first time in the evening, it will act as a stimulant and may interfere with sleep. If you have been taking it during the day, a final dose will make you drowzy and usually give you wonderful vivid dreams. I usually wake up feeling healthy and refreshed the next day. If you push the dose to the maximum you can comfortably tolerate over a couple of days, you will feel a very definite but pleasant sense of intoxication. Vision will be enhanced, especially at night, and you may see colorful visuals with your eyes closed, the images will look like they are encrusted with glowing gems.

Anyway, I think you can see why I am so passionately fond of the Mighty Amanita. I have shared it with a dozen people and nobody has experienced untoward or negative reactions. People who are into recreational drugs often say they feel nothing, but the change in their behavior is really striking. I have never used it in large doses, every time I tried increasing the dosage above a certain level, I get queasy and apprehensive, like the feeling you get when you are in an old house all alone and hear furtive noises. My family likes it, especially my sister and my mother. She also collects wild mushrooms, and will sometimes hide the FlyShrooms so I don't hog them all. Everybody I have given them to has treated them with respect, nobody has been tempted to OD on them.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree in obsessing with using them as a 'entheogen', if you try using them in moderation as a tonic, a whole new world will be opened to you. I think Amanita Muscaria is the positive-energy, 'heavenly' equivalent to the negative-energy, enslaving, 'inferenal' drug cocaine. Nobody thought the stuff was like LSD or 'Magic Mushrooms', but several did compare it to coke. I was concerned, and attempted to 'abuse' FlyShroom to test for signs of tolerance, craving, withdrawal symptoms and other signs of addiction potential. I am happy that neither I nor my collaborators found any! We do, though, have a great nostalgic fondness for the critter, and look forward to a good mushrooming year with gladsome anticipation.

I firmly believe that Soma (nothing else but Amanita Muscaria matches the Hymns) is one of Gaia's greatest gifts from the Northern Forests (when used with RESPECT!), I think its negative reputation results from people not using it with the imagination and respectful moderation that I have, instead trying unsuccessfully force it into being a substitute for the totally different Psilocybe mushrooms. Try my ideas and see for yourself...

  13. You are doing OK, Vert, keep it up!

    1) var. formosa is indeed supposed to be less potent.

    2) there is also some evidence that the samples earlier in the season, f.e. summer {august usually} are prefered, propably due to potency as well. This of course is very generic as potency varies according to many factors anyway. The muscarias in my area [south greece] fruit in October-November - very seldom is there a summer fruiting], but they don't seem to induce any muscarinic [muscarine] effects at all. I have read in some lycaeum article that the automn specimens have more muscarine-like efects, but europeans seem to be lucky on that. Any way, muscarias seem to be quite 'easy' mushroon, so it will grow in various habitats.

It really takes some good research to form some kind of opinion, but, hey, some things are quite clearer if you try to test this guy's [in the huge quote] ideas. I had reached the same conclusions before reading his opinions, just because because I was very careful and worked my way up.

    ===================

I'd be curious to know how the average "traditional Siberian" (any left?) would feel about Psilocybes... or why so many accounts of usage come from there , when the Fly's are found more or less worldwide? Questions, questions...

Now you're talking man! Some times less is more! This questions cannot really be touched by 'science' or any 'objective' form of investigation, but I am trying to answer [or play with, if you like] these questions myself. That is, I don't limit my thoughts in "Amanitas VS Psilo-shrooms".

My train of thought also includes various concepts. The majority thing isn't really so important for me as is what kind of people prefer the so called classic psychdelics to other psychdelics as dissociatives { I mean, yeah, they're more, but WHY? - is it only that 'classics' they're more enjoyable and visual} ?

Note that I place all classics [ergolines, phenethylamines and tryptamines] in the same class , and we can accept the other class having Salvia divinorum, ketamine, A.muscaria and other dissociatives. Better like that , no?

Link to the thread subject: Note that the above mentioned quote and also my own experience do not involve really dissociative experiences [with amanitas, that is], although there is some slight such character, especially arriving at a MID dose. My last experience with Amanitas which was my first bioessay of Amanita pantherina was a MID dose and in some point [it lasted about one minute or something] it reminded me of salvia space [yes, Salvia divinorum is also legal in Greece].

