'Chacruna ' false Psychotria viridis seed vegetated...

Bummer... I hope you're wrong.... the seeds were bought by a good US vendor... I am not sure if I am allowed to name him .... anyhow, I hope it's just an enviromental thing or my plant is just too young... Glad it's a Psychotria nevertheless... it being a carthaginensis would explain it endured the extremely hot/dry season with no problems....no? -
Heh, that was obviously ironic. ;)

Well, that sure sounds like an attempt at bribery, no?? How pathetic! 3 seeds?? I mean, c'mon!! I would be Ok with him being here if I got some 15-year old ariocarpus or something, but nothing less than that.... One thing should be said anyway: this guy has caused mass reactions in every forum I have stumbled upon him...

My turbinas are doing great too after all! I encouraged them to climb up the house and provide all the way up... I hope I also get flowers These at teh photo are actually two of them...

Thanks both mates Here are the photos of the pedro that has skinny base but has grown larger above... http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...25&start=25 I think I might go with this advise actually that's what I had thought in the first place.... as for the pup, hmmmm, I think it's bad news for it... it was propably accidentally watered and developed some black spots... since then [15 or so days] I have exposed it to a dry and bright place [it dehydrated quite a bit, but is still fleshy - propably a bad idea, but I feared for mould etc. if I tried to root it at once.... here it is... It is extremely hot around here, should I try the sock method to avoid getting the pup to get wet?? I still find it so funny to use a sock , that I really need to check this out Here the pup's mother...

As a tribute to jono, i should put some photos of the tricho he kindly sent... This is just when it arrived.... and this is now, after some 9 months...... I am not really sure what I should do with it, since the upper columns {see the tiny pup in the upper photo] have grown quite wide and heavy... Thanks to jono and to this wonderfull community for all the help to my questions Keep it up!

Hey, after some time, my "psychotria" has grown a bit.... here's a photo... I would love another confirmation if the ID was originally right, as well as any ideas about if I should change pot or what... it is currently very dry and hot here, it will be like that for 20 or 30 days... but it seems to be doing well... -
Hmmmm, so this pedro pup, a bit larger than a golf ball, which I poped out from my pedro has little chances to root??? Should I condider grafting ?? I actually decided to pop it out despite some friendly advice that it might be difficult to root, mainly because they were threee of them [pups] right next to each other and they started to touch and also to determine how small pups I would be able to root... Hmmm... I also have that other strain of pedro jono gave away sever months ago... I haven't yet decided how to handle it, since it has grown quite wide at the top, while being rather weak and thinny at the base, so it will propably not be able to carry its weight and I should do something... I hope my broadband access restores soon so I can share my cactus pics and new growing experiences with the community... Always nice to read around here

It sure looks like the mediterranean species A.gracilior, A.baccata etc. If it didn't have the pyramids on the cap it would also remind of the much larger and edible A.ovoidea. I think it belongs to this family of amanitas which are not deadly, actually, some are eaten. I have no broadband net right now to make more research on synonyms etc., but all of this sub-family I have found [A.ovoidea I have also eaten a couple of times] smell similarly, kind of like fishy, not too appetising to be honest I wonder if this smells the same...

Perfect thread..... LOL, socks

thanks for the offer... I will let you know friend

MindExpansion, it is indeed a good idea to use humidity tents to make the seeds germinate ~ when they do, you're supposed to slowly aclimate them to drier situations.... and.. yeah, I wasn't thinking straight .... it's fucking hot here!
-
I already got numerous seeds left, the two in soil are doing great and I also put my last one which was in a big pot also in soil ~ but we should be doing some trade sometime soon, sure ;)

Cool seedlings mate! I sowed various Trich seeds yesterday, and put them in a diy mini-greenhouse. Here is is: I really hope I will also have some babies in 4-6 weeks from now!! Questions: how old are they [since sowing] - what was the germination rate [% of seeds germinating] ? Why did you say it's not a good time to sow? too hot??? ======== regarding the artificial lighting thing, I guess that maybe people forget that not everyone is in the same climate, so maybe Zak could be benefited by artificial lighting in Canada while others in other milder climates could do well with no such aids.

I have been growing some Brugmansias started from cuttings. Well the first four ones come from cuttings from the same mother plant: flowering took place in august/september ======================= Second one was started more recently from a pretty big cutting from a yellow-flowered tree. I also have one more from the same mother plant in a big pot - both are currently forming a flower each - quite different 'sheath' [narrower from my white ones] from what I have seen so far. From what I understand, the yellow ones must be a different species/hybrid, mainly because of the more intensely toothed leaves and also the the very bigger size of their leaves. Here's a photo of the biggest one. ======================= I also have some pink ones growing [also stared from cuttings], not a sign of a flower yet, but the pink ones resemble more my white ones, even though their leaves might also be somewhat more toothed. Will be posting more photos - thanks in advance for any help

Here are my two Turbinas, side by side, some days ago. They were transplanted recently. In the same spot I had a heavenly blue Ipomoea [the one in my avatar] from July to November, which did very well. They are starting their climbing habit and seem quite happy. I use nicotine insecticide and keep an eye on greenflies to protect the tender climbing vines. Nicotine seems to work with this plant, as well as Argyreia. The plan is, if they manage to climb a bit more up those sticks, they will be reaching a good sun-spot.

Thanks, these white arboreas are one of my first plants actually. Their flowering was last September, and I also had one more recently. No soil change, just som feeding from time to time. Nice to know, thanks... I do have one pod in one of the arboreas... for a long time.... it's becoming brown this period. ==== As I said I have another species flowering these days, a pink one, also propagated from cutting, so I went to see how it looks like before posting, since yesterday it looked more like yellow/orange to pink and I had begun to wonder if I had mixed the cuttings. To my delight, the flowers are taking their final shape today, so here they are: Any idea what kind of brugmansia is it??

Awesome thread!! How are you cacti going anyway?? I am currently gathering info these days to try to sprout some 7 species of interesting trichocereus... among other things.... I would appreciate it everyone to tell me how do you shade the pots... Do you also cover at the begining, until it sprouts? Should I also take the cover off as well, to prevent the seeds from rotting?? Please say more about bottom watering also... how much would you fill the ice box, up to the soil surface in the pots or a bit less, or much less than that. Thanks in advance I am new in cacti thing, but enthusiastic and willing to learn... I also have a small san pedro offered by corroborre user jono ( I am tryin to learn it get along with full sun ) and one more big bridge cutting is on the way. Would all these advice also adress to succulents seeds sprouting??
