  1. Teotz, why did you say 10-20 years for Turbinicarpus , I read that most species can reach a flowering size at 4-5 years... hm?? any info about Turbinicarpus valdezianus ?? I recently got some seed of both the latter and pseudomacrochelle. We will see how it goes...

it's from mathew, I thought I read you saying you also got a clone of it in botswap?

    Muscimol warning

Maybe people want to also question if the fullest transformation of IBO acid to muscimole is done by sun drying instead of oven [heat] drying - then of course, if one was to consume the material, where legal, the tea would provide a final additional heat to the preperation. I am pretty convinced that this is the case since a very knowledgeable guy from e-dot [stephen peele, a mycologist] suggested that the decarboxylation is more complete when sun drying the material and/or exposing to UV light. I have never experienced nausea from greek picked amanita muscaria and amanita pantherina. It's so frustrating that so many people keep replicating the same old mistakes and misinformations.... Another thing that people might want to consider is that in some regions Amanita muscaria might contain little more muscarine , still too little to pose a real threat, but maybe enough to cause oversalivation, muscle twitches etc.

    T.Bridgesii whats your favirote

well, have you seen the blue tones of Myrtillocactus geometrizans? I think its bluer than that. Also Stretsonia coryne is quite a blue cactus, especially the new growth... anyway, daylight, do you mean something that resembles this one? [the front, tall one, the other is a pedro] I think you know where this comes from, its suits you description, is supposed to be very interesting [swim never yet experimmented with cacti apart from growing them, less than a year into cacti stuff, actually] , it is very fast growing. Well that's the only bridge I got apart from the seedlings I am growing, so I cannot really compare. Also I did not count the spines/per areole ....
  5. yeah, you're propably right that's it's not the best idea...
  6. here's an updated close-up edit: the old links are gone Here is the plant growing, as seen and answered by previous posters....

what are these funky looking fungi?

You guys know these ? I think they're in the same family, they also stink, quite a mediterranean species, as I read... The white ones are propably some Lepiota spp. , even though most of the photos are bad focused

oops! double post. heck why there's no delete???

    Blue Mountains Mushroom ID

Definately not C.comatus. Even though I don't quite know euro-aus fungal associations , since australia is the older-isolated region, but anyway I think its Coprinus picaceus, quite regular, not edible....

    ID-interesting one.

    Amazing colours! Great photo Plantsoma

    columnar cacti ID

Yeah, Myrtillocactus are no disappointment, beautiful blue cacti... I bought all the small ones I could get off the local nursery - they're cheap, practical [sparse spining but then again, little and short spines per areole] and are said to be great to graft on. Only negative I read is they don't like too low temperatures something applicable for both plain plants or plants used as graft stock...

    Hordenine tools

    Very interesting, keep it up
  14. Even then, it might also be a good idea, if someone was to do a bioessay on some of the 'false peyotes' but had not enough material, but anyway still had to do the bioessay to maybe use a MAOI to potentiate the material... just a thought... I somewhat agree that a bioessay of such a cactus alone would be far more worthy than a mixture with other cacti of known psychoactivity... Hmmmm, the link about hordenine is very interesting, even though I don't understand all of it...

Cool. I sure could plant some fresh PV seeds if we could work out some trade... we will see

    Diplopterys cab

that's what I am guessing might have happened, if it is to be a diplo. and yeah, I might get some PV cut or seeds sometime.... you speak greek ? how come?
  18. Thanks for the links, that helped quite a bit to understand at least the first chapter of the mess and confucion with these plants. I posted something here as well http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...17158&st=50 I would also like to note, as imageshack doesn't work for the moment, that the new growth is what I would call very characteristic: some 2 or 3 pairs of leaves are forming together at once, some bigger and some less so, so that you got a really smal pair of new leaves, then a big one, then a small one again... I had noted this some pairs ago, but I think it's getting more intense now... I will post a photo as soon as I can, 'coz I supsect that nooone really understood what I said

    Brugmansia Beauties

Very interesting nice info thanks.. still, my brugs seem to have many flowering circles during the year... on the other hand it's very easy to shape a brug by trimming growth, almost at any time of the year, so rotating shouldn't be really necessary for shaping.... or am I just saying nonsense?I have been wanting to get a sanguinea too, not sure if it will like mediterranean climate, but I will give it a try sometime anyway...

    Diplopterys cab

Well, fellow corroboromember planthelper got me into wondering if my only seed-grown PV is not really a psychotria, but a Diplo instead. Here's the thread with various pics of it. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...mp;#entry185393 I have to admit that inspite of not having the greatest experience in botany/cultivation, and admitting the botanical terms and details in this thread made me a bit dizzy [it's fucking 38 celcius hot here now!] , that the seeds a planted as PV were very much alike like those baphomet posted and said they were not viable. It was 20 of them, a couple pairs were binded like a rather oval sphere and one pair had some kind of thin eggshell remaining - well excuse my description, but english is not my own language. Also, even if my plant is really young, the close-up of the bigt leaf mauve posted had me into instictively thinking that my plant looks like a diplo rather like a psychotria. I have been trying to upload some pics, but imageshack is fucked up... What would the growing requirements of a diplo? are they similar to a PV? should I try to repot to a bigger pot? any other thoughts? PS: So do PV and diplo seeds look alike?

    Diplopterys cabrerana pics

very interesting thought, even if it's just an assumption, even better if it's true. I am really interested in climbers ... and planthelper got me into wondering if my seed grown P.viridis is really a diplo

    Pereskiopsis Grafting Tek wanted

ehmm, , bad phrasing... It was too late to check it out... I did downlod it, since a some ethno friend sent me pere stock + 5 lopho pups ... it is my cactus year, definately... My only attempt at grafting so far, bit less than a month now, lopho on mytrilocactus stock, seems to have 'taken', well, I hope ... Here's a very interesting thread on e-dot on grafting http://www.entheogen.com/forum/showthread....eskiopsis+graft

    Pereskiopsis Grafting Tek wanted

didnt have time to download the tek, but, didn't you not meantion giving pressure to the scion by some tape or something for a couple of days? or is it unnecessary / impractical with the peres?
  24. Hmmmm, that's very strange, my 'psychotria' might be a vine?? I was a way for a couple of days and saw something strange today... I will try to take some photos tomorrow and post them.... does anyone have any link to diplo seeds? I would be glad to clone the plant and maybe send it to some, when the time is right... and when the ID is certain...