Well, you will find that for some people the classics are not so enjoyable always, or that they're somewhat prissy and fragile and sensitive experiences [regardless of the rewarding character they usually have and the characteristic extatic feelings and sensations they evoke].

The concept of fear and uneasiness felt by some is very varied and important as well. Interestingly enough, you might notice that many 'classics' enthusiasts are put off, scared, unnerved by dissociatives like salvia, and even from short-acting tryptamines smoking.

So to [over] simplify and conclude, there seem to be characteristics in character / personality of people that maybe cause the preferance to the one or other class - or, less clumpsy said, maybe there is something that makes each class more friendly to certain people for some reasons... What I am searching is the reasons, not that they are necessarily there, just beacuse I search for them!

The matter is more psychoanalytic [my cup of tea], philosophical, etc. This realm is no place for certainties, but mostly hypothesis, and yeah, it demand some objective and clear thought....

Any opinions?? [we're going a little off topic or is it just my impression?]

PS: BTW, for me, A.muscaria [and pantherina] are indeed flavor enhancers. I have read of others considering them as appetite supressors, while I have found the opposite. In any case, they surely effect the appetite/

  14. holy shitman im fuking broke, as soon as i have some money ill send ur free cactus to u okay.

ive got half away, just waitin for the next 50 buks i can spare to send the rest.....

its from lack of currency, not from lack of good will.

forgive me, u will get it as soon as i can afford to send it.

btw u havent paid for anything man so u will just hafta rely on my good will, , i.e giving them away, like i said.

i definately dont dislike u, why thehell are uworried about image man? eat some shrooms. i just dont know why u had to bring me into this??

i only got involved as vert needs a little help with his spelling, as i am an interleckshual. capeche?

think happy thoughts man and ur cactus will be there all the way over in greece.

Shit, mate, I am pretty sure that it's pretty obvious my last post was ironic/sarcastic. I just tried to ramble a bit, it seems to work around here, and it worked for you anyway ;) No worries. I didn't pay, sure, you offered ;)

I don't give a damn about images. I enjoy entering a forum and provoke people a bit just to see what psychedelic theists are on to, and spot the ones who are gonna be offended and question their psychedelic beliefs. Provokativ manners make it a lot faster some times...

No hurry for the cactus. I am currently building a structure for my vines to be able to climb on my house's roof, sowing new seeds, arranging plants in pots etc.

    ===============

    TO THE POINT:

    Hey,

    reshroomED,

where did you find that 'old post from usenet' ? I think I have read this guys opinions on Amanita mucaria twice more, once in Erowid, once in some guy's post in E-dot . I am trying to spot this guy for some time!

Nice link also about that lady that cooks Amanitas and also points out that the Amanita family has some of the most delicious edible mushrooms - but I doubt that muscaria taste will be any worth it after 2 or 3 boilings... it IS delicious , but if you wash it away.... you never know anyway...

  15. So if's I am getting this corrected, said you're problems having with my decisions personally, or writing stylised? no?

no problems with your decisions, stylish writing, obligations, time schedule.

it's just... I am never wrong.. I can never be wrong... even when I clearly admit my mistake - well, especially then..

Just making my point with fewer words than yours, mate, you already know that. Different style, no?

It's done, mutant. You said they werent really dangerous...

oh fuck! and... what do I do now... how do I make up for this? Shit! Now, what about my name in this forum and the global comunity... What about that cactus seedling Jono promised? I am very sad :( the aroma of your exrements on my feeling is very unpleasant... almost like the side-effects of psychoactive amanitas] My whole future is destroyd maaaaaaaaan

What about that link for Erowid? Can someone give an official reference for muscimol law in Australia? [you were right on this one... a get a bit lazy sometimes, well most of the times, especially if dealing with stuff [law] I don't really get passionate about... say.. like you and amanitas :P ] ..

Here I found that it's illegal , now you HAVE to tell me that link, or else I will tell everyone the chickenshit you are and are afraid to have a little fun on freshly harvested Amanita phalloides... Come on! Hawk from SomaShamans has done it , after he eliminated the toxins with his soma mumbo-jumbo ceremony :P

  16. hey Vert, nice you see you're behaviour is stupid...

fuck man, in my universe saying that hunting for psilocybes is pretty safe, while hunting for Amanita muscaria can be dangerous is a stupid , misleading and DANGEROUS statement.

Even if the psilies are recognised safely [and not some Galerina is picked instead, or some of the countless poisonous LBMs over the world] they bare dangers, mental ones, like every psychoactive. I never suggested that anyone should ingest anything. And you can be sure that I don't do it in my real life either.

I am not really in protecting any 'name' of Amanitas , but the thing is you're not really into 'why am I writing this'? Arguing to protect the newbs, huh? Do you even believe some newb would go through your dense ramblings? You could say what you said with a few words. Too long posts for something you know nothing about!

If you're afraid of the effects of Amanitas muscaria , let it be, don't be the usual psychedelic believer dick suggesting we should be after the safe psilies [or any of the classical psychedelics for that matter] instead of going for the 'dangerous' and unknown Amanita muscaria.

Bullshit. Amanita muscaria CAN be dangerous, as well as every substance. Danger, is relative, though...

Yeah, people usually like psilies more, so what? I just gave some personal experience and facts on the mushrooms that the thread title suggests, and I have thoroughly studied and bioessayed.

The tendency to find name variations of the same species of mushrooms is often a mycologist's game regarding mostly fame and void ambitions. The physical evolution explains the variations and slight differences in every organism. Amanita muscaria, whatever the var. , more or less carries the psychoactive properties of Amanita muscaria, ibotenic acid and muscimol. And it's the one mushroom that is more easily ID'd. Of course, idiocy is unlimited, so someone could make a mistake.

PS: Can someone give me some reference / citation / site about the legal status of muscimol in Australia, so that the erowid data is updated?

  17. OK, there is a big misunderstanding here. I regard this forum a forum of relatively high level of users and knowledge. It was my mistake that I used the genus name Amanita in general. In all my previous posts I was refering to Amanita muscaria, a very distinct in appearance mushroom that fruits all over the world. See link for more A.muscaria on Wiki

Some Amanitas are deadly toxic with toxins for which no antidote exists to day... Vertmorpheus took in kind of.. personally. We can share his enthusiasm. And .. go on...

Amanitas is one of the most interesting genus of mushrooms. Why? They contain some of the deadliest [infact, THE deadliest] species in the world {Amanita phalloides AKA death cap LINK and other white-capped Amanitas}, some of the most tasteful {Amanita ceasarea - a european species, Amanita rubescens} and the infamous psychoactive Amanitas, Amanita muscaria being the most known for its beauty alone.

The last groups consists of the aforementioned Amanita muscaria, and also A.pantherina a brown species, similar but smaller, which has a few look-alikes like the edible A.spissa[raw toxic], and some other, more rare.

Except from A.ceasarea, which is eaten raw by many in salads or on it's own, all edible Amanitas are toxic raw and have to be parboiled or cooked properly before eaten. In general it is a genus of high toxicity. The dangerous species like {A.phalloides} toxins are not destroyd by heating of cooking. Liver damage is almost certain and death is propable.

but hey, talking about muscarias, mate they sell them in every fuckin e-shop in the world - except from Autralia and maybe Israel. Amanita muscaria's chemistry is now fully understood. There have been many mistakes in A.muscaria research. in the past. Unfortunately, people who haven't really studied a lot, might even replicate the mistakes of the past. I don't blame them. It's not a simple matter.

Amanita muscaria and , even more, Amanita pantheria [much more potent than A.muscaria] are indeed a difficult material to work with, with long-lived shamanic or other use and many contradictions for the researcher to stumble on.

PS: It's really very hard for someone to die off A.muscaria. But if ingested for food, especially pantherina, by mistake then the surprise is going to be great. Imagine yourself thinking you have been poisoned by mushrooms on a substance that has been said that virtually amplifyies the emotions. Not a great time, huh? ingesting too much, even knowing their power is also often unnerving. A.pantherina is extremely potent some times. I have found that it can be more than 4 times as potent as A.muscaria , unlike 2x that I have read on the net.

PS2: What the fuck is "kefuffle" ??? B)
